![]() DISTANCE: 5.95 km DURATION: 55:13 It was a clear & sunny afternoon, over 20° and with a nice breeze along the ridge overlooking Bowmont Park. Loki and I made decent ground down and through the park. Several dogs out for walks as well, a few mountain bikers, and a pair of lone runners, and very little shade. One bird had half of a leash's length of space between becoming lunch, but not today. No other business except for running and sniffing. Loki I'm told this was our last run together as you and your crew are moving out of town. I'm sad to see such a fantastically well behaved dog go away, but for sure I'm glad to know that you're in such good hands! Runner: Michael

Pleased to meet you Loki! You just might be the best behaved dog I've ever met. Super huge thanks to Paige for introducing me to you while she's going to be away for a few weeks. It was a toasty 20C or more on our run. Paige showed me one of her frequent routes, with plenty of gentle inclines and grass; not much for shade though. We saw a few dogs but no big deal. A few birds were slippin' though. Don't they know not to sleep on Loki's watch? One hare caught Loki's stare, and decided it was best to get a hop along ASAP. Business as usual, 1: #1 and no #2's. Looking forward to next time Loki. You are a pleasure to run! Runner: Michael Now, it's Mike's turn to meet Loki. I compared Loki similar to Lincoln in the fact that Loki just wants to go, and is a ball of energy right out the gate. Sure enough, we were off. Due to the warmer weather, Loki's speed started to die off, and we began a very enjoyable pace. Mike was a huge hit with the camelback and Loki couldn't get enough of the endless water supply; I seriously need to get myself one of those! Lucky for Mike, Loki is a pretty low maintenance running companion, rarely goes to washroom and leaves no business for you to pick up. The odd pee here and there but when he's out he's here to run! We did our usual loop through Scenic Acres and Silvers Springs, finishing right about on him. Loki will be in good hands with Mike until the young guy moves away. One more run with my boy tomorrow, let's make it a good one, Loki! The scoop: 1 pee, no poops. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 7.94 km DURATION: 1:07:29 Today according to Loki: Oh a noise, is that a noise? Perhaps the wind, or is it, Paige!? Oh please be Paige, I need to go, I need to run, I need to explore! Ah, relief, I thought she'd never come! HIIIII PAIGE! Let's go, let's go, weeee! Hurray up, put that rope on, you're coming with me! Run, run, run, oh sniff! Get over here Paige; you must smell this grass, it's divine! Squirrel! Come, come, come! He's getting away. Ah, shade let's sit, I'm pooped. Ohhhh sprinkler, wait, car! Chase car! Bad car "grrrr," I saved you, Paige, that was a bad car, very bad car. Uh oh, I have to poop. Ahhhh much better, Paige can you grab that? It stinks! Ah, a bird must get bird!!!! Come back here you bad bird! Oh wow, I'm exhausted, why won't Paige stop chasing me!? Oh, this place looks familiar, my home! I wonder if dinner will be waiting for me when I get inside? "Hello!!! Mom!! I'm home!!" Hmm no mom, oh well, time for a nap, BYEEEE PAIGE, see you tomorrow! My scoop: 1 pee and 1 poop. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 5.29 km DURATION: 1:04:58 Oh no, poor Loki was feeling a little under the weather today. We started off good; he found a fantastic purple ball that he played and played with until it sadly popped. Not only did the ball deflate but so did Loki's energy along with it. Loki stopped and went to the washroom numerous times as well as throw up; something wasn't sitting well with him. We spent some time just sitting in the shade relaxing before heading back home. I think maybe with the stress of moving or perhaps Loki had gotten into something over the weekend that isn't sitting so well in his tummy. At least he was able to get some fresh air before heading back to his bed for some more rest. Hope you feel better soon, Loki! The scoop: 5 poops, 1 pee. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 7.24 km DURATION: 1:10:00 Loki and I found the best spot ever today; it was fate! A giant fountain in the middle of a little park! Without a doubt in his mind, Loki was going in, and if I wasn't quick enough I was going in too! About 30 minutes prior, Loki and I were well on our way around our loop, thankfully with the overcast, the sun wasn't beating directly down on us. With this being said, it was still smoking hot out there running along the pavement and Loki and I were getting desperate. We kept our eyes peeled for sprinklers or anyone out watering their lawns, but there was nothing in sight. We quickly made it through our loop, then right as soon as we were going to dip into Silver Springs we changed our minds last minute and figured we would keep going and run through the pretty flowers. Low and behold, we arrive at the flowers, and staring right at us was a giant fountain. How did we not see this before!? Like a shot, Loki was in the fountain sitting down and drinking. We got a few stares from cars driving by, but hot dogs gotta do what hot dogs gotta do. I am not going to be the one to tell a big German Shepherd no when it comes to a water dish, of any size! After a few minutes break, Loki was cooled off, and we finished up the last bit of our loop. It was hilarious watching him just sit in a giant fountain with the water pouring down on his head. He was one happy pup! The scoop: 1 pee today, no poops. