DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6
DISTANCE: 6.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 19 minutes
Today was a difficult day for me in many respects... Thank goodness I got this life break when I escaped reality for an hour or so running these two champions. Kona, has such as difficult time with Social Distancing, because socialization is Kona's strength. Super friendly and interested in every dog or child in sight. Winter is like the wild child of the family with energy we could only dream of. Winter's push forward and full force attitude is so adorable. She is a small dog yet mighty warrior. We will all survive if Winter was leading the pack! Thanks again for the great day guys. Enjoy your rest. The Scoop: 1 poo for Winter and pees for both.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4
DISTANCE:8.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute
What a beautiful day! Nice to see you Kona and Winter. I’m so glad we beat the snow! Today, Kona and I headed off first. We spotted a beautiful old classic car in a gentleman’s garage and took a photo. Haha, (I love old cars!). Kona was really interested in all the people who were out walking. Every time we saw someone on the path up ahead, I planned our social distancing route.. It felt like I was playing a video game; dodging left and right. We explored some streets I had never been down before and then headed home to get Winter. Winter was ready to rock (as usual). She was full of energy and happiness. Dogs are so wonderful...always bringing a smile to our faces. We did a big loop and also explored some new streets. No poops for either dog today. There were just a couple pees for Winter and one pee for Kona. Stay safe and healthy!
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2
DISTANCE: 5.9 km DURATION: 57 minutes
Happy St Paddy's Day! Today is a-little less green, because all the leprechauns are in quarantine. Today was a day of quiet sidewalks and streets.... it is almost feeling eerie. That being said, running with Kona and Winter is always an uplifting feeling. Those two hounds are full of fun and energy. Have a great day guys! See you soon. The Scoop: lots of pees.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4
DISTANCE: 5.6 km DURATION: 59 minutes
Happy Monday! Kona and Winter were the exact therapy I needed! Four-Legged Therapy! Dogs have a way of calming your mind and soul! Today, my run with these two did just that. Meeting other dogs in the neighbourhood was easy today as there were so many people out and about. In a time of almost surreal events, one thing is constant if you are around a dog, you will smile, and today these two did just that for me! Looking forward to tomorrow!️. The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2
DISTANCE: 8.9 km DURATION: 60 minutes
Today was another one of those easy runs where Kona and Winter ran so in sync; it felt like no effort; even if conditions weren’t perfect. I caught Kona snuggling my leg for her picture today. Usually I try to capture her standing but it was too good to pass up today. Little Winter had a spring in her step today. She must like the conditions of her namesake. The Scoop: 1 pee and poop for Winter.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY # 2
DISTANCE: 6 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute
Two days in a row with these ladies? How lucky am I! I have never heard so much excitement come from such a tiny dog as I did coming from Winter as I entered the house. I could barely wrangle her into her harness, she was so stoked! We were off like a shot as soon as her paws hit the ground and there was no stopping her. SO much energy today! We ran past the school just as the kids were getting out for the day so she got plenty of attention. One she did her business, she calmed down quite a bit and we had a nice easy jog home. Kona was equally as excited today. We had a bit of a struggle to find one another’s pace in the beginning, but once we did, we had a lovely run. We saw lots of other dogs and crossed to the other side of the road to let them pass, she was very good about ‘leaving it’. She munched on snow and snuggled my legs whenever I told her she was a good girl. The Scoop: Winter had 1 poop, 1 pee. Kona had 1 pee.

