DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.4 km DURATION: 35 minutes I got the usual fantastic greeting from Lucy and Nikita today😊 These two ladies sure know how to make you feel wanted. It was especially quiet out there so when we came to the green space we could hear the coyotes making quite the racket. They sounded closer than they were and in that moment Nikita broke out into song. It was pretty cute! Lucy then decided to dance for a snack! I swear sometimes they should be on T.V. Thanks for all the laughs ladies! 2 pees each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy

DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today was actually both nicer and not nicer than I thought. Nicer because when we were out of the wind, it was actually pretty nice and warm, but not nicer in that the wind was much colder than I was anticipating! The girls were more than ready to head out and explore, so we decided to check out some paths we haven’t been on in a while and try to keep our distance from the greater than usual number of people out and about. Two exciting things happened today. 1) Nikita scooped up dried gopher jerky on the run and after about a 3 minute stand-off of me trying to pry her mouth open, she swallowed it. On the bright side, she was totally calm and ok with me getting up in her face and mouth like that, and we didn’t have any issues with pets on her face after that, so I guess that’s good? Oh Nikita. This happened quite early in the run, and she seemed totally fine for the remainder. 2) While waiting at a light to cross Country Hills Blvd, a firetruck went by and much to my absolute surprise and the delight of the others waiting for the light, Nikita started howling!! It was so funny and adorable! I have never heard her howl before, it’s actually quite nice! For Lucy, it was a pretty normal run with the exception of watching Nikita and I stand-off over the jerky. Lucy had lots of pets and time to roll in the snow and survey all of the spots she hadn’t peed on yet. We also found a green decoration so we could say Happy St Patrick’s Day! We finished up with a walk to cool down, and then they had lots of pets again once we were inside and out of the wind. Thanks for the great hour girls! Nikita had 3 pees, Lucy had 5. Runner: Laura DGR RUN OF THE DAY #8 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.5 km DURATION: 44 minutes Lucy and Nikita just couldn’t wait to get outside and sit down in the snow! By the time I got to their house it was fairly warm out (yippee!) and apparently none of us were in a hurry. The gals and I meandered through the park without a care in the world. There was a gopher. I saw it with my own two eyes but Lucy and Nikita couldn’t figure out where it was. I certainly wasn’t going to show them as I had no intentions of seeing my first gopher kill of 2020! Eventually, we trotted on back to the castle. Thanks for hanging with me ladies! I always appreciate you two. 3 pees for Lucy and 2 pees for Nikita. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Oh man, so many things happened this run it's hard to know where to start! To preface, they were all good things, and they started with a hilarious competition between Nikita and Lucy when I arrived. Both dogs wanted my 100% attention - Nikita for smiles and cuddles, and Lucy for her usual giving me the business routine. We went into the yard to sort all of this out, and they were almost beside themselves with excitement! We then zoomed away to check out the free mini library and a few paths that we haven't been on in a while. On one of the paths, another person walking her dog stopped us to literally gush over how gorgeous Nikita is. We kept our distance, and the girls were so good! I guess all strange people just need to lead with compliments to win these girls over! She also loved Lucy's cute little button tail. We then looped through their park where they heard a gopher and passed another lady who we saw later in our run in another park I guess her dog also needs to check out all the parks in the area! Right after that, we came across a guy walking a Lucy look-alike. We went to pass them but Lucy decided to head dive into the snow right beside them. It was the BEST roll of her life. He laughed and Lucy made another fan. When we got home we had lots of cuddles and pets before I refilled their water dishes and left. I hope they had as much fun as I did! I hope they're enjoying their naps! Lucy had 7 pees and 1 poop, Nikita had 5 pees and no poop. Runner: Laura DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.8 km DURATION: 42 minutes Lucy and Nikita were as excited as I was (if not more) to get out and enjoy this spring-like day. We headed out without a care in the world and did a little bird watching. Nikita sat on a stick (by accident ) and the next thing I knew she bounced so high that she almost landed in my arms! I had a good chuckle. And dear Lucy was trying to tie me up again but I was following her. Needless to say, we were running in circles getting dizzy so I surrendered. It was not worth falling down. Thanks for a great time today ladies! You never disappoint. 2 pees for Nikita and 3 for Lucy. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #5 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.6 km DURATION: 1 hour Today, I had the pleasure of running Nikita and Lucy again they were my very first intro to DGR and they are so affectionate and friendly with me that they seem like different dogs. Case in point, trying to convince Nikita that belly rubs and head snuggles are great but runs and walks are also great! Lucy agreed with me, and was getting quite impatient with Nikita. We finally hit the road and took our time jogging and walking along. Nikita's foot looked good so we had a few solid running stretches through their park. Since it was such a nice day out, we ended up going through their park twice so they got a little bit of proper run in. The weather was so good that they even heard a gopher! Spring is coming girls! Thanks for the run! Lucy only had 4 pees and a poop, Nikita had the rest of the pees. She's peeing a lot more than normal. Runner: Laura DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.4 km DURATION: 35 minutes Lucy and Nikita were bound and determined to go gopher hunting today. They showed me a few of their favourite spots but the holes were full of ice. I tried to explain to them that it was a bit early, boy was I wrong. As soon as those words came out of my mouth, a fat brown furry creature ran across the path and I held on for dear life. SPEED WORK!!!! I had know idea that my legs could move that fast. Once they realized they weren’t going to catch it (what ever it was), the gals and I made our way back home. Thanks for another excellent adventure my friends! 