DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Monday Mood! Jasper saw me in the backyard before he was harnessed up, so getting out of the gate was a little more trying than it has been… but, it’s Monday so whatever! Hitting high gear up and down the first few blocks, we came across a rabbit that Jasper watched, but didn’t break stride over. He had a big drink at the river, and some stops to roll in the tall grass, Jasper enjoyed being out today! I took a few more intersections to work on crossing patiently, which was awesome as he did so great all run! The Scoop: 1 poop, and a handful of pees. Runner: Brad

DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Perfect conditions! With it being overcast and kinda gross outside, I knew Jasper was gonna be loving the conditions so I added a little more pre-workout to my shaker cup! Leaving the yard, I noticed a huge improvement from him regarding how much he pulled. There was only one time actually going through the gate that the leash got tight. Our run was awesome! I did my best to stay with him on all the sprints, I wore him down early, but his drink at the river replenished his energy and he was actually racing me up the 19 Street hill! We worked on our secret handshake at the river today too! All in all, a great run! The Scoop: a bunch of pees and 1 poop. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Greatness! I was full on pre -workout when I got to Jasper's today. He was excited to see me and we wasted no time getting to it! We had a full-out sprint for the first 3 minutes. I did my best to give him a good start. Jasper found the LAST pile of snow and took full advantage of it! After that, we were on the same page taking familiar routes and eventually making our way to the river for a big drink! Passing lots of other dogs in tight spaces, Jasper was well behaved and didn’t pay any attention to them. It was a beautiful day, and the run was one of our better ones overall. The Scoop: 1 poop and a handful of pees. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Close to home. With a steady wind blowing south, I decided I didn’t want to go against it… uphill… so we stayed close to home today. Jasper and I used the pedestrian overpass to cross Shaganappi Drive. He was great both times. He just wanted to go faster the first time as we had just gotten started. Lots of turns kept him guessing and it helped slow him down as he realized we weren’t going towards any water. There was a strong and steady pace into and with the wind. We went up and down both sides of residential streets, Jasper and I were two of few other people and/or dogs out today. The Scoop: 1 poop and a bunch of pees. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 11K DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Let’s go! Jasper had a tough time controlling his excitement to get going today. It was hard to keep him quiet while leaving the yard. He couldn’t help but tell me he wanted to run! We sprinted our way up and down multiple blocks in the neighbourhood before shifting to a slower gear. He was up for the challenge to get those steps in, and didn’t complain once! We eventually made our way to the river where he got a good drink and a chance to roll on the ice. Heading home, he stayed beside me and was very well behaved when we passed a rabbit that was 15’ away from us… and then a brave squirrel that ran toward us shortly after to get to a tree. No reaction from Jasper, but he definitely saw them! The Scoop: 0 poops, lots of pees!. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes High gear! Rossi didn’t let off the gas pedal today. We hit the road and didn’t think about slowing down! With the increased and consistent pace, we were able to lap the park and get some extra steps, sniffs, and pees in. The route was the same, and thankfully, the weather calmed as the hour went by. We only played tag with 1 pair of people we passed that Rossi decided to stop and let them pass us shortly after. We took a detour to get around them. Good times were had, Rossi earned a nap today… as did I! The Scoop: 1 poop and a few extra pees. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes The best! Today was the best day I’ve ever had with Jasper! He is slowly yet very surely improving on everything from pulling at the start, to reacting to other dogs or animals, and crossing busy intersections! We crossed Crowchild Trail twice with no issues at all. He calmly looked at a squirrel teasing him 8 feet away from us without lunging, and only barked at me when he told me he wanted to turn around and go home instead of taking the long way! I’m really proud of his progress, you can absolutely tell that his mom has been working with him! Today's run came with belly rubs, treats, and a tired dog! We were able to get our sprints in at the beginning and down the last couple blocks to get home. Today was so great! The Scoop: a bunch of pees, no poops. