DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 32 minutes My pack was full of the Christmas Spirit today. First up was Sully who was daydreaming when I arrived about what Santa was going to fill his stocking with this year when I arrived. He kicked it into high gear when it was adventure time. Miss Patti was dressed and patiently waiting for me. Sorry, Sweetheart, I was 15 minutes late today. Sully, Patti and I took off to Edworthy. I had a surprise waiting for both pups there. Henry brought Aoife over to meet up with her pack.🐾 We were also on the lookout for the Christmas decorations that Patti’s parents had hung up. We got some fun pics and then it was time to go bushwhacking! Sometimes you have to shake up the local routes. Let's just say the canines and all 4’s handled the terrain better than the humans. Merry Christmas to Everyone, keep safe and healthy. May 2022 be filled with lots of cuddles and love. The Doggy Business Report: Sully had 1 poop and many pees. Miss Patti had 1 poop and a few pees. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Brrrrr!!! It is -25C with the windchill at Nosehill. The Sisters were at it again today.🐾 The top priority was everyone's well-being. They all were so happy to see each other and did well with these temperatures. There were regular ear and paw checks. The ice was forming quickly today. The girls had fun but we werre glad to get back in the vehicle. The Doggy Business Report: Patti had 3 poops, Sophie had 1 and Ellie had zero. In the pee department, everyone had a couple each. Runner Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 42 minutes We are family I got all my sisters with me This song was going through my head today. We had the Doodle Sister, Sophie & Ellie join the Irish Sisters Patti and Aoife. Talk about lots of fun The running was going full out. Little Ellie was determined to keep up with the big girls. Patti loved Ellie and they wrestled and chased each other. Miss Sophie was loving all the outdoor smells. Ellie and Aoife finished the walk earlier with Henry. Miss Patti, Sophie and I finished up second. Hey Sisters, let's do that again real soon. The Doggy Business Report: Patti had 1 poop and 2 pees. Sophie had 2 poops and a couple pees. Ellie had 1 poop and 1 pee. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3.9 km DURATION: 59 minutes Wowza, Patti Cakes! It is chilly out here. It is always a bit deceiving from Patti’s home, where the wind was minimal to Nosehill and the wind is cutting. Henry joined us at Nosehill and chauffeured Mikki and Aoife. Patti and Aoife kept things pretty low-key. At one point, Patti laid down and let Aoife run in circles.🤣 That’s right Patti, conserve your energy. We had a quick warm-up in the truck today and a few snacks. Thanks to Patti’s Mom for the hot delicious coffee. My teeth have finally stopped chattering. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop and 2 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 26 minutes Today's Title ‘Mature Males and Young Females’🤣 Mikki joined Patti & Aoife at Nosehill for a walk. I could tell that the girls had so much pep and energy. Mikki was very content walking alongside Henry and watching the ‘young girls shenanigans’. Great walk today and both Patti & Aoife had many doggies to run and play with. The Doggy Business Report: Patti had 1 poop and 3 pees. Mikki had 1 poop and several pees Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 15 minutes Baby it's cold outside. I know that is the line from a Christmas carol. (Too early to reference??) Sully was ready to go. Miss Patti was dressed to kill, showing off her long legs in her windbreaker. I think she knew Sully was her running partner today. Thank goodness for the trees to break some of that wind. The pups really enjoy zipping up and down the dirt trails. The wide-open space made them both look at me and say “The wind messes with our hair!” The Doggy Business Report: Miss Patti was 1 & 1. Sully was 1 poop and many pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 24 minutes It was the ‘Community Social’ hour today with Miss Patti and Aoife. The park was full of doggies and their humans. Dare I say it....it was like a pre-Covid Christmas party. There was a rather big group. Everyone was happy to see each other and share pleasantries. We met up with Carolyn, a former DGR runner, who knows Patti because they are neighbours. That led to meeting other neighbours.😊 A real Community Social. Patti and Aoife had many sprints and wrestling moments. I love days like today🐾💕. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops and 1 pee for Patti Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 21 minutes Is it Christmas or Halloween? The girls were ready for almost anything. Patti was slicked out in her dashing raincoat. Miss Marley chose au naturel and Aoife chose her Monkey sweater. Aoife is excited for Halloween and it worked out perfectly for her to try it today. The girls were all happy to take a walk around Baker Park under some stipulations! We MUST start and finish at the off-leash park. Miss Marley supervised the Irish Sisters and let it be known when they got too rambunctious. Patti & Aoife were extra spunky today. The Doggy Business Report: Patti had 1 poop and a few pees. Miss Marley had a poop and a few pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 27 minutes The gang is back together again. We had sunshine steps at Nosehill with Patti Cakes, Silly Sully, Momma Marley and Aoife. This pack is starting to get a ‘following’ on the hill. One of the regulars we meet on our walks was so pleased with our pack's magic. One of her dogs can be nervous. When he saw our pack, his tail started to wag and he had the best-relaxed energy. All the pup's tails wagged. I am one very happy dog owner and one very proud DGR dog runner with my All-Stars with paws.🐾 I learnt after taking Patti home that she is not eating that much, which explained her lower energy. I hope you devour your lunch this afternoon sweetheart. The Doggy Business Report: Patti had 2 poops, Sully had 1 poop. Marley had a few pees as did the other pups. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 25 minutes I know that dogs understand what we say to them. Ennis is staying at our house and last night I said “Tomorrow we are going to a puppy party.” Ennis was so excited he woke me up at 5:30 a.m to get this party started. Today’s Pup Party Pack consisted of Patti, Sully, Aoife and of course Ennis. The cool wind could not dampen these pup's spirits. Just like humans, they love a good party too. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops for Sully and Patti. All the dogs had a couple of pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5K DURATION: 1 hour 11 minutes Today’s special guest to join the Irish Sisters is........Miss Marley. Our family calls Marley, ‘Aoife’s big sister.’ There is a strong sisterhood in today's walk. We had a later start because to our surprise the John Laurier entrance was closed. No worries girls, we are determined to have an ‘all off-leash’ day. Success on all accounts. Miss Marley and Miss Patti are now sisters too. They got on smashingly. The Doggy Business: Marley had 1 poop and a couple of pees. Patti Cakes had 1 poop and 3 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes We’re back!!! To say Aoife and Patti were happy to see each other is an understatement!! The sisters wrestled and chased each other for the first 10 minutes at the off-leash park. Then, we had a serious spin around Baker Park. Taking these two out can never be too serious. We jogged maybe 200 meters when we got stopped and someone ‘had to say hi’ and have a few ear scratches. Every single person we met today shared pleasantries. One of the last compliments was a lady who said “ The World needs more Wolfies” of course referring to the two gorgeous Irish Wolfhounds taking me for a walk. Miss Patti Cakes, thank you for making our first “chilly morning” back so warm. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop and 3 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 6K DURATION: 1 hour 23 minutes What a darling girl this Patti! Our first meet and greet went amazingly well. Patti was happy to leave with me and my pocket full of treats. She chose to go in the truck down to the trails by the river. We headed off down the trail, stopping occasionally for encouragement and treats. Patti is so careful and respectful of the others on the path, moving aside for cyclists and saying a respectful hello to the pedestrians. She was very interested in the train going by too, watching intently and having snacks. Soon it was time to go back and see Mom and eat the rest of the treats. I'm so lucky and grateful to have made such a wonderful new friend who gives the best hugs . The Scoop: 2 pees and 1 poop. Runner: Pat DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes . Patti is always so amazing. As soon as the door was open, she was ready to go. She hopped into the car and looked at me like she was waiting forever to get going! I love her funny face. We kept it at a slow run as we shuffled through the leaves and enjoyed the cool breeze. She loves exploring the pathways around Edworthy Park. Afterwards, we headed down to the water to splash around and have a quick drink, Patti is always such a blast to play with. The Scoop: just 3 pees for this girl today. Runner: CJ DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10K DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes I decided to post my run with my dog Teddy today so some of the newer DGR runners can understand how to write blogs and how much fun they are. I also got some beautiful photos of Teddy in the all of fall's glory. I did not have any assigned runs so I thought I would take Teddy along some of the Edworthy trails and to his favourite swimming hole. He was so happy with our two stops to swim and catch rocks. We continued our workout along the off-leash trail. It was peaceful until we heard this loud noise. I looked up and it was like an Alfred Hitchcock horror movie with a few trees jammed packed with crows. I don't think the photo above shows how many we saw. Teddy was not bothered and we continued merrily for a few more kilometres to get in our Friday 10K. Love ya Theodore! The Scoop: 1 poop, several pees. Runner: Ruth |
