DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes It was quite a bit cooler on today's walk with Mira and Nova. We got a little wet from some light rain that came and went. We even went back to my car to grab my umbrella, but Nova was not a fan of the umbrella so I put it in my pocket (it’s one of the compact ones thankfully, so it was easy to carry around) and endured the rain. Luckily, it let up, and was just a sprinkle. The girls' paws and legs were pretty soaked by the end of our walk, so I gave the girls a quick towel down before saying goodbye. Great job today Mira and Nova! The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops (Mira) and 0 pees, 0 poops (Nova). Runner: Ryan

DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Today we had a really nice walk with lots of lamppost sniffs and scooting around sidewalk concrete pouring. There was at least half a dozen sidewalks getting a spring fix up. Both girls were wonderful at walking around and hopping back up on the sidewalk. I hope the cooler temps were nice for them but the sun was certainly starting to heat things up! The Scoop: 4 pees, 1 poo for Mira. Nova had 2 pees. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Today, I woke up and felt like joining my son Ryan for his Monday morning walk with Mira and Nova. It has been awhile since I have seen these Husky gals and it is always a treat. The bonus is that they live close by and I could get a coffee with my son post-outing.. Mira definitely led the way and we got to enjoy the refreshing post-rain air. Nova was a bit uncertain about me at first but that did not last long. Mira enjoyed tiptoeing through the wet grass with me while Nova just trotted at a nice cruising pace on the pavement with Ryan. We were on the lookout for a bobcat in the area but we only saw squirrels. Phew! I also got a cute photo with Nova and the Nova pole. Thanks for letting me join the party today. The Scoop: 1 poop for Mira, several pees for both gals. Runners: Ryan and Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 12 minutes We started off in a new direction today and I think finding sniffs by the pathway early on really helped to settle them down and subdue their eager pulling. On this spring morning, there was lots happening on this new route. The girls told me they wanted ice cream but we had to just take a picture by the mural instead. Then, we found a nice green-space to walk through and as little sisters do, Nova was a little pesky trying to get Mira to play. It was cooler after last night's rain and the girls were on top tier behaviour and solicited a few compliments for their good looks from a passersby. The Scoop: many pees for both and even one poop each. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 6K DURATION: 1 hour 16 minutes The girls had a ton of energy today and really tested my core strength right out the door. We headed to the path around the golf course but Mira left a present so we turned around back to the garbage and headed the other way on the bike path. Oh boy, by the train tracks there is definitely a family of bunnies that caught their noses attention! That must have given their brains some great stimulation however because they walked much more relaxed on the way back. It is always fun to explore a new route! The Scoop: 4 pees each, 1 poo for Mira. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Good Morning Mira and Nova! It was a cooler morning with a light sprinkle of rain coming and going throughout our walk, but we didn’t really get wet. We walked past lots of blossoming flowers which the girls loved to sniff. I made sure that they weren’t walking through people’s gardens though. On our way home, 3 rabbits ran out in front of us onto a quiet street. I had to somewhat quickly bend my knees, grab hold of the leashes and ground myself as the girls pulled in their direction. The bunny sighting made Nova pretty excited as she proceeded to roll in the grass then jump on Mira. You’re funny Nova! Great job today girls! The Scoop: 1 poop and 3 pees (Mira). 0 poops, 1 pee (Nova). Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 11 minutes It was one of those "starts cool but ends roasting hot" kinda walks. Summer is in the air with green all around, flowers blooming, and chalk art on the sidewalks. Mira had two big wins today, dropping a chicken bone that she found on the sidewalk and responding really quickly to 'leave it' when she wanted to chase a squirrel. Nova found it harder to give up the chase but she is such a bouncy silly girl when she wants to chase, and she actually refocused pretty quickly when we walked past a flock of pigeons. Have a great weekend Mira and Nova. See you next time! The Scoop: 5 pees for Mira and 2 pees for Nova. No poops to report. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.6 km DURATION: 1 hour Nova gave me a couple big hugs as I came through the door and Mira said "hello" with an energetic wagging tail. It was a cooler morning, and the ground was still a bit wet from the rain. Mira chose to walk on the edge of the sidewalks, where she occasionally chomped at blades of wet grass. Nova indulged on the grass tasting as well, and I got a good picture of her as she nibbled on some. You gotta eat your vegetables, right girl’s? The sun made a couple guest appearances on our walk, but I was it mainly hidden behind clouds. Great walking today Mira and Nova! The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poop (Mira) and 1 pee, 0 poops (Nova). Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 7 minutes Oh my goodness these two ! Nova was shy at first, but as soon as the door opened they both quickly took off. Nova was low to the ground and moving. I was not expecting these two to be so fast. It took me by surprise. We made our way to the gully; taking sniff breaks along the way. We went down for a drink in the creek at the bridges and to cool off our toes. We crossed over Bow Trail to the lookout by the golf course and ran down the first half of the hill to the river path. I didn’t want to run all the way back up. The girls were speedy on the way down, and then on our way home they slowed down to a walk. I really enjoyed these two. They were a pleasure to spend time with, and after a couple of treats Nova was a bit more comfortable with me. Thanks for spending time with me today Mira and Nova! The Scoop: 1 poop (Mira) and so many pees (mostly Mira). Runner: Michelle W. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 6.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 15 minutes Sister See, Sister Do. These two can be real funny. They both love to go their own direction but Mira is nose to the ground a little bit more, if she finds a good smell, Nova is hopping over to join her in a heartbeat. When it comes to squirrels, I can't say yet who usually sees one first but they both get sight on it pretty quick. There was a little less chasing today though more stalking with the eyes. I'll keep observing to find out who is the quicker hunter . The Scoop: Mira had 7 pees. Nova had 3 pees, There was 0 poops from either. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.9 km DURATION: 1 hour A surprise spring snowstorm was perfect for these girls even if everyone else decided today was a day to stay inside. We got lots of comments from sidewalk shovelers saying 'those are two happy dogs' and they were right! There were no squirrels or birds to chase today but lots of snow bombs from the trees to dodge! One might have only gotten me and not Mira or Nova. They definitely would not have even been bothered. The Scoop: 1 poop, 7 pees for Mira. Nova had 0 poops, 4 pees. Runner; Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 9 minutes Nova wasn't too sure about this new person showing up, but once we got the leash on and stepped outside she remembered it's run time!! She started off at a great clip then settled in nicely beside me once she saw I was okay. We may have gotten carried away running along the river but it was so nice! We even stopped for a quick paw dip. Nova slowed down a bit coming home but we just enjoyed the nice weather and kept steady. I can't wait to run with you again Nova! The Scoop: 1 poop and 3 pees. Runner: Danielle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4K DURATION: 55 minutes Well gals, we tried our best today didn’t we? Not exaggerating, I think it snowed 3-4” in the hour that we were out. It was fun at first but then Nova and I started slipping around! Mira showed us both up by keeping her feet the whole way. The snow piled up on my toque looked like a beehive at the end. Mira happily ate some snow and Nova bounced around and jumped in it. We made it back safely and with good memories of a crazy April snowstorm. The Scoop: 1 poop, lots of pees for Mira, 2 pees for Nova. Runner: Carley DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Happy Friday Mira and Nova! There was the most amount of snow on the ground today out of any other day this week, but at least it didn’t feel as cold as some of the other days. Mira and Nova certainly didn’t mind a little snow! I think we saw the Easter Bunny out and about today. Maybe he was scoping out good hiding places for chocolate eggs. Mira and Nova combined their strength together to pull me towards the bunny. My feet slid on the snow covered pavement as I tried to pull the dogs back in. At this point, the bunny was just teasing the girls because it wouldn’t completely run away. It would just hop far enough out of range as we got closer and closer. Once we got to the end of the block, I lead us around the corner so Mira and Nova would end their pursuit. Awesome job today girls! The Scoop: 2 pees, 1 poop (Mira) and 0 pees, 0 poops (Nova). Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute What a beautiful morning for a stroll. Sun, blue sky, a light breeze and two excited Huskies. Mira and Nova pulled me for the first few blocks, so I had to give them some resistance with a slower walk. It’s like they were doing that CrossFit workout where you pull the weighted sled on the ground. In this case I was the weighted sled. We didn’t see as many squirrels today unfortunately, but there were lots of barking dogs behind fences. The girls were excellent in keeping their cool as we passed by. Sometimes it’s near the end of our outings together that Nova likes to play fight with her older sister. This time, she jumped right on top of Mira out of the blue and that was it. What was that for Nova? Mira, continued walking unfazed. Awesome job today girls! The Scoop: 4 pees 1 poo (Mira) 2 pees, 0 poos (Nova). Runner: Ryan |
