I woke up today to pouring rain, thunder, and bright lightning - talk about a wake-up call... I crossed my fingers that the stormy weather would leave the four of us alone long enough to get our walk in. The only other brave souls out at the park today were a Black Lab named Luna and a Yellow Lab puppy that we never caught the name of. Kacie was smitten by the Yellow Lab and his squeaky toy; wanting to continue the walk with him and his owner, rather than follow me and her siblings. Towards the end of the walk, it started to lightly rain again but nothing to worry about. If we could describe today’s walk in one word, it would have to be ‘soggy’ - particularly in Kaiser’s case, as he ran through as much tall grass as possible, giving himself repeated showers. We saved some time at the end to ensure we could dry our paws (and bodies). The scoop: 1 poop each and at least 2 pees each!

Another beautiful morning for the books! The four of us made our way to our stomping grounds (the off-leash park), and got pumped up for some ball-fetching, butterfly-chasing, grass-rolling FUN! Our energetic start slowly faded with the hot sun, and our pace began to dwindle. With multiple stops to hydrate and rest in the shade, we took our time today, enjoying the park to ourselves. We thought the grass was long last week but it is growing faster than any grass I’ve ever seen before! Pink was covered entirely today by the tall grass, camouflaging herself multiple times. What a lovely summer walk with this trio. The scoop: 1 poop for Kacie and 1 poop for Pink. Multiple pees for Kacie, Kaiser and Pink.

I could hear barking as I came around Kacie, Kaiser, and Pink’s house this morning, knowing I had been spotted. The crew was eagerly waiting my arrival so that we could head to the park and get up to our usual shenanigans. We ran into our friend Aspen, and met a new pal ‘Briar’ who jumped out of the bushes, startling Kacie and me momentarily. After only 10 minutes of walking, Pink was panting and with the sun beating down, 16 degrees felt more like 24 degrees. Nothing warms us up quite like the summer sun, hey gals and guy? (Or shall I say, gals and Kai?). We spent lots of time in the shade today, enjoying the breeze and swatting away the mosquitoes. The scoop: 2 poops for Kacie, 1 poop for Pink, 0 poops for Kai, and many pees for all!

As I sat stuck in traffic on my way to walk my favourite trio, I was thankful for getting to start my day with a walk outside, accompanied by doggy companions. There is truly no better way to get your brain, and body, going in the morning. As the four of us packed up the car and headed to the park, the traffic persisted, and the panting from the backseat increased with excitement (*cough* Kaiser). We reached the park and it was freedom at last!!! Despite the milder temperature today, we all worked up a sweat, chasing each other and trying new paths through the trees. At the very end of our walk, as we were quenching our thirst, we said hello to puppy pal ‘Marley’ and his walker. The scoop: 1 poop for Kacie, 1 poop for Pinky, and many pees for all three.

This morning could not have gotten any better, I got to hang with these 3 kiddos and we had a super time at the park. Pink loved sitting in her throne next to me in the car, and Kacie got a bit jealous sticking her head out to say hi. Kaiser was crazy for his ball as usual, I thought we might have lost his ball at one point but he has such determination! He always finds it eventually. I got some action shots of Pink running up and down the hills trying to keep up with Kaiser. Go Pink go! Pink also managed to find a singular piece of rabbit poop and preceded to try and roll all over it. Kacie was taking her time; chewing on some grass, watching Kaiser and Pink make fools of themselves. She almost tried to play with a Doodle puppy at one point, but it was a little too fast for her old bones. The Scoop: lots of pees for Kacie & Pink, a handful for Kaiser, 2 poops for Pink and none for the others.

What a beautiful morning ladies and gentleman! There were about four times the amount of people and canine companions at the park as usual today. They were walking around, enjoying the sun before it became unbearably warm. When we first arrived, we saw our friend Aspen panting as he ran along the ridge. The grass has still not been mowed since our last walk; making Pink even more difficult to spot, unless she was bounding through the air. After completing a figure 8 of the park in good time, Kaiser was not ready to say goodbye and took us on one last loop before we headed to the car. We stopped more frequently for water breaks today and were shocked to see how good of distance we made. Nothing but smiles from us four today. The scoop: many pees for all, 1 poop for Pinky, 1 poop for Kacie, and no poops for Kai.

Driving over to get Kaiser, Kacie and Pink, the rain poured down and I expected a wet walk for the four of us. To my surprise, we were gifted with beautiful sunshine throughout the hour! The only rain that hit us was some “sun-showers” (my favorite kind of rain) during our last 5 minutes. The gang was all smiles today, with a quiet park for us to take advantage of. The grass has gotten so long that Kai and I sometimes had a hard time finding his bright orange ball. The tall grass even towered over Pinky, often camouflaging her. Kacie was in her own world today, wandering to sniff out all the beautiful flowers and trees that are blooming. The hour flew by and before we knew it we were back in the car heading home. What a perfect way to end the week! Have a fantastic weekend you three. Many pees for all, 1 poop for Kacie, 1 poop for Pink and 2 poops for Kai.

It was another lovely morning with this group. The sun was shining and the lilacs were blooming. It was a typical walk. Kaiser was going crazy chasing his ball. Pink tried to chase it too and then gave up. Kacie was plodding along, slow and steady; smelling the grass. The park was surprisingly empty for such a nice morning, but we took the opportunity to throw the ball extra far and enjoy the peace. Mostly everyone there was commuting. There were a few moments where I thought we might have really lost Kaiser's ball, but inevitably he finds it and we continued on our way. I think Pink enjoyed the warm sun today, but it might have almost been too warm for Kaiser! He took a lot of breaks to lay down in the shade. The scoop: lots of pees for everyone, Kacie had 1 poop, Pink had 2, and none for Kaiser.

