![]() DISTANCE: 8.88 km DURATION: 1:02:28 Loki and I had a fantastic Canada Day run! He was excited to see me and started running full tilt to start. Then came the panting, the long, giant tongue hanging out and the slowing down of pace. It was sunny and hot with lots of people and their dogs around. We ran on and off pathway, up a steep hill and through the neighbourhood. Loki looked at me every so often and it seemed like he was grinning at me😉. We stopped near some duck statues for a photo shoot but wiggly Loki made it challenging to get a good shot. I just love Loki's energy! Thanks for a fun run Loki! Pee =1 Poop=0 Runner: Rosemary

![]() DISTANCE: 6.13 km DURATION: 58:30 Holy macaroni it was hot out today!! Violet and I took it pretty easy given the temperature. We wound our way through the shaded paths and when we weren't protected from the beating sun we slowed our pace and took lots of breaks. Violet is such a great running pal with us both courteous of each other's pace and desired direction. She trots happily as ever at my side, always looking up at me and all I can think she's saying in those moments is "This is so great, isn't it?". I couldn't agree more Violet! The paths were our oyster as it didn't seem like anyone else wanted to brave the heat. It resulted in a great outing for Violet and I as we truly just enjoyed the rhythm of our simultaneous footsteps and panting breath. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, what an absolute joy it is to run with Violet! Doggy business: 2 poops, 1 pee Runner: Alex ![]() DISTANCE: 6.24 km DURATION: 59:26 Roses are red, Violet's are blue and Violet is also the sweetest dog I ever knew! This poem was inspired by the beautiful flowers I took pictures of that reminded me of Violet's equally beautiful personality! Apart from me being directionally challenged, Violet and I had a great first outing together. We did a lot of back tracking due to my poor choices in direction however Violet wasn't bothered in the slightest. She was stride for stride with me and together we made the best of our adventure together. It wasn't until our last couple km's that we came upon a beautifully forested path, so here's to hoping we have another opportunity to hit that path at the beginning of our run as opposed to the end. True to my sappy little poem, Violet is an absolute sweetheart and a total joy to run with! Doggy business: 1 poop, 3 pees Runner: Alex ![]() DISTANCE: 6.51 km DURATION: 52:08 Vivacious Violet... so vibrant! With a twist and twirl, she turned me in the direction she wanted to go and we were off and running! At the first set of lights, her warm friendly doe- like eyes glanced over, and she gave the go ahead signal to climb uphill. We then proceeded through some trails and saw some breathtaking beauty in the woods from flowers to streams. To quote "it's not how many moments are breathtaking in life, its how many moments take your breath away." This is why I love running with dogs; the opportunity to witness so many beautiful sights in their company. Doggy business- 2 pees and 1 poo. Runner: Denise ![]() DISTANCE: 7.68 km DURATION: 1:02:05 Out of the park, we had a fast lap. Then, Violet had a quick roll over and tummy rub, On this brilliant June day, Violet was off to the races. Wow! She was in her element and ran at a steady pace. As we ran, we both liked to look over our shoulders at each other and smile. While Wednesday was all uphill, today we luckily had more downhill which was a good thing in the hot sun. We also made a quick turn into the shady trails! Once we approached the stairs, Violet knew she was close to home so she went full steam ahead for the last lap. Good job Violet ! I also took a photo of Queen Anne's Lace meadow as it matches Violet's beautiful fur. 1 poo and 1 long pee. Runner: Denise DISTANCE: 7.68 km DURATION: 1:10:09
The song Mamma Mia kept coming to my mind today. Violet, The Dancing Queen dog greeted me with a full double twirl and a bounce in her step with a look that clearly stated "Let's Go!" We sashayed to and fro in harmony.. We also had the weather provide us with an opportunity for a picture perfect moment with no shadows! The other photo shows a purple "D" we found and posed next to. Thanks Violet for the wonderful run. The scoop: 2 poops and 1 pee. Runner: Denise ![]() DISTANCE: 7.42 km DURATION: 49:59 Fast friends! Sweet Violet greeted me at the door with such excitement for my first time meeting her today! I think she knew I had never been to this area of town and was thrilled to get to show me around. I'd heard rumours she might like to stick close to home and sure enough at the corner of 69th and 17th Ave she sat down and looked at me as if to say she had decided this was enough. This is probably where having a few treats would have come in handy but a little heart to heart down on her level and a few pets and we were off and running in no time. It was a quiet run through all sorts of neighbourhoods! We said hi to many folks out gardening and a few doggy friends from afar. It was a hot day and we made it back to her house in great time so we sat on the cool shaded cement step and had some more pets before saying goodbye, Thanks for the snuggles Violet! 