Hey Spud! How are you doing boy? I have missed your goofy smile. Finally, you called me and asked me on a second date. I’ve been waiting by the phone since our first one. We decided to run to Fish Creek Park to enjoy the smell of the fresh air and the sight of snow- covered evergreens. It’s was amazingly beautiful and so peaceful!! There wasn’t a person in sight. Spud and I had the entire park to ourselves. Thank you Spud for a lovely second date! I hope to see you soon! The Scoop: 2 poops, 6-8 pees .

Well, it’s so nice to meet you Stud, I mean, Spud! Today was my first run with you and my first run with DGR. It was amazing! We got the business out of the way first and found our pace. I must say, Spud was faster than I thought and had tons of energy to burn. About 3K in, we ran into two grumpy Schnauzers, but Spud was a perfect gentlemen and paid no attention to their "not so happy" mood. About half-way out, we decided to stop and play in the snow. He was super happy to roll around and act silly. And then there it happened... Now, I don’t usually kiss on the first date, but the weather was beautiful, the sun got into my eyes, and this is Spud we are talking about. And if you know me, you know I have a soft spot in my heart for Golden Retrievers. Anyways, it was so easy to fall in love with you Spud! I hope to see you again soon. Scoop: 2 poops and too many pees to count.

Why hello Spud! Your human dad did not tell me there's a new addition in your family! Human mom said something about not wanting to wake the baby. Wait, what? Baby? Well let's leave mom and baby to rest and head out for a run. Spud definitely had some energy to burn. With this being run #3 for me I was thinking that our outing would be more of a brisk walk. But maybe someone told Spud how much eating I've been doing and how little running I've done over DGR's break. Because he was happy to trot along and I had to follow suit. He was so happy to get out and play in the snow. His signature move was a full belly flop into a snow bank. He was quite pleased with himself over this, and I couldn't help but laugh. What a hoot! Thanks for the run Spud. I needed it... and obviously so did you. I hope to see you again soon! Scoop: one poop and many pees.

Hello friendly Spud. Let’s go for a rockin' walk around the Christmas Tree! We rocked and walked around Spud's neighbourhood. He is very popular to say the least. He is so friendly with everyone and is a very lovely dog. I have a feeling that Santa will be very good to Spud this year. Golden’s love snow, and he is no exception. He did a full face dive into the fresh white stuff and loved every minute of it. We walked by Starbucks and were tempted by the eggnog latte, but we controlled ourselves. Soon after, we walked by a young lady with a Starbucks in her hand, Spud headed for her and me for the coffee. So loveable, Spud is so kind and wonderful. Merry Christmas Spud and to all a good night. 3 pees and no poops.

Hello Spud! I was looking forward to meeting you, given your outstanding reputation with my DGR colleagues. And you did not disappoint. We started with a belly rub, harnessed up and headed out the door. I let you lead me through the neighborhood since it was all new to me and you were an excellent guide. We did loop-the-loops, took shortcuts and galloped through knee-deep snow banks on our Thursday afternoon jaunt. Hey wait a minute! RunKeeper says we did 12k. No way! More like 5k. It was an excellent walk/jog. Thanks for touring me around your neighborhood, Spud. The scoop: one poo and many, many pees.

Good Morning, Spud! Is it ever nice to finally meet you. Right off the bat, I knew this guy was special. Usually, when a stranger comes to the door, you'd think you be a little intimidating, no? Spud decides to go about things a little differently. As I opened the door, I find Spud, lying flat on his back, in the perfect belly rub position. I guess distraction will be how you would stop a potential burglar? Anyways, this was exact to my heart; Spud is a perfect snuggle dog. He could have cared less about the walk, what he signed up for were the cuddles! Once he was all strapped in, we set out to stroll around his neighborhood of Bridlewood. Now, I'm in unfamiliar territory, Buddy, you lead the way! We made it about half a block, and that was when Spud decided now was a good time to rest, this became quite the trend for the duration of his walk. Walk a bit, pee on something, sit in the shade and wait for Paige to cuddle me. I don't know about you, but Spud has this whole walk thing figured out! I loved my morning with this giant suck, you look at him and can't help but smile. It's official; I am obsessed with Spud. I look forward to another cuddle one day soon. Thanks for the very entertaining stroll, Spud! The scoop: 1 poop, 8 pees.
I had the privilege of spending the long weekend with Spud, and can see why he is one of the favourite DGR dogs! Spud is a lover...he loves cuddles and walks and most of all he LOVES belly rubs! Hi is the talk of the town! Spud has many, many human friends around the neighborhood that he enjoys visiting. During walks. he makes a beeline to the neighbours for a few pats on the head, then promptly lays at their feet and rolls over hoping they will cooperate and bend down to give him a belly rub. Spud is also a fan of leaves in the wind and is so excited to chase after and try to chomp down on leaves dancing wildly in the wind! Touring around the area on several daily walks is a big part of Spud's life, and he is very eager to visit his regular spots, and will let me know if I'm turning the wrong way! We met a new friend today who was about eight years old and just delighted to get the chance to pet such a sweet puppy! Back at home Spud enjoys relaxing in the backyard and has a knack for keeping an eye on the orange tabby cat across the way. The blue pail is another Spud approved toy, and we had a fun time playing with balls, and guarding the blue pail. The snow on Saturday was likely a highlight for Spud during his time with me, as enjoys the cooler weather. Spud is always up for pets and cuddles and it was a ton of fun spending time with him!

