Hi Tinkerbell! This is my pet name for Mikka. I have come to pick you up so that you can visit us for a little while. I had Mikka’s favourite boy, Huxley, in the Jeep with me when I picked her up. She was very happy to see him and they even gave each other a little kiss as a greeting. On the topic of new friends, Mikka met Sir Ennis and they got on really well. I think both these mature canines felt comfortable and could relate to the quieter life style. Miss M loves to cuddle and be wrapped up. My mother was over on Wednesday, and Mikka has met her before. Miss M has her wrapped around her paw, and my mother wraps Mikka up and holds her like a baby. A very big win-win for both of them. When it was not possible to snuggle Mikka like a little baby, Albert Monkey (the stuffed toy) filled in as a little substitute. Friday was a very busy day, Mikka came with us to take Aoife to the vet for her spay and then consoled her on the way home when we picked her up. You have a lot of love to give Tinkerbell, now that you are home, you make sure to shower Mom with all that love. We all miss you already. Fingers crossed we see you soon.

Hello Miss Mikka. We have all been awaiting your arrival. It was a busy afternoon with us ‘Gals’ today. To kick it all off, Aoife needed to have play-time with her friend in her backyard. Aoife hops and jumps and shows off to Mikka. Little M watches and prances around her; keeping her eye on the elephant in the yard.🤣 Then, we girls did some baking and cooking. As you can see by the photo of Mikka in the refrigerator she really got into the 'kitchen time'. After all that spent energy, it was time to have a little nap with Aunty. I wrapped her up and she loved it. She is the only pup that is allowed up on Aunty & Uncle's bed. Ssshhh, don’t tell Aoife. Time for dinner and monitoring the ‘switching of the dog food bowls.’ These two gals get on so well that each of them eat out of the other's bowls. You have to make sure two heads are not eating out of the same bowl. Henry had to play Puppy Police Officer so that each got their own food. Bellies full and now it is TV time with Uncle Henry. Miss Mikka = you pop on over anytime you want to as we all love having you visit.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.8 km DURATION: 36 minutes Hello Mikka, do you remember me? Your Aunty Michelle stuffed my pockets with special Mikka treats to bring with me on our walk. Mikka showed me that all her treats should all go in the bowl!! How about we save some for after our Saturday Stroll? Lots of sniffs had to be done during out time out. The change of season must bring out new and interesting smells. I hope to take you out again soon or at least join you and Aunty Michelle. The Doggy Business Report: 3 pees total. Runner: Henry (with Michelle as the ghost writer) after getting the scoop Miss Mikka……I am here to pick you up for our day together. Tinkerbell was all curled up like a little Mini Donut having her morning sleep. Her big eyes open up and tic tic tic her toes shuffled across the floor to receive me. She just knew that this was much more than our normal lunch hour stroll. Yes, Miss M, we are going for a car ride and then spending the day with Henry and Aoife. Oh, how this young gal loves car rides! She always wants to drive when she gets in. Driving requires you to be able to see over the steering wheel, you are the co-pilot today. "Do we get to go to Starbucks today?" See the photo with her standing on her back feet. Miss Mikka loves the drive-thru, but today our schedule was different. Next time I do promise. When we got to my house, Mikka and Aoife did their little dance of ‘Hello’. Aoife being the elephant was all excited her little friend was back, and Aoife tried to say ‘Hi’ without being stepped on. These two do really well together. When they want to play and have a doggy conversation in the house, I put Mikka up on a chair so that she is not in any way under Aoife’s big legs. Both their heads bop around and they really do look like they are having a conversation and some girl talk. Even though Mikka’s whole body is the size of Aoife’s head. The whole family loves to see Mikka, I caught her & Henry having a little nap snuggled up together. At dinner-time, like all fur kids, the doggy girls wanted the other's food. No, you can look and sniff but let's eat what is in your own bowls. I received the look of ’But her bowl looks better.' It was a great day that we all had together. Miss Mikka you give Mom and Dad extra love this weekend. See you soon.