1 poop and 1 pee today! Thoroughbred Violet! Wow, all smiles Violet, Happy to see you too, standing tall and proud all coiffed and pretty, Jumped out of the gate, already to race! A glorious blue sky in the SW today, along with a wind🌬that pushed and swayed. We headed down the boulevard at a good pace. We nodded our heads and ran steadily. We were in sync! Good job Violet, well done! Everything's a Violet day ( as evidenced by the violet flowers). The scoop: 1 big poo and 2 pees. Runner: Denise ![]() DISTANCE: 4.02 km DURATION: 47:15 Violet is a gem, This was my first run with Violet so Ruth met me at Violet's and I found her in Ruth's car looking pretty comfy. Once outside, Violet assessed the drizzle and heard the thunder and was not so sure about the run. We finally reached a turning point and away we went! She had a nice pace, skipping along the straight and narrow wet grassy areas. We traveled the trails close to home and found some dandelions to make a necklace and that seemed like a good photo op. On the road again, with that steady skip in her step. Convinced she had enough, she began to dry off with a shake shake , 🎤shake-it off,🎤 2-poo 3quick pees . Runner: Denise ![]() DISTANCE: 5.83 km DURATION: 57:29 My third run of the day was with the ever so graceful Violet. We made it into more of a speed walk which I think suited both Violet's and my mood. Tammy usually takes Violet on a run away from her home so I think Violet was a bit perplexed at why I did not put her in my car for our outing ( see first photo). Instead, we explored a different direction on one of the trails behind Christie Estates and we found some of my favourite things: 1) a boardwalk 2) Frosted Mini Wheats cereal and 3) a gorgeous inukshuk. I think Violet liked these treasure as she started smiling on our journey (see bottom photo). The scoop: 2 bags of poop and 2 pees. Runner: Ruth` ![]() DISTANCE: 6.76 km DURATION: 56:05 Violet had a great run today! She was so happy to see me, she could hardly sit still to get the leash on. When out on runs, and frankly in life in general, there are some times that scream out for selfies to be taken. Well today we were running along and I realized my shirt was violet!! "Selfie!!" The other picture that had to be taken was Miss Violet doing her dainty bum wipe in the grass. Otherwise we had a nice steady pace on a breezy afternoon. Out and back along the Bow River. Two poops and one pee today. Runner: Tammy ![]() DISTANCE: 6.14 km DURATION: 54:29 Violet and I had a lovely run in the rain. She didn't mind the rain and snow that fell on us at all. The snow didn't last for long and halfway through our run the rain eased off as well. I know Violet likes running from Edworthy but I didn't want her to jump into those same puddles that she found last time. So we ran on the north side of the river. She took a nice steady pace. And every now and then she wanted a direction change so we just went back and forth between two pathways. Violet had two poos today and one pee. After her second poo she did something I've never seen before. She gave herself a little bum wipe by sitting and dragging her bum through the wet grass. Violet, you are ever so civilized!! The last pic shows how tired she looked once she got into the truck. Great run today Violet! Runner: Tammy DISTANCE: 6.00 km DURATION: 1:00:08
Yay the rain stopped! Yay ,I got to meet Violet today! All I could think of when I picked her up this afternoon was adorable (of course) and wow her light coat is so clean..... Sorry I tried my best but dogs like the mud. 😁 I drove us to Edworthy down to the path...finally a run with no hills. Violet seemed to be having a little bit of an internal struggle. She wanted to run and then she didn't so I called Tammy. She let me in on the the fabulousness that is Violet. Also nothing that a little sweet talk and a pocket full of treats couldn't cure. We stayed off the busy paths, went to the river for a drink and wandered for a while longer. Violet is such a sweet girl. Thanks for the run! 2 pees today. Runner: Tracy ![]() DISTANCE: 6.91 km DURATION: 56:37 So when I picked Violet up today, her owner, Anna said she heard us on the radio this week. She asked if I was thinking of Violet at all when giving the interview. And yes, for part of it, I was. So here's what you need to know about Miss Violet. She is so happy to see me when I get there. And yes, she is anxious to get out the door which tells me she associates happiness with our outings. But then, she thinks, I really don't feel like going out. I'd rather go back home. Today, we zig zagged in front of her house for a few minutes until I thought, let's go to Edworthy. And then here's the other thing you need to know about Violet. In my interview I talked about the sheer joy of running that these pups show me all the time. And Miss Violet is no exception. So I took pics and videos to show just how happy she is to be out on her runs. She even exuberantly jumped into a mud puddle! On a day when I forgot to put a towel in my truck, of course! That's okay. We cleaned her up upon our return. One poop and one pee for Violet. Runner: Tammy ![]() DISTANCE: 5.78 km DURATION: 49:31 Quite often when I'm out running with a dog, the image of a horse and buggy comes to mind. Sometimes I feel like the buggy being pulled by the dog. Today I felt like the horse, pulling Violet (gently) along. That is right up until the turn around. Then Violet always shows me what a good little runner she is. I tried to capture a photo of these two scenarios. But what I love about running with Violet is that she always has a sweet little smile on her face! And what a beautiful day for a jog around the reservoir! Thanks for the run Violet! One poop and one pee today. Runner: Tammy |
