Hello Nell! I heard she was speedy but oh boy, nothing can prepare one for Nell on a mission! Today's mission was to give me an Express Tour of her neighbourhood that I really only saw as a blur. She is so athletic but also so well behaved that it was a true pleasure to be able to run her today. She was so good around other people and dogs. The only reason it took us just over an hour to do the 12 km was because of a few photo/snow rolls/pee breaks. She loves the snow! Although I'm not sure if it's the snow she loves or the chance to run her haltie off that she loved more. We ended the run with a sprint up her block to her home to try to get a bit more energy burnt off but that really only worked for me! She was ready to go for another hour. But unfortunately, I definitely was not! However, it was such a fun run with such a lovely girl that had I had the time I would've loved to let her take me further and faster. That amounted for an absolutely wonderful fun fast run Nell! 1 pee, no poop.

Speedy Nell was so happy to be outside! She had some great moments of rolling around and burrowing her face in the snow. For the most part she was super focused on her run, but there was one green garbage truck that really caught her eye...she seemed to want to catch a ride on the back of it! We also came across a Pitbull cross who was having a blast running in the snow...Nell was not too happy to see him, but his owner regained control quite quickly and we were off and on our way. Nell had a couple pees today.

Happy Valentine's Day, Nell!! What a beautiful sunny day for a run and to celebrate love! Nell and I soared around our loop today as we celebrated our own version of Valentine's Day, Pal-entine’s day! Us gals are the best of friends which makes this holiday great for us, adding on our own little twist to the name! Although I love spending time with Nell all the time, today was nice to celebrate her and our friendship. In honour of the holiday, I brought lots of extra treats for my girl. It wouldn't have been a festive run without a fun heart filtered photo to top it all off! Thanks for sharing love day with me Nell, I feel spoiled already! See you Sunday! No scoop to report today.

Happy Tuesday, Nell!! Thank goodness, we can finally get our butts outside. Although it was very cold, we avoided the wind! YAY! It was a pretty clear day on the paths and in the sky. The sun helped keep us warm and the cleared trails helped with Miss Nell's bare paws. I wasn't sure if Nell would make it the full loop, so I aimed for 50 minutes to be on the safe side. However, Nell proved to me, the more snow, the better! With any chance she got, she was head first in the snow. Nell loves it!! Unfortunately, she doesn't have the usual long coat of a Border Collie, or I bet she would be outside all the time. We cruised around our loop today; thankfully I warmed up right away from trying to keep up with her. Our eyelashes froze, and our coats were covered in a light dusting of snow but, we survived with big smiles on our faces! Thanks for getting me out in the snow, Nell! I needed the dose of some fresh air. See you on Thursday! No scoop today.

Happy Thursday, Nell! Finally, warm(ish) enough to get back outside. With my many layers and Nell's eagerness to hit the pavement, we were off! This brisk -15C wasn't too bad especially when we really started to get moving a few minutes in; we were warm in no time. We only passed a few others today, perhaps because we got started a little earlier than usual and we didn't see the after-work rush or maybe people are still hiding inside. Well, I must say, my time hibernating is over! It just wasn't any fun. I tried to run around the track one evening, and I can't even begin to tell you how boring that was, Nell, never again! I could not have been more excited for today and to see your smiling face, this is what I have been waiting for all week. It looks like Sunday is going to be another chilly day, but I think you and I can do it! Stay warm until then, Miss Nell! The scoop: 1 pee.

Happy Thursday Nell! This is the last nice day before the polar vortex so let's make it a good one!! We hit the pavement rockin’ and rollin’; sprinting along the river. As we zoomed through all the people walking home from work, we came across many fire-pit ”pop-ups”. This city adds such a unique touch to their pathways, I love it! It was a perfect addition to our evening run. Watching the sunset combined with the smell and warmth of campfires along the way; it was amazing! Yet again - another great run with my gal pal, Nell. It sounds as if Sunday may be a no go for a run being that it will be -24 so hopefully, we will be back at it Tuesday! Until then, Miss Nell! Can't wait! No scoop to report today.

Happy Tuesday, Nell! How about a quick little 10 km to break up the day!? We zoomed around the river today. I am so glad I looked at a map and realized the park pathway comes up in behind the Saddledome. This allows for less weaving in traffic through East Village and stops at the various lights. Wahoo! It was a bluebird, sun-shining day today although a little chilly. However, it was.ideal running temp for Miss Nell and me. A light jacket, a toque, and some mitts and we're good to go! Thankfully, the ice from the weekend had begun to melt, and where it still was a little slippery, there were some rocks down for some traction. With all these open patches, we were able to make great time today on our little 10ish K loop. Well, Miss, thanks for sharing my lunch with me, I'll be back again for our run Thursday, rest up! The scoop: 1 pee.

Happy Sunday, Nell! WOW, is it ever slippery out there today. We should have been wearing skates! With these slippery conditions, our long run today got off to a very slow start, it was impossible to get any traction and don't even get me started on those hills! It would have been pretty comical for anyone driving by to see Nell and me run as if we were in the Flintstones trying to get our car to move, Yabbadabadoooo! Finally, we caught up to the Bobcat cleaning the pathways, creating a nice little trail for Nell and me to really take off. It was smooth sailing all the way to the Crowchild footpath. Today was by far the furthest I have even run with Nell but I swear, she could have done it over again. She is easily the greatest distance running partner; her motivation is the exact thing I need to keep going. Even in weather like today, we were both cruising with giant smiles on our faces. Thanks for coming along with me today and keeping me company, You're a rockstar! I'll be back again Tuesday for some more fun! See you then. The scoop: 1 pee.