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 1.6 km DURATION: 39 minutes Mikka texted me and asked if I would like to hang out together at lunch today. Why that sounds like fun Tinkerbell🧚. Miss M was having a little nap but was up & at it when she heard me. The first thing she told me was that she was a bit peckish. That's not good. Let me get out the ’Mikka Only’ treats that I brought. 😊 Time to work on our tan. We tried to stay off the sidewalks and visited a couple of dirt paths. It did get a bit hot today and I could tell Miss Mikka was ready to go home and cool off with some fresh water. Great seeing you today. The Doggy Business Report: just pees, no poop today. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.9 km DURATION: 37 minutes Oh, Miss Mikka, you are one spunky monkey today. Did you know I was coming? Tinkerbell met me at the door and was so excited that she got up on her hind legs to give me a welcome hug😍. There was no lallygagging today. Miss M’s little legs were moving rapidly. She was a gal on a mission. We galloped through the other part of the cul-de-sac today and over to the little green space that Mikka loves to run in. I don't know what it is about this little space but Mikka smiles the entire time and has to run. It was a real pleasure seeing you today Miss M. The Doggy Business Report: lots of pees and that was it. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.9 km DURATION: 38 minutes Wakey wakey sleepy head. Mikka was sound a sleep when I arrived. After about 5 minutes calling, I headed to her bedroom. There I found her all crawled out sleeping on the sunbeams. Come on Tinkerbell let's get our ’daily quota of steps in.’ Mikka was up and ready instantly. We did a combination of two of our different routes BUT in reverse. A few times Mikka pulled me to go our normal route. 🤣 Mikka had lots of smiles today. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend Tinkerbell. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops and a few pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 1.8 km DURATION: 35 minutes Mikka, it is a Saturday lunch date. Mikka was waiting for us at the door. I think she knew my husband Henry was joining on this walk. After our greetings, Mikka gave me ’The Look’. It is treat time. No problem Tinkerbell, just one and then we have to burn some calories. Another set of neighbours expressed how impressed they were with Mikka’s stamina at her young age. This gal always lovers her walks. The Doggy Business Report: no poops just 4 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.8 km DURATION: 37 minutes Hi, Tinkerbell (my nickname for Mikka). It is the perfect day for a walk with this little one. I have missed you. I know that Dan took good care when Aunty M could not come. Upon my arrival, I called out a couple of times and then Mikka came running. I tried to get a pic but I must admit I was more excited to see her so the photos were all blurry. Mikka was full of pep and wonderment today. We had to stop about 6 neighbours up and inspect how he was pulling up his weeds. He and Mikka had a great conversation. Mikka got up close and inspected his work.🤣 This gal always puts a smile on my face. That was fun! I hope to see you soon Tinkerbell🧚. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #7 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.6 km DURATION: 33 minutes It was a lovely, warm day to meet sweet Mikka! She was a bit apprehensive of meeting someone new but I think I gained her trust through the use of treats; a very effective strategy! We had a nice, relaxing walk through the neighbourhood with A LOT of smells to investigate. I like to call the kind of walk we had a “sniffari”- a safari in which the dog explores with their nose! My dog loves doing that and I think Mikka does too. She is a sweetheart and I hope to see her again soon. The scoop: 1 poo, 3 pees. Runner: Dan Good Morning Mikka. It is a Girlfriend Day today. I opened the door and Mikka jumped up to me. This was a first, I was so happy to see such spunk. Off to Starbucks, Mikka was happy to go for a car ride. Aoife was whining in the backyard as soon as she heard Mikka's arrival. These two are like Mutt & Jeff, so opposite. I love watching how they follow each other about. We spent our time in the garden, Mikka was a real help. She looked so cute when she was trying to get my attention peeking up on the planter box. When it got hot in the afternoon, which Mikka can soak up lots of heat and sunshine. We went for a cuddle and a bit of computer work inside. Mikka caught a few Zzzzzz’s. Always special having a Girl's Day. Hope you can come back soon.