It is so nice to meet you Sir Spud. 🐾 Oh my goodness you are one handsome guy and such a lovey. I brought my husband tonight for the walk so he could also get some 'Golden' loving. I kept it as a surprise where and what we were doing. When we first entered Spud came over to us big wags of the tail, a couple of kisses and then big belly rubs. A 'Golden Welcome' for sure. It was snowing a fair amount so it was great that Spud and I had our flashing reflectors on😉. We took a great spin around Spud's neighborhood and Keely (Spud's Mom) told me he had some girlfriends' houses that he liked to visit. Well on our way back home Spud stopped and just sat in this driveway. Sorry Spud your girlfriend isn't home tonight.🐶 Poor Young Guy - Friday night and he's out but not with one of his girlfriends. Thank You Spud for making our Friday Night special😘. The Doggy Business: 1 poop and lots of pees.

OH MY SPUD! You're an adorable little furry dumpling (potato that is). Before my new friend and I could even get out the door, we had to have a good session of belly rubs.😊 Are you ready Spud? I'm in your hood so lead the way. We headed down a path to a field where we saw some water. I couldn't really tell it was dark. Did I forget to mention I couldn't find my headlamp and I was dressed in black (safety first 😳). Spud took us into another dark field so thank goodness for the flashlight app! Finally back on the street. Hurray, I can see and that's when my friend did his stop, drop and roll. I've been waiting for this. His human mom said this was his thing and he did it again and again and one more time. Cause he can! 😂 We made it back safely, Thanks Spud. Don't look at me like that, all right I'll stay for a minute and play. I couldn't help it; Spud's so darn cute! Thanks for the fantastic company this evening, Spud. Cheers! 1 poo and numerous pees.
Today brings to a close my week long adventure with Spud! For those who don't know me, my favourite food is potatoes, so it seems natural that Spud and I would get along! This guy is a real charmer! His love of life is palpable and contagious! Although I was not initially keen on extra early wake ups for morning walks it ended up being the highlight of my day. Just me, spud and the 'ol dusty trail. He loves his walks so we took no less than three a day and I almost entirely forgot to document them on RunKeeper, guess I was just having too much fun with Spud to worry about technology. Here's a little glimpse into my week with this beautiful golden! So many silly grins, cuddles, walks, pool parties and couch perching to stare at me from above! I hope your humans take more vacations so that I can come back soon!

Lucky me, I got a chance to give Spud a pee break and meet this handsome character. It is hard not to fall in love with him at first sight because he oozes charm. I took him out for a 2 km walk to a nearby field where he had fun watching seagulls take off. He also really enjoyed rubbing against my legs and falling to the ground for belly rubs. It was great that he marks everything in sight so he definitely peed on this pee break. He also pooped. when we got home we met his neighbour who told me that Spud is a favourite in the neighbourhood. You could tell that Spud had charmed him as well. DGR Runner Lauren is lucky to be petsitting Spud as he is a sweetheart!

Today begins my week of cuddles with Mr.Spud and boy have I hit the jackpot because he is just the sweetest! He greeted me at the front door by flopping onto his belly with his teddy for some pets. I happily obliged. After I got settled in we went and hung out in the backyard for a bit to enjoy the beautiful weather and have some more pets. He thanked me with some unavoidable kisses haha. Then I thought it would be fun to explore the neighbourhood since it's all new to me and we had a nice little jaunt! He sure loves his walks and enjoys spritzing every tree and post we pass by. It was warm out at high noon so we didn't overdo the walking in the heat and headed back for some more backyard time. We have packed in a lot but I wanted to make sure he feels comfortable without his humans so tried get in all his fave things! All smiles for both of us today 😊.

What was originally looking to be a very wet and soggy run turned out to be one of the most beautiful and sunshiny outings I have ever been on! Today, I brought along Spud, another golden retriever whom I am looking after to run with Molson and Roxy. After a ton of initial excitement and a lot of untangling leashes the four of us were off on what turned out to be spectacular running weather. Molson, Roxy and Spud became fast friends and looked like they had been running with each other for years. We had the paths of Glenmore Park all to ourselves and enjoyed every minute of it! I can't decide on who was the happiest between all four of us! Another DGR success!! Scoop on the poop: Molson 1 poop and several pees, Roxy 1 long pee and no poop, Spud 1 poop and several pees
Today is day one of looking after Spud while his loving owners are off on a wonderful vacation. As always there is no shortage of affection from Spud however he took some time to adjust to my presence and had quite the pouty face on. But true to his nature and with a little encouragement he has been all smiles after becoming more familiar with me. Today started with a rainy outing and some mid morning cuddles, followed by plenty of time out in the backyard playing with a number of toys and to finish it off a great evening stroll! Spud is quite the popular pup in this neighborhood as many greeted him by name. I would say today has been a huge success as we have established a level of comfort with each other and I can see this being a week filled with plenty of cuddles and quality time together!
Spud is a gorgeous Golden Retriever that Alex will have the pleasure to sit with at the end of the month! When we met Spud today, he was adorable. He so wanted to jump up and give us hugs, but he exercised as much control as a two-year old retriever could and settled for lots of petting and gave many kisses. I managed to snap this picture of him, which was difficult because Spud tried to eat my iphone! I realized it was because my phone normally sits in my hip belt surrounded by dog treats! So Keely brought out some actual treats, and Spud got to show off how well trained he is. He is obviously well loved and cared for. I know he will miss Les and Keely, but it looks like he quite liked Alex as well. It should be a win-win for all! Welcome to the DGR family Spud! We are thrilled to have you!