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 6.60 km DURATION: 1:24:20 Happy Hump Day Loki! Today was not my day; I woke up with a nasty cold and things turned around noon. Please bare with me buddy; I'm going to be a little slow today. Thankfully, the hot temperatures were in my favor. That being said, I knew that it wouldn't take too much to tire this big fella out. We decided to head down along the ridge into Bowmount Park. I took the liberty of making our walk a little longer today, being that I didn't have much gas for a run today, I wanted to ensure Loki got in a good enough exercise! Loki didn't seem to mind our brisk walk; we sniffed lots; Bowmount had many great smells to offer Loki. Along with the spectacular view, our afternoon turned out to be very enjoyable! Again, thanks for being a great way to end the day, Loki! No scoop to report today. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 6.22 km DURATION: 1:07:44 Thankfully, Loki was feeling back to his normal spunky self today. Although he felt fine, the higher temperature made for a bit of a challenge. Loki and his winter parka took a bit of a beating; the hot sun was just a bit much for the young guy. That was fine; I was completely okay with modifying our run to a brisk walk. This way, we were able to stop at sprinklers, puddles, you name it! Anywhere Loki could catch a break we made sure we stopped. Throughout our various breaks, Loki and I hung out, and chit chatted, truly solved all the world's problems. As we made our way back around and into Loki's neighbourhood of Silver Springs, we both felt very content about our stroll today. Arriving at Loki's front step I can say, the world is a much better place after Loki and I completed our run/walk. Another day, another great outing! See you tomorrow, Loki! No scoop to report today. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 1.91 km DURATION: 30:21 Loki, my poor little guy! Today was not your day; We got out for our run and Loki began to limp. Although, we ended up doing a little walk around the block to make sure his doggy business was done. Get some rest tonight buddy. I'll be back tomorrow! The Scoop: 1 Loki-sized pee, and no poops. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 7.72 km DURATION: 1:05:28 Happy Friday, Loki! Look at that, another week come and gone. Man, the time sure flies doesn't it!? The worst part is, when I pull up in front of your house a big orange Sold sign stares me down. I have a feeling our amazing afternoon runs may be coming to an end. However, we must not dwell. Instead, we have to make the most of the time we have left together! Let's quit all this moping and get exploring! We love our Scenic Acres loop; it just needs a little spicing up. We continued on the path where we would normally have turned out of Scenic Acres and instead we dipped into the estates because we noticed that there were a few hidden gems, pathways covered with trees and flowers! How could we go wrong!? Without a moment to spare, we quickly hustled around our loop and dove right into the flowery wilderness. What better place to stop and take a picture, these paths were breathtaking! Thanks for sharing yet another great afternoon with me Loki. As always, we ended our week on a high note! See you Monday!! No scoop to report today. Runner: Paige DISTANCE: 8.12 km DURATION: 1:00:14
Sorry about the lack of photos today, it was a torrential downpour for the entire duration of our run. Therefore, I did not want my phone to get wet. The only shot I was able to get was the aftermath, a very soaked Loki pouting because we were no longer playing in the rain. I also added a fun one of Loki in the sun from Monday, reminiscing on the warmer times! He is such a goof in the rain; he loves it! He was a speed demon racing from puddle to puddle. The selection of water stations was endless! We ran around our usual Scenic Acres loop in record time allowing us to do another kind of loop in Silver Springs. I don't mind running in the rain especially when I have an active guy like Loki to chase after; he makes the time fly by! Today was well worth the soaked clothes, thanks for the run, Loki! The scoop: one long pee, no poops. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 6.15 km DURATION: 1:10:47 Loki had I had more of a brisk walk today. Someone was out running around at the ranch all weekend and was pooped. As per usual, he blew out of his house with all the energy in the world. However, the excitement passed and exhaustion began to settle in. Today was a first; I don't think I have ever seen Loki this tired! We continued on our loop, nice and slow. Loki, stopping to lay in the shade with every chance he got. I loved it; we got to enjoy one another's company, taking numerous breaks with lots of treats, it was a lovely afternoon! We took a little longer than usual, but I am not complaining about a few extra minutes of Loki time. We eventually made it back to his house, where he nearly fell in the front door, to lay down on the cool floor. An extra bonus, Chopper was eagerly waiting for our arrival and welcomed us home in true Chopper fashion. After a few barks, it was Chopper's time for a few cuddles too. I just love these two, so cute! See you Wednesday, Loki! Rest up! The scoop: 1 pee, no poops. Runner: Paige DISTANCE: 7.80 km DURATION: 1:05:38
Hurray! A much better day for a run, the sun is shining Loki! Slower start for us than usual, Loki was a little more intrigued with the surrounding smells. Fine by me, take it all in my friend! We decided to do a route we haven't done in a while, in and around Silver Springs with a little portion of Scenic Acres. Loki was overjoyed with every puddle he came across as a result of the rainy day yesterday. These frequent breaks were Loki's highlight of our run today. Take them all in now that you can, with this heat they won't last for long! An earlier start today meant the heat wasn't at its peak, a nice change from our mid-afternoon runs. Another great way to end the week of DGR runs! See you Monday, Loki! The scoop: 1 pee. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 8.51 km DURATION: 1:03:31 Happy Hump Day Loki! The rain is pouring, let's play! We set our sights on the trail to Varsity and off we went. A few short minutes into our run we had a nice quick hello with Tammy and Sam, Loki being the loud mouth that he is, could not contain his excitement and shouted with joy at Sam when he found out he was a DGR dog too! His social skills are still a work in progress and he tends to yell, but means well, and will one day figure it out that just sniffs and hellos will work too. After the quick high and goodbye, we zoomed off on the remaining chunk of our run. With a little dip into Varsity followed by a lovely jaunt along the ridge of Silver Springs, it made for a great afternoon run. Despite the fact that we both looked as if we had fallen into the river, we had a blast! Oh well, we're not made of sugar right, buddy? See you Friday, Loki! Looks like she'll be a sunny one! No scoop to report today. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 7.91 km DURATION: 59:11 Loki was so excited to see me today, he could barely contain himself! After he calmed down a bit, we headed out for our afternoon run. We are both fitting in a couple extra runs this week so I wasn't too worried about how far or fast we were going to go. Loki wasn't too concerned either as he decided he wanted to play 'Pick-up sticks' along our run. He was constantly searching out a stick to trot along with. The first couple were pretty small. Then he found one that was about as thick as my forearm and he liked that one so much he kept it in his mouth for about 20 min! Then he found a stick that was even more appealing... no wait, that's a deer's leg. Let's leave that one for the coyote, ok Loki? Scoop today: one of each. Runner; Tammy ![]() DISTANCE: 7.25 km DURATION: 1:03:50 Loki, our time has come at last! I always enjoy walking into Loki's house. I get a very warm welcome from his big little brother, Chopper. Although when I see him, I get the urge to wear one of those front packs that parents wear to carry their baby around in, except I would like to stick Chopper in it. That way he would be able to keep up with us and join along on our little run! I could squish him he's so fluffy Needless to say, my cute aggression goes through the roof when I see him! Once my quick moment with Chopper is over, Loki comes bounding out of his crate, and away we go! Today felt like we were running away from an enormous storm cloud, ahead of us were blue sky for days, however, behind us was this very daunting black cloud. I don't know about Loki, but I sure don't like being outside during thunderstorms, so we motored around our loop just in the nick of time but, stopping for a great selfie of course! Good job today, Buddy! The scoop: 1 pee, no poops! Runner: Paige |