1 pee each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE:5.3 km DURATION: 1 hour Today I was greeted by 2 dancing doggies! Lucy was so excited; barking and spinning in circles. She needed many belly rubs before I was allowed to put her harness on. Lol. Nikita slowly wiggled her bum close to get some scratches! We started at a fast pace. Nikita was on a mission to get to the path! Once we were there, Lucy and Nikita's spidey senses kicked in to overdrive. I'm not sure what they were looking at but both girls were sure that there was something lurking in the bushes down by the train tracks so we scurried off the path. Once we hit the sidewalk, Nikita wasn't interested in running anymore. Instead, she wanted to fill my pockets and cover me in snow. 😂 Nikita would constantly dip her nose in a pile of snow then rub her face all over my thigh. Quirky lil girl she is. 😉 We spent the rest of the run at a slower pace and soaked in the warm sun. It was very peaceful. By the time i got them home, both girls were ready for a big puppy nap! Thanks for the awesome afternoon girls! The Scoop Lucy: had 4 pees. Nikita: had 3 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Destiny DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing Nikita and Lucy again! I let them out in their backyard right when I got there, and Nikita decided that she was good there, thanks, and would just like an hour of belly rubs. Sorry girl! Up and at 'em! We had lots of pets before setting off for their usual park, and the theme of today's run was no plan and no pace! We stopped at all of the doggy-booked bulletin boards they could find, and had lots of belly rubs during their snow breaks. I think they are also excited about the warmer weather! They (Nikita especially) loved looking out over the creek valley with the warm prairie wind in their faces. It seemed like our hour flew by, and none of us wanted it to end, so when we got back home we had lots of post-run pets and snuggles. I definitely miss these two and I think they miss me! Thanks for the great hour girls! Lucy had the poop and 6 pees, Nikita had 5 pees and one in the yard before I had the app on. Runner: Laura DGR RUN OF THE DAY# 2 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.6 km DURATION: 36 minutes Happy, happy, bounce, bark... wiggle, wiggle, smoochy, smooch! That pretty much sums up the first 5 minutes. These two were as happy as I was today. It probably had something to do with the weather️. I get the feeling Lucy, Nikita and I are all fair weather runners (okay, maybe it’s just me) but I’ll tell ya, we had a spectacular time! It was wonderful to soak in all that glorious sunshine and getting a good dose of Vitamin D. Thanks for a really good time today Ladies! Pleasure as always. 2 pees for Nikita and 1 pee for Lucy today. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 2. km DURATION: 40 minutes Nikita and Lucy were performing like they were on Broadway! 😂 Seriously, I think they’ve taking “ Hammin’ it Up” to a whole different level. Oh the looks they would give me if I didn’t appease their every whim were priceless. All good as I needed some puppy love today and perhaps they knew. Thanks for brightening my day ladies! 3 pees each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE :2.5 km DURATION: 44 minutes Lucy and Nikita always act like there’s a sense of urgency when I first arrive and we have to leave right away! But as soon as we get outside, it’s a completely different story😂 Today, we had to have some belly rubs and hugs before we even got to the end of their property! This pretty much set the tone for the rest of our journey. No worries, these gals always know how to entertain no matter what speed we go. Thanks for a fantastic time today ladies! 5 pees each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 2.5 km DURATION: 39 minutes These two crazy kids were bouncing all over the place when I finally blessed them with my presence.😜 Lucy and Nikita, like all the the pooches in Calgary, we’re pleased as punch for the frozen precipitation that blessed us overnight. So, we casually made our way around the hood leaving our mark (footprints and such) behind. Thanks for a delightful afternoon outing ladies! Cheers! The Scoop: 8 pees. Runner: Tracy There were some spooky sightings this week that makes us realize that Halloween is around the corner. Check out our pups and all the pumpkins, ghosts and skeletons!
![]() DISTANCE: 7.12 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today was a perfect day with Nikita and Lucy! Neither of them were in a hurry to get anywhere or do anything, so we just happily ran along at a really steady pace; stopping occasionally for pee and sniff breaks. We didn't even get tangled in the leashes! We went and checked out some new paths in Harvest Hills which the girls loved. We also scouted some soon to be opened paths that look really good! Towards the end of the run, we took a few more shade breaks, and by the end had easily breezed through 7 km. All in all, it was a perfect day, and judging by the constant smiles and snuggles from Nikita and Lucy, I think they would agree! Thanks for the great run girls! No poops for either, 3 pees for Nikita, and the rest for Lucy! Runner: Laura |
