It seems like summer is a fading memory - but Miss Toki and I feel lucky that we got to enjoy one more sunny afternoon run. We were missing Gibbons today and sending her good vibes at the vet. I’m always amazed by how effortlessly Toki can run. Toki is actually the same word in Korean for rabbit - and she does sometimes seem rabbit-like in her stride. I considered not including the selfie of both of us, as some gals don’t like selfies where you can see all your teeth - but I had to marvel at her excellent hygiene and kept it. The scoop: just one pee.

The girls’ mom and I chatted today before the run, and we all thought we had missed the rain! SURPRISE! On my way over, the rain began to pour down. Gibbons was still eager to get suited up when I arrived but as soon as she took the first step outside, her mind was changed. « Looks like an inside day to me » Gibbs said as she looked up at her mom. Toki, on the other hand, put her brave face on and tackled the rainstorm with me. We did not last long in the cold, downpour, but we sure had fun. After soaking ourselves for about 15 minutes, Toks gave me ‘the look’ saying that it was time to head home. We were lucky enough to be greeted with two warm towels at the front door and cuddles/kisses from Gibbs to dry us off. No business today as it was a bit too chilly out there for these chicks!

I got a very enthusiastic greeting from the girls, as I haven’t seen them since our last day sitting play-date. As I got Toki ready to go running, Gibbons wouldn’t stop whining at me, so I grabbed her leash and the three of us headed out for a little jaunt to the pond. After around 10 minutes out with Gibbons, we made our way back and dropped Gibbs off so that Toki and I could go on our run. Boy was it ever hot out, so Toki and I immediately slowed down to accommodate for the heat. We went out a lot slower than we usually do, took lots of water breaks, and didn’t go too far. This doesn’t mean we didn’t have a good time though as it’s always a pleasure to run with Miss Toki The scoop: lots of pees for both and no poops.

What a beautiful morning for a run! I anticipated a bit of a cooler outing today, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself shedding layers just a few minutes in. Gibbons was dying to come on today's run, but "Mom" decided to take her for a stroll instead, while Toki and I ran. And run we did! Toki persuaded me to chase rabbits and birds all over the neighbourhood. We even helped a man and his puppy pal pick a few wild berries to add to his basket. All-in-all, it was the perfect Friday morning run to get our days going. As soon as Toks and I got home, Gibbons was back in on the action, giving smooches and hugs (her favorite talent). No poops, just 2 pees for Toki.

It was so nice to meet you two doggies today! Toki was very excited to meet me, and insisted we play a game of hide and seek when I arrived. She hid under the kitchen table until I put her collar on, then she came to the door for our run! This speedy little lady showed me around the neighbourhood, and took me down the big hill to their neighbouring community, where we continued going down. Toki loves cruising down hills, and enjoyed lunging at a few magpies as we passed them. As we came back up to Toki’s community, she seemed excited to get home and didn’t slow her pace much! Just a few stops to sniff the ground and check out the weeds. We came back a few minutes early to take Gibbons out, but she didn’t seem too keen on coming down the stairs. She wiggled as she said hello to us, but then went back to her bed. Toki and I played in the backyard for a few minutes to try to tire her out a little bit more (easier said than done!). It was so nice running with you today Toki! Thanks for joining me!! Doggy Business: nothing to report.

Before our run, I read DGR Runner/Co-owner Tammy’s blog with G & T from last week. I must say her description of recent outings with the Vizsla sisters was on « point » (pardon the pun). Gibbs must be feeling a bit cabin feverish in the house while recovering, as she cannot stop smiling when we are out walking, and she never seems to want to head for home these days. We ran into a neighbourhood friend of G & T’s; Patches, and his 2-month old baby brother, Spike (ADORABLE). I am so glad Toki and I could take Gibby out for a jaunt before finishing the run - just the two of us. Before and after today’s outing, we enjoyed some cuddles in the grass, on the floor, and on the couch. Thank you for the fun time today Cuddle Queens! The scoop: 1 poop and 3 pees each!

Hi Toki! Gibbons, I love your new cast color! Great choice! Thank you (both) for all the kisses! After having a nice talk with G and T's mom, Toki and I headed off! We thought we would try a bigger loop with some more elevation. The clouds were still rather dark above us; there was a good chance we would be rained on. Luckily, we had our matching jackets! They must have fought off the rain! Toki tried to do some bird hunting today. She had no luck, but I'm sure she will continue to try on her next run. We ran into a mom with 3 little girls who all wanted to pet Toki's face. Toki was very patient with all 30 little fingers coming towards her. We continued on our way back to the house where Toki decided she still had energy and wanted to play tug-o-war with her squeaky toy, lol. Silly girl! I'll see you two in a couple weeks! I look forward to a walk with Gibbons too! Scoop: 2 pees.