After a few rainy days, we were thrilled to see the sun making an appearance today. Kacie, Kaiser and Pink were all full of life today, bounding around through the tall, freshly-watered grass. Kacie was especially energetic; leading our crew for the first half of the walk and ensuring we maintained a steady pace (today we called her Captain Kacie). Kaiser and I were both in disbelief that the temperature only rose to 8 degrees during our walk, as the two of us were panting after many rounds of chasing the ball. Pink has a tendency to pee wherever and whenever Kacie pees, always keeping a close eye on her sister... even when she has nothing left in the tank. These three keep me laughing and give me so much love, I am very thankful! The scoop: poops and pees all around!!

It was a soggy but fun day today with the gang! Kacie seems a bit apprehensive of me, since it was our first solo walk, as she reluctantly followed me out the door. But when we got the park, and she got some pets, she warmed right up. Unfortunately, Pink seemed to get quite cold near the end of our walk, and as soon as we made sight of the car she made a bee-line straight for it. The rain did not seem to bother anyone else though. There was lots of ball tossing, grass smelling, and fun all around. Kaiser fixated on another dog's ball so we had to stick him on a leash for a bit so the poor dog could get his ball back! What a goof! There weren't many other dog friends at the park today so it was rather quiet and a very peaceful kind of walk. I had a great time with you guys! See you next week. The scoop: 1 poop for Pink & Kacie, 2 for Kaiser, and many pees all around.

Our lovely morning walk today featured a special guest, DGR Runner Gabi, who will be filling in for me a couple of times over the next week or so. Kaiser was pleased to introduce himself right away, as Kacie and Pink followed suit. The weather was warmer than expected and we tried to soak in every last bit of sunshine before the forecast heads in the other direction. Gabi and I chatted about all of Pink, Kacie and Kai’s quirks, habits, and typical behaviours as we made our way around the park. As we continued chatting. we actually realized that the two of us went to Elementary School together... what a small world! We were having such a blast that we nearly forgot to snap a few pictures for today’s walk. A quick roll-around and rest in the green space was enough of a recharge for our crew before we made our way to the car for a drink of water. The scoop: 1 poop for Kai, 2 poops for Kacie, and many pees for all!

It was another beautiful morning for the four of us to be out at the off-leash park today! With the recent rain and snow, the grass has finally turned to a healthy green. We frolicked around for a few minutes before quickly running into our pal Aspen again, whom we met yesterday at the park! What a happy reunion! Pinky was feeling energetic today, doing laps around me and Kacie while Kai chased his ball. Making our way up and down the hills of the park, we began to sweat and felt the burn in our legs. Kaiser took lots of breaks in the shade in between playing fetch and giving me oodles of affection. Let’s just say the four of us were pooped after today’s walk. When we got to the car, we broke out the collapsible water dish and all three pups had a big gulp before we made our way home. The scoop: pees for all, poops for Kacie and Pink.
DISTANCE: 2.32 km DURATION: 1 hour
According to my phone we made it 2.32 kilometres in about an hour but Runkeeper once again decided to pause our route unexpectedly (hence the long, straight line at the bottom of the map). With this little blip out of the way, the rest of our walk was absolutely spectacular. The temperature rose as the sun became brighter, while a light mist sprayed from the grass beneath our feet for a perfect cooling effect. We played for nearly ten minutes with a new pal named Aspen (I think he was a Border Collie), who was quite shy at first. Once Aspen realized we were all friendly, he began to play fetch with his own ball, and he and Kaiser really hit it off! Even Kacie grew with excitement, jogging around, chasing the balls and her new friend; my heart was so full!! We had a fantastic day at the park and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store. Pees and poops all around.

The temperature was much chillier today than previous weeks, thanks to the late April “gift” from Mother Nature this weekend. Kaiser sure loved frolicking in what was left of the snow. I always seem to forget to mention such a critically humorous part of every walk... Kaiser’s deer-like hops. This guy could jump fences, hurdles and cars with jumping skills like that! Not to mention, the elegance that he displays as he bounds through the air. We ran into the other infamous Karl Baker off-leash trio, that we play with on a weekly basis. ‘Larry’ the largest of their pack has created quite a bond with Pinky, ironically the smallest of our pack. Kacie usually pairs off with the calm Black Lab, who’s name escapes me, and the two meander around while the rest of us watch the dog park madness unravel. Thanks for the fantastic little walk around the park today team. You sure helped brighten my spirits and reduce my headache for a short while. The scoop: pees for all, 1 poop for Kacie and Pink, no poop for Kai.
DISTANCE: 2.25 km DURATION: 50+ minutes
Runkeeper was playing tricks on me again today... delaying our start, and beginning our route in the community below the off-leash park. Our actual time was over 50 minutes, and somewhere around 2.25 kilometres if I had to guess. Today was definitely a wacky Wednesday, starting with Kaiser hiding his usual ball from me prior to my arrival. After settling on a red ball from the backyard, we rushed to the park to soak up this sunny morning. I don’t think we have ever seen so many dogs at the park before! Kai even had a bit of competition today, chasing his ball alongside a friendly Bull Terrier. The laughs were endless, and I even ended up taking off my jacket, only sporting a t-shirt, by the end of the walk. Kacie was full of life today, bouncing and showing how much the sun affected her energy levels. Pink was the one who made the final sprint to the car - an actual ‘sprint’... ahh air conditioning feels so nice. Poops and pees for all, I can’t wait for more fun at the park next week with you three.