My speedy girl is back! Hi Nell, this has been the longest 6 weeks of my life! I can't even begin to tell you how much I missed you. Running is not the same without my speedy gal, Nell! This girl sure didn't skip a beat. We took off in full force, I'm pretty sure our first kilometre was 4 mins or something crazy like that. Unfortunately, I can't keep that pace up for the whole 10k but I sure did try my best to be as speedy as I could. It's been a while since I've run that quick, but boy did I need it! There is no better way of letting off some stress of the day than sprinting along the river with my best bud. Also, could we have asked for a better night?! It was beautiful. I am so glad I was able to share the spectacular sunset evening jog with my favourite speedster. Keep it up girly, I'll be back again Sunday for some more fun! See you then! No scoop to report today.

Happy Tuesday, Nell!! A first for us in a while; back to back runs! Now, I am very sore but you, on the other hand, could run this loop all over again. She's a machine!! Unfortunately, just like that, Nell is off again. She and her mom are away for the holidays in Vancouver. It will be nice to see some green grass again and play near the ocean. As well, I hear Nell is going to be able to spend some time with some other dogs; it will be an entertaining Christmas socializing extravaganza, and I can't wait to hear all about it. While you're away Nell, I will make sure I keep running our speedy loop so when you're home, it will be like we've never skipped a beat. Miss you already. See you in 6 weeks! No scoop to report today.

Happy Monday, Nell! And welcome home from your little vacation! So glad to see your mommy is feeling better. I bet you're sure excited to be back, I know I am! I missed this pup so much, and she clearly missed running. I have never seen her so happy to hit the pavement in my life. She was ecstatic! How could I not be excited too!? We zoomed out of her building and soared around the river. Our running stint will be a short one as Nell is off to Vancouver for a few weeks, but I am sure glad for these couple of days together. We have become the best of buds and running sure isn't the same without her. We had a lovely speedy run full of girl talk. We were chasing daylight now that the sun goes down even earlier now but thankfully made it home just in the nick of time! See you again tomorrow, Nell! Can't wait! No scoop to report today.

Happy Wednesday, Nell! WOW, what a difference an hour makes, where did the sun go!? Today, speedy Nell and I spent our hour chasing daylight. We zoomed around lucky enough to catch the beautiful sunset as we arrived back at Nell's building. Although, the shade made for a bit more of a chilly run, the setting sun made for some great motivation! We cruised around, our feet crunching on the freshly fallen snow. I am sure glad I decided to wear my Icebugs, no slipping around for me this winter as I try and keep up with Miss Nell. Thanks for toughing out the chilly evening with me Nell, I'll be back again (earlier) on Friday! See you then! The scoop: 1 pee.

It's Friday, Nell!! FRI-YAY! The best day of the week, hello weekend! We were having too good of luck with the weather these last few runs, we were due for some gloom, but despite the odds, the sun eventually came out! Hurray! It made for a chilly, but beautiful river run. There were many new additions to the pathways today. Lime has finally hit the streets, and it looks super cool! The Car2Go version of bicycles seems to be popping up all over the place. I can't wait to try these out, even on a bike I bet I'd still be too slow for Nell! After scoping out the new wheels, we zoomed around our loop, fighting the wind the whole first half. Thankfully that makes for a significant tailwind and cruised all the way back to Nell's, making pretty good time!! Another speedy run in the books for Nell and me, we will be back on the trails again Sunday. Until then, Nell! The scoop: 1 pee.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, Nell! Today, we are the running dead, SPOOKY. We floated like (speedy) ghosts around the river. As we soared like spirits in the night, I shared with Nell some of the spookiest ghost stories of Calgary. The one that creeped her out the most was the Zoo Bridge. Legend that police officers still get calls to the area because there are reports that claim to hear the screams of a child. However, once arriving on the scene, there is no sign of a child in sight! Years ago, six-year-old Donnie was playing in the field, now the zoo, when a man approached him offering candy, then lured him down under the bridge where he was murdered. Some say Donnie has never left. It is safe to say, we went nowhere near that bridge, but the story sure did make for a spooktacular run! Thanks for the Halloween fun and chilling ghost tales, Nell! See you on Wednesday!! The scoop: 1 pee.

Happy Monday, Nell!! Hope you had a lovely weekend with your family. I’m looking forward to our busy week of runs together and what better way to kick off the week with another 2nd faster run!! I am very curious as to how much under 6 min/km we are!! It seems unbeatable but we will keep trying!!! A busier day on the pathways that we are used to; it seems everyone else is following suit and starting their week off with some exercise! It’s fun to see so many people out enjoying the beautiful fall evening. Nell and I sped around our loop with no breaks until the end, she had a serious groove going so I didn’t want to slow her down. Even though Nell probably could have run the loop all over again, It was a must that we stop to have a photo shoot and show off her cuteness! Thanks for the Monday run, Nell! I’ll be back again on Wednesday! No scoop to report today.