This warm Friday morning brought smiles and sweat to all of the neighbourhood faces. Luckily for Crestmont residents, there is a Splash Park to enjoy, and cool down in. Toki and I cooled off in the creek instead (as no dogs are allowed in the Splash Park) and enjoyed the shade offered by various trees. After about 45 minutes, Toki began to slow down and consistently craved breaks in the shade. I decided then it was a good time to call it quits! After passing/chasing a rabbit on our way home, Toki and I were definitely ready for a bit of relaxation in the backyard. I honestly thought we were going to catch the rabbit this time! Of course, Gibbons would join us in the yard for more kisses and lounging. Have a sunny weekend and stay cool sweet gals. The scoop: 1 poop and 2 pees for Toks.

Hi Toki! Are you ready to go and try to defeat the heat!? The fact of the day: the sun's mass is 1.989x10^36kg. Let's see what we can do! I could tell quickly that Toki was warmer today than yesterday. Every couple hundred meters. Toki would lead me to a grassy shady area to sniff about and seek shelter. No complaints here. Our Gulpy was no competition for this heat.☀️Each corner we took, I could tell she was looking to head home. Around the 4K mark, it was me leading and Toki (still happily) but slowly behind me. Right around this time, I was stung by a 🐝! I made a deal with Toki that if we could just get to 5K, we could return home so she can cuddle Gibbons. She graciously accepted. Once home, she headed straight for the water dish! Sorry for your shorter outing Toks. At least, we still had some adventure and fun! Scoop: 3 pees.

Hi ladies! Gibbons, I'm happy to see your wagging tail! Thank you for giving me kisses. You look like you're doing well, and healing after your surgery! I think she secretly wanted me to sign her cast? Well Toki; it's you, me, the Gulpy (thanks for filling it up Taylor!) and the 30 degree sun. Let's see who wins this! Safe to say, it was very hot out 😂. The sun was definitely kicking our butts. Any chance Toki had to pull me into the shade, she did. We both enjoyed cooling off for a couple of minutes. Toki was even kind enough to share her Gulpy with me!! We ran to check out some of the Valley Ridge Golf Course before turning back to head home. We were both so hot coming up the last part of the hill that we slowed down and walked in the shade. So close to home! Once we got inside, the harness was off and Toki disappeared. I imagine she dashed to the water dish! See you girls tomorrow! Scoop: 2 pees.

As soon as I got inside this morning, Toki grabbed a toy and then sprinted away. Once I had my shoes off, I found her running and leaping around the house. She looked like a flying squirrel. I had to break the news to her that she's going to need her rain jacket for our run. But mine was blue too, so at least we matched! I needed a couple treats to convince her the rain jacket was a good idea. We were rained on for about 40 minutes of our run. Neither of us liked it very much. The rain brought out lots of smells so Toki was busy sniffing. The thunder was getting louder and the lightning was approaching us so we took it slow and were very cautious. By the end of our run, the wind had changed and I knew a downpour was coming any second so back home we went! Toki loved getting dried off; it was very cute! 2 pees, no poops. I hope Gibbons has a quick recovery!

Why hello again Miss Toki! Even after our long run yesterday, Toki was very eager to go fast this afternoon and we took off quickly. While I would have loved to do another fast and quick run, my sore legs quickly caught up to me, and Toki got distracted licking dew off of the wet grass so our pace took a turn for the slower. Toki and I did a nice little loop, but I was sure to head back quickly to give poor Gibbons lots of love and attention as she curled up on the couch. She was pretty adamant about not leaving the couch, as Gibbons is of course not very fond of the rain, but we made up for this with tummy rubs, Vizsla kisses and treats. The scoop: 2 pees for Toki.

Long time, no see Toki! I got some quality one-on-one time with Toki this morning as her mom and sister were at the vet looking at poor Gibbon’s front paw. Toki and I spent lots of time before we left the house re-acquainting ourselves. Unfortunately, we hit the worse weather we could today and we spent our morning running in the rain. It’s safe to say that both of us got fairly wet. We went a long way this morning, and it was quite cathartic this morning running in the rain with Toki. This sweet girl really is a great running partner; either matching my pace or giving me a little encouragement. When we got back, Gibbons was home so I was lucky to have a nice cuddle session and chat with their mom. The scoop: 1 poo and 1 pee.
DISTANCE: 8.12 km DURATION: 54:39
Today might be the longest day of the year but we did a short run. That was ok though because it was hot ! Gibs got a new cast and seemed a little bummed today that she couldn’t come along. Soon we will be together again. No poops and 2 pees.