Dashing through the snow with Kona & Winter! I think Winter was waiting for Santa Paws when I came to the door, because she could barely contain her excitement! She even left a few ‘cookies’ out for me on the welcome mat! We sprinted down the street, around the pond, and even saw some kiddos sledding down a hill! She was a very good and attentive girl and looked at me every time I said her name. Kona, the gentle giant, loved to cuddle while we walked. A light run seemed to be the best way to go and we kept pace together quite nicely. Her nose was very busy in the fresh snow as there were so many amazing new things to smell! She saw a Golden Doodle while we were out and was very careful not to pull me over. Such a polite lady! Both girls gave me plenty of kisses and went out to pee in the yard one more time before I left. The Scoop: Winter - 2 pees, 2 poops. Kona - 1 pee.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1
DISTANCE: 7.2 km DURATION: 1 hour
How do you find the best decorations with Kona and Winter? I will start off by saying how much of a difference it makes having no wind as today was way more enjoyable for Kona, Winter, and me. Last week. I said we would save the best decorations until closer to Halloween so today was the day. We found spiders bigger than Kona, a cat that Winter did not like at all and some spooky witches cooking up trouble. We went to the best decorated house in Auburn Bay. The owner used to be an imagineer at a California theme park so day-time pictures don’t even do full justice for it but the cool thing he does is ask for donations to a charity as a thank you for his hard work. This year he chose AARCS which us dog lovers can probably appreciate. I even took Winter over to see the decorations in our tree, including that creepy doll I wish had blown away in the wind yesterday. We had a great run today and both pups seemed to have a great time and were pretty pooped by the end of their turn. The Scoop: 1 pee for Winter.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3
DISTANCE: 7.5 km DURATION: 59 minutes
Today Kona, Winter and I went out looking for the best/spookiest Halloween decorations we could find in Auburn Bay. Now full disclosure we didn’t use a picture from the best one as they were still setting up so we’ll save that for next week. But we found lots of other fun decorations. Both Kona and Winter were so brave staring down the ghouls, dragons and what not that I could barely get a picture of the front of their face. The Scoop - nothing from either of them, makes for an easy run for Scott.
DGR RUN OF THE DAY
DISTANCE: 8.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes
Coffee with Kona and Winter. Now I’m not a real coffee drinker but the two ladies were sure going for that vibe. We had some Kona blend snuggles and Winter was providing more energy than a caffeine boost. We kept the coffee theme going right into the run as did a loop I’m now calling the “double double” where we got pictures of each in two of the same spots. Had a great run with both Kona and Winter, especially enjoying this great weather although Winter was quick to point out what was coming with one of the only snow patches we went by. Only had 1 pee from Winter otherwise nothing.
DISTANCE: 6.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes
Long time no see Kona and Winter. It was so nice to get reacquainted. I was greeted by 2 happy and energetic puppies today. Kona and Winter have house guests so they were outside enjoying the backyard. Kona and I took to the streets first but she wasn’t really into running today; all Kona wanted was snuggles. In between, we did find a new path and got a few doggy jogs in. Next was Winter and boy she was ready to RUN!! Winter and I hit our old route to the pond and back. It’s amazing to see how much fall weather is starting to change the scenery already. The scoop: no poops or pee for either puppy.
DISTANCE: 6.0 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes
Kona was way faster today! We made it down the the alleged trailhead in no time. It turns out it just leads to a little pond. Oh well, we got to look at all the little duckies for a while. We didn't take a very inspired route but I wasn't quite sure how much Kona would be willing to give'r today. I'm glad I did because she laid right down in the grass after 30 minutes or so. We took it easier the rest of the way home. Winter, though small, has a lot of speed in those little legs! We sprinted our first couple of blocks to get all the beans out and had a really lovely walk around the neighbourhood. We seem to have made it home just before the rain came. Thanks for an awesome afternoon! The Scoop: 1 pee.
DISTANCE: 4 km DURATION: 59 minutes
Kona had just as much interest in running today as yesterday! She laid down in the grass before we had even left the cul de sac, & wanted lots of love & pets, and to smell everything! We found what looked like a really nice pathway but by the time we got there, we had to turn around, so next time we will check it out! Our journey back was much faster though, so Kona got to play a little with the neighbours dog Grizz. You gotta love it when you have friendly neighbours! Winter on the other hand had sssooo much enthusiasm, as per usual. We had a quick little sprint down the block and then walked around the park. I let these two have a little more yard time again at the end. They are SO FUNNY playing together. When I left they both looked pretty tired, and happy (I hope!!). The Scoop: 5 pees, 1 poo.
DISTANCE: 5.0 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes
Kona's interest in running today was very minimal, there were ssoooo many distractions! I imagine it was still quite hot for a big black dog too, even though it was a perfect temp for me! Someone left a little accident on the mat at the back door, I cleaned it up as bestI could but left the mat outside. Kona peed and pooped in the yard before and after our run. It was great to see these two again! They had a lot of beans left so I let them played in the yard for a bit before I left.
DISTANCE: 5.74 km DURATION: 1:02:36
Kona saw a clear pathway and was ready to venture out today. Winter was highly motivated with a treat to sit pretty for the perfect picture! Lol. It was such a nice day with these girls. The weather wasn’t too hot or pouring outside, so everyone was out enjoying the day. The Scoop: both dogs had a few pees but neither dog had a poop.
