![]() DISTANCE: 8.09 km DURATION: 1:00:47 Sophie and I had a nice early run, before the rain came! Phew! Sophie was quite a go getter this morning, even with her haltie on she wanted to pull! But like usual, around the 40 minute mark we both settled into a casual pace. I gave her a few opportunities for drink breaks, one at the creek and the other at a tap, but she wasn't interested. However when we passed a puddle...oh boy did we ever come to a dead stop! A muddy, yucky, puddle... By the way there is a poop bandit in the neighbourhood, we returned home to find poop on the lawn! No poops for Sophie and just one pee. Runner: Tara

![]() DISTANCE: 9.56 km DURATION: 1:11:37 Sophie and I went for an out & back run to Confluence Park. I wanted to go see the herd of working goats in the park. They're a pilot program to control invasive species and they have a Shepherd on horseback, a herding dog and two watch dogs. But alas they were too far into the park for Sophie and I to see. We did however meet two very excited dogs who were too much for Sophie so after a very tense sniff we kept on moving. Later on in our run, about 60 minutes we met a much calmer dog and Sophie was much calmer too and they had a very friendly sniff. 3 pees, 2 poops, The second poop was too runny to bag up. Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 9.65 km DURATION: 1:14:28 Sophie is becoming such a model for other community dogs. Today, we crossed the street to have a meet and greet with another dog, which Sophie eagerly awaited as we got closer and closer. The other dog was not having it but Sophie was such a darling. Even when the other dog growled she just gave the dog some space and kept on walking, not a peep out of her! But as it happens the growly dog carried on down our intended path so Sophie and I took a small detour to give the dog time to carry on. We had to walk quite a bit today and it's really hot for Sophie. We stopped at a hose for a quick drink which she wasn't really interested in, she let me sprinkle her a little bit to cool her coat off but she wasn't exactly eager to get into the sprinkle stream. Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 8.25 km DURATION: 1:10:28 It was another hot one for Sophie. We took it slow, stopped for water and took walk breaks too. We met three medium sized mutts, we approached them walking, let their owner get their leashes in order and then celebrated a calm, successful meeting with plenty of bum smells and a good long pat. Sophie got a little spooked on our run today by a tree mulcher but recovered instantly. She had two wet poops and one pee. Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 9.63 km DURATION: 1:21:56 Sophie had some off leash time today in the park but no friends were there. We had the whole park to ourselves! However we did wave hello to the train conductor. It was a big mental exercise for Sophie to run calmly beside the train, it's sooo big and so loud. At about 40 minutes into our run, we met a little dog who did not like us. However Sophie was so polite and ignored his barking and snapping. She just plodded along right beside me and the stroller. We took a little sprinkler break because the sun and Sophie are mortal enemies! After our water break, we took more walk breaks to help stay cool. By the time we got back to the house, Sophie was hot and tired but it was overcast so not too bad! Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 6.94 km DURATION: 1:02:38 I found Sophie's sweet spot, 14 degrees, overcast, slight drizzle, easy four miles! She was so happy on our run, just jogging contentedly beside the stroller. I tried her off-leash through the park with no dogs or distractions, and her recall was great. She would dive into the stream and look up to find me, and then dive again. We ran out of the off-leash park and doubled back. When we came back to the off-leash area, I took her off-leash again and this time she wanted to make sure that everyone who came through the park knew it was her park, so I put her back on leash and then no more bossy Sophie! Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 9.68 km DURATION: 57:39 Sophie is getting faster! I'm so proud of her. Her owner says that sometimes Sophie likes to be the alpha dog so I make sure to hold her to exceptional standards. Today she did so good in regards to dogs. She passed by ten dogs, two of whom were off-leash. All I had to do was give her a small leash correction and she would remain focused on me and our run! She was sooooooo good. However when we got to within a few houses of hers, she saw a little dog and decided he was in her turf and needed to set him straight. Nothing more than a growl and a bark though. At about 40 minutes in, she enjoyed her first off-leash time with me by the run-off wetland. She was so dainty and didn't want to get all of her toesies wet, eventually she got all of the them though! My little princess. No pees just one wet poop. ere to edit. Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 8.38 km DURATION: 59:46 I love dogs that run! Even though Sophie's owner says she's a little testy around other dogs, a good hard run can fix a lot! We came across the same dog that we met last week and not a peep out of Sophie. We ran past a property with two dogs that would have loved to fence fight, and again, Sophie didn't even flinch. We passed by countless people and she just trotted along beside me! On another note, Sophie was extremely hot today, at about twenty minutes in, she was lagging behind. We found a sprinkler and I let her off-leash to go cool off. She sat in the sprinkler water for a good five minutes before we moved over to a shady spot to sit down. About fifteen minutes later I cooled her off with a hose but she wasn't interested in drinking from it. We did quite a bit of walking after 30 minutes in. She had one poop and it was extremely runny, nothing to pick up even though it was rather a lot. Tummy troubles??? :( Sophie's picture is of her wiggly bum in the sprinkler, scratching her face, pure bliss! Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 8.09 km DURATION: 59:01 Sophie and I had an awesome first run together. We took it easy and walked for a few minutes every fifteen minutes. We met two different dogs today and one owner asked to try the meeting again. So Sophie got a few different chances to relax around new dogs! Sophie was great on the leash and loved running beside Nose Creek. One poop Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 5.86 km DURATION: 36:18 Today we met a lovely 3 year old Black Lab/Shepherd X named Sophie. She is going to be a great addition to our fleet of athletic dogs! Sophie is easy on the leash and enjoys a quick pace. She knows lots of commands and can even dry her own paws off by making circles on her doorway entrance mat. Yes, she is smart but also we found out right away that she is very loveable and as she kept leaning into us for some rubs and love. What a great running partner and fit with our DGR pack.
