DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.5 km DURATION: 51 minutes Happy Wednesday Kaiser and Pink! The excitement was real this morning as I picked you up at your new house for the first time. The drive to the park is a bit longer now, which had Kaiser panting and whining as he eagerly awaited arriving at our destination. The little bit of snow we received must have scared everyone away because the park was much quieter than usual! We saw one other dog from across the ridge at the beginning and ran into another about mid-way through our outing. The only other dog we saw was an adorable Boston Terrier dressed in his coat and booties, walking with his Mom and Dad. Pink didn’t even bark at the little fellow, she just admired his style (some competition for « winter’s best dressed » award hey Pinky?) The Scoop: 1 poop and 7 pees for Pink, 4 pees for Kai. DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.8 km DURATION: 55 minutes Pink was thrilled to not have to wear booties or a coat today at the park. The highlight for Kaiser on today’s walk was finding an already mangled purple ball, which quickly stole his attention. The thought of his favourite orange ball was long gone! We met a new friend today at the park and if we had to guess, we think the young pup was a mix of Husky and Shiba Inu. He was adorable! Despite a little bit of wind, it was a gorgeous day for a walk. The Scoop: 1 poop and 5 pees for Kai, 1 poop and 9+ pees for Pinky. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.3 km DURATION: 45 minutes As the sun worked its magic today, causing the snow to disappear, Kaiser, Pink and I picked up any left behind garbage. Birds were chirping in every direction, providing music for our walk. It was a peaceful and calm outing, but what more could you ask for! I forgot to start the timer at the beginning of our walk so when we hit 40 minutes we made our way back in the direction of the car. Kaiser was panting the whole way there! As soon as we got home, Pink made her way into her bed for a nap. A tiring day all around! The Scoop: 2 poops and many pees for Pinky, 1 poop and 5 pees for Kai. Runner: Jaime Cuddles, Adventures and Lovely Reminders of Kacie Complete this Week with Kaiser and Pink!2/16/2020 The past week and a bit was full of fun, cuddles and adventures with Kaiser and Pink. We went on daily walks around the neighbourhood and the park, enjoying the ever-changing weather. We even ventured to a new off-leash park, as per a recommendation by a friend of mine and boy, were we glad that we did! By the end of the week, we had a pretty solid routine down and pretty much had scheduled playtimes. A lot of our time together was spent playing fetch; with Kaiser and I going back and forth with his ball followed by Pink and I going back and forth with ‘Uni’ (Kacie’s favourite toy which Pink has now claimed as her own). I love getting to know the personalities of these two more and more as time goes on. Pinky’s spunky nature allows her to keep up with her big brother, while her sweet and cuddly side likes to curl up onto my chest to watch TV. Kai’s lively demeanour never quits; always wanting to play and show his affection. We practiced our good behaviour and « tricks » with the help of a few treats (and not to toot our own horn but we are getting pretty good at some of these moves). I had so much fun with these two this week and can’t believe how quickly time flew by. Throughout the week around the off-leash park and the neighbourhood, we were asked about Kacie by multiple people. We really missed her this week but loved having little reminders and memories of her to cherish.
Pet Sitter: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY # 1 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Good Afternoon Chickadees. It is a warm day at +2C so let's go for a drive first. I have a little surprise for you both. As per usual, Pink jumped in the co-pilot seat. Kaiser thought the back section was more comfy with the dog bed and room to play with his ball. Voila kids, we are now at out destination. Edworthy Park. We have arrived. Pink announced her arrival. I don't think Kaiser realized that this was the dog park. ’Throw my ball, Michelle‼️’. On the hot topic of Kaiser and his ball, we only had one search & rescue mission for it today. The mission was a success. Miss Pink caught the eye an older doggy gentleman. This senior pooch's owner also took a shine to Pink and wanted to take her home. The senior pup was an 11-year-old Terrier Chihuahua X. We had a fantastic time together and Pink tried to get me to leave at around the 45-minute mark but Kaiser still had more ’ball time’ in him. At the 55 minute mark, Pink stopped and gave Kaiser a look. ’Enough we are going home’ and headed straight to the Jeep. Gotta love a gal who knows what she wants.🤣The Doggy Business Report: each pup had one poop and both had multiple pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 2.4 km DURATION: 49 minutes This morning’s walk was a reflective and mindful one to say the least. Kaiser, Pink and I made our way to the off-leash park, focusing on what we are thankful for. For Kai, this was his big, orange ball and for Pinky this was her sweater keeping her warm. Kaiser played his heart out today at the park, where no other dogs were to be seen. Pink spent most of her time chasing her brother and giving me a few cuddles. From the beginning to the end of our walk, we felt Kacie’s presence right there with us. We remembered the way Pink barked at her as she jumped out of the car and her immediate need to find a spot to do her business upon arrival at the park. We cherished her intelligent brain; always knowing where I had treats hidden and the huge smile she would flash in hopes of receiving one. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life, even for a short time. Thank you for a great walk this morning Kai and Pink and for reminding me to give love to everyone around me, every day. The Scoop: 2 poops and 7 pees for Pink and 1 poop and 3 pees for Kaiser. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE 1.5 km DURATION: 35 minutes I am back Chicklets🐾‼️Mom has you all ready and looking very ’Chic Canadian.’ Pink my co-pilot, the seat warmers are on. First, before we move - Miss Kacie & I need to have a long hug. This sweet soul just makes me melt. Kai, I love your jacket. Plus, your orange ball is packed (in his mouth🤣). To the park, we headed. It was fresh & crisp that was for sure. We gals partied very civilized. Then, there was Kaiser’s idea of partying!! He would run up and down the hill chasing his ball. Halfway through is when things started to get wild. He came back up the hill with his jacket unbuttoned. No problem let's put you back together. When Kai came up the hill, his jacket was almost off; lying around his butt. It was time to leave the Party🤣. Always a fun time with these 3. Lots of pees for everyone. Kai had 1 poop and Kacie had 1 poop. Pink just peed several times🐾. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.2 km DURATION: 52 minutes Happy New Year's Kacie, Kaiser and Pink! I have sure missed you three and I knew the feeling was mutual upon our exciting reunion this morning. Even Pink got out of her comfy, new bed to come say «hello ». As we make our way into the heart of the Winter season, the windchill continues to keep the off-leash park quiet. However, we did run into a gentleman and what appeared to be a Portuguese Water Dog. Pink and this fluffy giant had a great time playing tag, with Pinky doing most of the chasing. I giggled and commented on her ferociousness being no match for a dog of any size. The man replied ‘it is definitely the booties’ to which I laughed even harder. Kai and I nearly lost another ball today, but thanks to Kacie and her curiosity, she led Kaiser right to where it was hidden beneath fresh snow! I have sure missed these morning walks with these three. The Scoop: 1 poop and 4 pees for Kacie, 1 poop and 7+ pees for Pink, 2 poops and 5 pees for Kai. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY # 1 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.3 km DURATION: 52 minutes What a busy outing today for me, Kacie, Kaiser and Pink! Thankfully, the weather seems to have warmed up a bit since yesterday. I was very glad for the warmer temperatures considering one of my fingers decided to poke a hole in my glove at the start of our walk. We ran into a familiar and friendly dog owner around the park. As we approached, I soon realized something was wrong as four of his dogs seemed to be searching around and their owner was calling out for one of them to return. Once we knew his beloved Beagle « Nigel » was missing in action, we joined the search and began to examine the park. With extra eyes and ears helping out, we quickly located Nigel. Kacie and Pink were thanked for their efforts with a liver treat, while Kai politely declined. As we made our way back up to the ridge, we were passed by a young man who giggled and complimented Pinky on her outfit. I am not sure if it was because of how cute she looked or because the man had a matching red jacket on... All-in-all, it was a fantastic day with the three amigos! The Scoop: 2 poops for Pink, 2 poops for Kacie, 0 poops for Kai, and many pees for all three. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY # 2 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.8 km DURATION: 59 minutes Happy Halloween Kacie, Kai and Pinky! I always wondered what dogs think of Halloween; a bunch of people in costumes, doorbells ringing nonstop, even some are dressed up by their owners. This morning’s walk sure felt warmer than a normal October 31st in Calgary. The four of us meandered around the park, enjoying the beautiful sun as it continued to rise. We wandered for a while before finding ourselves back on a proper trail. There were mostly only large dogs at the park today, one ran up to Kaiser hoping to get a game of chase started. Kai ignored the dog (as he often does when there is a ball in his mouth), however, Pink was eager to take Kaiser’s place and ran around with the large dog instead. We had a blast today and I am so grateful for these three for getting me moving in the morning. The scoop: 1 poop, 4 pees for Kacie, 1 poop, 8 pees for Pink, & 5 pees for Kai. Runner: Jaime I had the pleasure of hanging out with Kacie, Kaiser and Pink this week and it was a blast! These three have their own distinct personalities and it's so fun playing with them, and seeing how they interact with each other. Kaiser seems to have gotten more snuggly since the last time I stayed over, and it was nice to cuddle up with him while watching TV. Every now and again he'd surprise me with a big juicy kiss on the chin. He had a blast playing ball, and likes to crunch around in the piles of leaves, just like a little kid! Kacie, the house protector, is always close by and has the most fantastic purr when being pet! She loves her veggie desserts after mealtimes, and may have been able to score an extra one here and there. She also loves to sleep, and needs a bit of encouragement to get her butt out of bed in the mornings. Finally, we have Pink. Pink is small but mighty, and more than holds her own with her much larger siblings. This little one is most content when cuddled up on my lap, or nearly perched on my shoulders. She also loves to rip around after the ball (or perhaps she's just chasing Kaiser?!) and it is a riot to watch as she follows along after Kacie. It was great to have the chance to spend some time with these three again!
