Sally's Husky Howl is my indicator that it is time to take her out for her run. This is my last day with her and our 4th 10K in a row. She sure loves running and we have settled into a good routine. I do think she give DGR dog Kamber a run for her the title as The Squirrelinator as Sally loves looking up trees for squirrels. It was a hot one so we stopped at the river again and I thought she was going to put her full body under water this time as she was so hot but instead she just pranced about She did have a poo in the river which was not much fun to clean up but oh well. I am going to miss my cuddle buddy tonight as Sally is a big snuggler at bedtime. However, I do think Teddy may be excited to be top dog again. I am glad you are just down the street from me Miss Sally. Please visit me again soon.

I was hoping to have a lazy Sunday but in order to make that happen, I needed to get Sally out for a run. Post coffee, my husband and I did a short walk with her and our dog Teddy along the river but that was not successful as she was keen to go go go so I returned home and took her to Douglas Fir Trail. I loved watching how she settled into a smooth pace after getting her initial zoomies out. She loved the stop in the pond and we hit it on the out and the back of our run. I think she also appreciated the short stop when I ran into a friend along the trail. The trail also kept us cool in the shady spots, Mission Accomplished! One tired doggy so now it is time for a lazy Sunday. She is sleeping on some cool patio pavement in the shade as I write.

Last Christmas, I fostered a Husky named Sally and this is the second time I have had the chance to pet sit her since she was adopted. She and my dog Teddy are both crazy about squirrels so I started walking them together but we saw 3 squirrels immediately and together they are a bit more dog than I was comfortable with so I decided to take Sally on a run to Sandy Beach from my house. I could control any urges, get comfortable with her on a leash and just have some one-on-one time. We got to hear a really good band playing privately at one of the Riverside home's Stampede party and then Sally had some off-leash time at the river where her recall was great and her social skills were awesome. This lovely hot evening changed on a dime and when we were a km from my house, a windstorm blew in to town. We actually sought shelter under a garage awning for a bit and then got made a dash for home, Sally was tuckered and this meant cuddle time and Netflix. Thanks for a lovely day one to our reunion.

So many different runs with Sweet Sally during her stay with me. She is an athletic Husky who I know loves her exercise and enjoys playing with other dogs at the off-leash areas so I made sure we got lots of time outside. We had quite the mix of weather from warm and wet to cold, snowy and icy. On leash, she is gets pretty jazzed seeing other dogs so our off-leash time was a good outlet for her to play and she did well wit her recall. If you look at the distance above, we did a marathon in 3 days time. Besides running and playing, Sally loves cuddling which is my forte. I will miss giving her belly rubs and having her by my side. What a special treat to have her join me for St, Paddy's Weekend. It must be the luck of the Irish! Hope to see you again soon.