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Back to business! Jasper and I got back to it today, and we started where we left off… slow, controlled, and quiet! We waited until we got to the sidewalk to start running, and he was very well behaved at intersections and when passing other dogs! We slowed down coming home and took a couple breaks to roll in the snow. All in all, a great run! The Scoop: all the pees and 1 poop. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 11.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes What a great run! Jasper showed some maturity today with a shorter burst of barks on the initial sprint. He also didn’t pull as much today, but we still crushed the run! There were two opportunities at the river to drink but he wasn’t interested. Also, he did great while passing bikes and other dogs. We made the decision to walk behind a man and his Bulldog down the overpass as we passed them earlier and both dogs said “hi”. The Scoop: 4 pees, 1 poop! Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Who’s that doggy in the window?! Jasper was watching out for me from the front window today. He was all harnessed up. He met me in the backyard and away we went. He had great manners when a puppy came running up to us along a path, Jasper played with it for a few seconds while the owner caught up and called his dog off. Great day, great run, great company! The Scoop: 3 pees and 1 poop! Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Going strong! Our typical sprint out of the yard got redirected as we saw a dog coming our way. We did a quick turn-around which led to another turn-around as we came across another dog coming towards us. Long story short, we took a few detours today, Despite the detours, we still got lots of energy out, got a drink at the river, and got some steps in! It was a gorgeous fall day, with no issues with bikes or people, but lots of energy at the beginning, What’s new? Haha! It was another great run with Jasper! The Scoop: 5 pees, no poop. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10K DURATION: 1 hour 8 minutes Made up for lost time! With the long weekend last week, I didn’t see Jasper. I think he was a bit in shock to see me walk in the back gate today! As soon as the gate was closed, we were off to the races! We sprinted to the top of the hill, I put on the brakes going down the hill (kept it to a controlled walk, but let him pull to burn some energy), then rounded the corner at the bottom and took off again until we got to the river for a drink. Jasper was well behaved on single lane pathways staying right and not pulling towards any bikes, people, or animals. Coming home through residential areas, we did pass a pack of 5 or 6 being walked by a couple that included a HUGE Great Dane… I warned the couple of Jasper's reactiveness and let them know we were going wide left. The man had his pack stop and sit, including the GD (did I mention he was HUGE?), but as we passed Jasper and he locked eyes and said HELLO. The man did a great job of controlling his pack, and I kept Jasper running past. The last couple blocks we walked, and Jasper found nice spot in the shade to catch his breath and cash in on some belly rubs. It was beautiful outside, and we got another great run in today! The Scoop: 4 pees, 0 poops. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Perfect setup! The conditions couldn’t have been better. No smoke, no sun, no heat… calm, cool, and overcast conditions had Jasper ready to run! I think today could be a personal best for us as far as distance goes. Even though Jasper stopped and waited patiently at intersections and for photos, when it was time to go… we went! It was our typical route and we stopped at the river for a couple minutes to grab some drinks. We came across a couple different breeds including a Mastiff that Jasper didn’t even acknowledge. His behaviour is definitely improving around other dogs, I haven’t had an issue with it for our last 4 runs! The Scoop: 5 pees or so, 0 poops! Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Let’s go! Jasper took me for a run today. Wow! I hardly had time to take any photos, but took advantage of our breaks; especially the last one. We made it past multiple other dogs that were on leash with no issues at all. We stopped for a couple cool-down breaks in the river, and at the 48 minute mark, he found a patch of grass and just flopped onto his side. Needless to say, I was okay with this idea! It was a beautiful day, and we made the best of it! The Scoop: 2 pees, 0 poops, and lots of steps! Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute It was a wonderful run today with Jasper. Given what the forecast had said for today, I felt we were pretty lucky. There was not a drop of rain and the temperature was beautiful. The run with Jasper was flawless I struggled a little; especially after my string on my shorts broke and my shorts kept falling down. It made for some fun! All in all, it was a beautiful run and very smooth. I love that when we stop at a light, Jasper sits between my legs. Pretty cute. He is a wonderful dog. Crazy smart! The Scoop: 6 pees! Runner: Mark |