Pet Sitter: Christine Happy Election Day Chicklets. When I first arrived at Kacie, Pink and Kaiser’s home, I do not believe they were interested in that fact. When we went for our morning walk the election signs did prove more interesting. Some even got a watering.🤣 Do not worry I won't tell who you favoured. These 3 are so photogenic, I was always taking my phone out to snap a quick pick. The afternoon had some couch snuggles where Pink curled up in between my bent knees. Miss Kacie slept beside my head. Poor Kaiser had the very end of the couch. It was such a great day outside, it was a MUST to hit Nosehill. Kaiser got the the pet bed in the back of the jeep. Lots more room back there for you, hey Kaiser? Kacie had the whole middle section. Keeping an eye on everything. Miss Pink, well......she had to be co-pilot. These 3 are so much fun to be around. Thanks for spending Election Day with me. I left them all tucked in bed, ready for Christine's arrival.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Hi Kids!! Ready for school? Today's first class is PE. Kaiser gave me an exuberant welcome and agreed with this idea 100%. Pink came and said,” Hi Michelle, you have to put on my gym clothes ”. Also, Miss Pink was wanting belly belly rubs before any activity was to happen. The gentle Kacie told Kai when he was hogging all the walker's attention 🤣. It just cracks me up when Kacie does this. Oh, that little brother. Okay class, time to get the blood moving and breath in lots of warm ’ish’ weather. Kai did decide to have a little rest halfway through. Great job everyone. Tomorrow is an adventure to Nosehill. All the kids had lots of pees. Just 1 poop today (not 2) and that was by Miss Pink. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 2.1 km DURATION: 55 minutes Lions and tigers and COYOTES, oh my! Let’s just say, I was not expecting today’s walk with Kacie, Kaiser and Pink to go the way it did. All three pups spent an awful lot of time sniffing around and « dilly-dallying », compared to usual (even Kai with a ball in his mouth). Only 10 minutes into our escapade at the park, I saw what I thought to be a Husky-mixed dog hopping through the grass. On second glance, I realized it was in fact a coyote... and a rather big one! I quickly leashed up Pink and changed plans for today’s route. We stuck to the ridge, away from the dense trees, making sure to communicate our findings with other dog owners as we passed. We ran into ‘Foxy’ and her mama, a couple of familiar faces that we have the joy of seeing every so often. After looping back and making one small descent into an open field for Kaiser to get a few extra ball tosses in, we made our way to the car; wiping off our muddy paws. At this rate, the snow will be gone by this time tomorrow! Thankfully, we never ran into the coyote again and fingers crossed he/she finds a less active place to hangout. The Scoop: 1 poop & 6 pees for Kacie, 1 poop & 8 pees for Pink, and about 6 pees for Kaiser. Runner: Jaime I have been looking forward to my Staycation with Kacie, Kaiser and Pink for quite some time now! After arriving in the morning and getting settled in, I took my three furry friends to our favourite hangout; the off-leash park. The first day was spent playing, fetching, chasing and chewing on toys, just the way it should be. Kaiser was anxious at first of leaving my side, thinking I would leave him at any moment as our time spent together is normally only on walks and briefly at home. After a few hours and realization that I was not going anywhere soon, Kai was relieved and able to calm down, enjoying cuddles on the couch. In the evening, after some more play-time (even Kacie joined in, chasing after her stuffy) I figured I would have a chance to get in a quick workout while the pups rested... Silly me! In between exercises, I would pass the ball around with Kai and roll the Kong toy for Pink, getting in some extra cardio. Pinky never ceases to make me smile, especially when she runs around with heavy chew toys in her mouth that are probably half her weight! Although he tried and tried, Kacie would not allow Kai to comfortably sleep on the bed with her, Pink and me (I don't blame her, it was already pretty snug). Instead he slept right beside the bed on his doggy bed, making sure I dangled my arm off the side so that he could touch me and cover me with slobber periodically. I had such a blast with you three and time sure flew by! I can't wait to see you guys next week, thanks for making my stay so much fun.
