DGR RUN OF THE DAY
DISTANCE: 10.4 km DURATION: 59 minutes
Fall is a wondrous season. It is still warm outside, with the light popping out above the clouds. I still brought a jacket, but found I had to wrap it around my waist as I got warm quickly. Nell was off like a bullet again. I swear she is getting faster. The first 3 minutes was like a 400m run as I was gunning it; making sure she gets up to the speed she wants. After that, it was a little more moderate as we both settled into a consistent pace at the same time. I never really know where we will go, but we went towards the fisheries by Inglewood. The path was in the woods, with the trees bright and colourful; casting own shadows throughout the path. It felt like it was just us - lost and running with abandon towards nothing. A run always feels better when you don't worry about the destination. As we ran on towards the Bow River, leading southeast, we found ourselves in an area that looked like a countryside. With the dirt path we trekked on, and grass that was about waist level, I thought I was no longer in Calgary. No concrete jungle in these parts. We barely saw anyone on the way to the fish hatcheries except some landscapers that admired Nell and called for her at times, with one gent shouting "Careful, careful! Cute dog alert!" We saw a few people nestled in the bushes of the fish hatcheries, conversing and enjoying their time along in the wilderness, and some seeking out birds or ducks it looked like, decked out in camouflage to better hide themselves. One woman had what looked like a large rifle, but it was only a camera, which makes more sense. Nell was great today, but as soon as I got in, it seemed like she had more energy, bounding into the room, then coming back, then running off again. A faster run is in order. I look forward to the next one! The Scoop: 1 pee, 1 poo.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY
DISTANCE: 12.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 15 minutes
This cool morning quickly turned warm when the sunshine arrived and it was time to take speedy Nell for her morning run. Fitness Trainer Alejandro who I am grooming to be Nell’s regular runner joined us. There are not many runners who could keep up with Nell and hold a decent conversation but Alejandro could do both. We had a great time discussing books (from Vonnegut to Orwell) so Nell got a run and we had a mini book club discussion. Nell enjoyed a quick dip in the river which always re-energizes her. We saw bunnies, squirrels, and even a fluffy grey cat but Nell remained focused on her workout. She did have 2 personal fitness instructors at her disposal (Alejandro and me). Thanks for the Sunday morning run on this fine autumn day! The Scoop: 1 poo, 1 pee. I think Alejandro and Nell are going to be a fabulous team!

DGR RUN OF THE DAY
DISTANCE: 10.5 km DURATION: 1 hour
It is always fun to run with Nell in part because she lives in such a great area near the Stampede Grounds and there are lovely pathways and lots of exciting things happening in her hood. Today, we ran past a Beer Run where participants run from one beer stop to the next. Nell was only interested in bunnies, cats, rollerbladers and other dogs but definitely not beer. I, on the other hand, was a bit jealous. The cool autumn weather made for a speedy Sunday. Thanks Nellie! The Scoop: 4 pees, 2 poos.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY

I had a speedy run with Nell today. It was so nice to see her again! We started off strong and got into a good cadence. Nell enjoyed playing with some bunnies and tried, unsuccessfully, to herd a delivery truck. As much as possible, she was running in the grass, and seemed to enjoy that. Nell listened very well. It was really fun to get the chance to run with again! The Scoop: 1 pee only.
DISTANCE: 7.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes
Nell and I had an awesome time today visiting the new Harvey Passage! Nell was quite sure she wanted to herd all the rapids; it was very entertaining. The Scoop: 1 pee, 1 poo.

It was a little rainy at the beginning of our run but then it turned out to be a great evening for a run with Nell! We zoomed into Mission with a few quick bathroom breaks and photo ops but for the most part, it was a speedy little Friday night run! Thanks for another great workout Nell. See you again Sunday!! The Scoop: 1 pee. 1 poo.
DISTANCE: 11.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes
Bunnies to our left and bunnies to our right! A cooler morning run with Nell was just what I need to start this Thursday. It has been a long time since our last outing but I can always depend on Speedy Nell to deliver a workout! She also got some mental stimulation with all the bunnies, squirrels, and one Lime Scooter for her to herd. We kept our focus on running and got close to a 12K. Nell, thanks for a great visit with your mom too! The Scoop: 3 pees, 2 poo.
DISTANCE: 8.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes

Happy Sunday, Nell! It looks like we lucked out with the weather this weekend. It was supposed to rain, but we dodged the bullet and were able to stay dry on both our runs, from the rain that it. Nell and I ran into Mission on our usual trail. At our turn-around point, Nell was just so excited to be at the river that without a moment to stop and think, she leaped entirely into the river, into the deepest part I may add! She impressed me with her excellent swimming skills, even though still on the leash, she has mastered the doggy paddle and floated about the river with ease. After a little cool-down and break from running, we zoomed back to Nell's house with a few more rests to eat some grass and enjoy the lovely afternoon. What a way to end the weekend, and kick off another work week. See you Wednesday, Nell! The scoop: 1 pee.
DISTANCE: 9.07 km DURATION: 1:06:51
Happy Friday, Nell! Long time no see! I have been eagerly awaiting this run, as I think you were too. The energy was contagious as soon as I walked in the door. Nell was wasting no time; she was ready to go! We zoomed along our usual loop, however a little slower than normal. I accidentally went on a harder run than anticipated yesterday, so my legs were not too pleased with me today! Despite the soreness, Nell and I had a great run. Some things have sure changed in the last few weeks of being gone; scooters seem to be the primary mood of transportation now, how fun! People scoot scooting everywhere you look. Good for me, because they are so fun, but just another thing Miss Nell needs to "herd . I think scooters go up there with skateboards for Miss Nell; she's so wound up wanting to get on them and see what they are that this caused for a few stoppages on our route today. Needless to say, our run today was very entertaining and perfectly timed as we just missed the rain! Thanks for the run, Nell! See you on Sunday. The scoop: 2 pees, 1 poop.
DISTANCE: 12.38 km DURATION: 1:09:44
Today, Nell wanted to be a nature girl so we headed out to do a loop by the fish hatchery and the zoo. The paths were surprisingly empty for such a gorgeous day. So aside from a slow start, we were able to cruise right along. We did make a few river stops as it got pretty hot out during our run - so hot that when we arrived at St Patrick's Island Park, I went in with her! Other highlights include seeing a muskox, seeing the rapids, and running through East Village instead of running around it like we usually do. When we finished we were both pretty tuckered so we had lots of cuddle time in the elevator and in her home. I loved filling in for Paige, Nell is a very special girl! Thanks for the great couple weeks of runs girl! I had a blast and I hope you did too!
DISTANCE: 12.04 km DURATION: 1:08:42
Today Nell and I enjoyed a beautiful Sunday morning run together! It wasn't too hot, the paths weren't too busy, and everything was just right! We still made some cool-down and time in the river where Nell got to stare at some ducks which was a bonus. There were lots of runners out and about which she loved - lots of people to 'race'! We stopped quick at the running room in Eau Claire for a bathroom/water/meet-up with some of Nell's adoring fans, and then easily finished up our 12km - nice and relaxed. When we got back home, Nell sat down and gave me a look like 'ok, in a couple of minutes I'll be ready again!' Sorry girl, you tuckered me out! Thanks for the great run Nell! I hope you have a great day! 1 poop, 2 pees.