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 1.4 km DURATION: 38 minutes My weekend has officially started with a lunchtime visit & walk with Miss Mikka (Tinkerbell🧚). Mikka reminds me of Tinkerbell as she is quick and petite as well as spunk. It was truly delightful to be reunited with this little lady. She remembered me and after a couple of calls came around the corner in a scurry. Then, she looked at her dish and wags her tail. ’Don't forget to put a treat in my dish, like you ALWAYS do.’ We pranced our way around the neighbourhood in the sun. It was a warm outing that kicked off the weekend perfectly. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop, 5 pees and lots of smiles. Runner: Michelle What a difference the past 11 days have shown us. Marley came to visit her ‘Surrogate Family’, while Mom and Dad had a vacation. We (Henry & Aoife and I) were so happy to have Miss M. in our home while we tried to keep up with information and the ever-changing world situation. Marley’s visit at the start of the week, included lots of play-time and walks with her buddies. Marley does have a full social network. There were many off-leash parks visited with Huxley, daily cuddles and dog toy tug-o-war games with Aoife and then there was bed sharing with Mikka. We are now 12 days later, and we humans do not socialize. It is a no-no to think about hugging and well, bed swapping…….. maybe never was a good idea for humans. The true ‘statement and expression’ of how much we love having Marley was when, we humans discussed Marley maybe going home early and Henry said “But I thought she was staying until Tuesday!!” Ha Ha, We love you sweetheart. Enjoy your cuddles now that you are home and give your family all that great Marley Love.
Pet Sitter: Michelle It is very true that “Good Things come in Little Packages”. We had a special house guest this past 10 days, Miss Mikka came to stay. She is such a wee one compared to our Aoife (Irish Wolfhound). Mikka loves being close to me and partaking in everything. There were a couple of times that she walked into the kitchen cupboard and the door shut on her. I wish I would have had my phone handy to get a snapshot of her sitting beside the flour when I opened the cupboard door. Mikka was our kitchen helper for sure. It did not matter who was cooking in the kitchen, she oversaw the operation. We had our routine of evening cuddles and she loved helping me do some on-line shopping. P.S, Mikka, you have very good taste! The weather turned rather cold on us, but she loved hanging out on Thursday with Huxley and having a ‘social ball’ of a time. Marley was staying with us for a portion of the time and these two mature gals hit it off - swapping beds and keeping my feet warm in the office. I called the pack of girls, my Starbucks Gals (see photo) Miss Mikka (a tall), Marley (Grande) and Aoife (Venti). Anyone who knows me, knows that coffee is my favourite beverage/food of all times. These girls are one of favourite pack to be with. I know Mikka, you will have lots and lots of cuddles with Mom, I hope to see you soon.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 9.4 km DURATION: 2 hours Happy Thursday Hux Pup🐾! Hop on into the Jeep, we are going to have another excellent adventure with the Girls of DGR. We picked up Marley, Aoife and Henry and headed over to Nosehill. As the old saying goes, ’you have to make hay while the sun shines.’ Let's get some fun and a run in before Mother Nature cops another of her hissy fits🤣. Marley was so excited she did not wait for her door to be opened, she was hot on my heels out through the driver's door. Aoife flew out of the back and Huxley had to run to catch up to these gals. We did our usual cardiac workout and at the 4.5 km mark, the gals went home. This gave Huxley and I a chance to pick up the speed and wander over to Edgemont and then back to my place for Huxley’s next date. The Doggy Business Report: all poochies had lots of pees. Only Huxley had 2 poops. Huxley Marley B. Miss Mikka, I have a surprise for you🎉😊. I have Huxley with me and since rumour has it the weather is going to change let's go for a ’good’ walk. Mikka was happy to see Huxley and they both were on a mission to greet EVERYONE!! We were the ’Welcome Wagon Greeting Crew’ this lunch hour. Not only did both pups have lots of pep in their steps, but they also would not let a greeting go without having a pat from each person out on the sidewalk. Thank goodness they did have ’ pep ’ because we would still be out walking🤣. The Doggy Business Report: many, many pees for both dogs. Runner: Michelle |
