Part 2 - The time went too fast, Sir Huck's sleepover is finished and we already miss him. He is such a good boy😊🐾. We called him 'my shadow' because wherever I was and if I moved he would be right there beside me. We had a run to the off-leash and a race back home. Huck was the winner. Goodbye Huck it was great to have you as a guest. 😘Doggy Business Report : 2 poops and as per usual lots of pees. Dog Sitter: Michelle DISTANCE: 7.93 km DURATION: 1:16:13
Well, I promised Coach Huck that I would not get all sappy when I wrote our farewell blog for our last Thursday Run together😢 I will say my keyboard is wet and leave it at that!! He was excited today to see me, even one of his human family members commented on it. That for sure will be the biggest thing I will miss but will always remember about Huck. Today's run of course was to.....Nosehill, where there was freedom time (translation off-leash) and a swim. The heat hit us pretty hard and I must admit I was in no rush to finish our outing. So we had a few water bowl breaks, for which a great neighbour along the way gave us filtered water. Two thumbs up! I was just looking at the garden hose💧💧And we finished with a speedy walk as our cool down. Huck it has been a pleasure! We had a good run you & I. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop and lots of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 8:56 km DURATION: 1:09 Oh I just ❤️Huck; plus he is one smart dog‼️ Huck can tell what day of the week it is, I received the indoor photos courtesy of Huck's mom. She said he knows it's Thursday and it's his run day - look at him in the window. So we did a very fast leash up and we were off to the hill. Lately, we have had lots of extremes. Last week we has rain, thunder & lightening and today we had full on sun. 🌞 All is great as long as you are together having a run🐾. We did puff puff hill at Nosehill so that we could have the fantastic down hill in Edgemont. I have labeled this route 'Huck's Hill' because he always comes back to encourage me up it. Today we had 3 stops for water in the bowl - it was a hot one. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop and + 9 pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 5.85 km DURATION: 45:50 Hang on Huck I am coming for you but we need to wait out the monsoon rains. ☔️☔️. Huck is not a fan of thunder & lightening. Poor guy was shaking. We ventured out when it was just raining hoping we had hit a break in the electrical activity. We went to our close by off - leash area and Huck was able to do his business and I stood under a tree to have less rain - he came ripping back to me and leaned right into me shaking. He went back on leash and he seemed to feel much better that we where close and connected. But at around the 4.5 kms mark he was ready to get home. You are a great trooper - and I love running with you rain or shine🌞. The Doggy Business = 1 poop and 3 pees Runner: Michllle ![]() DISTANCE: 9.00 km DURATION: 1:15:01 "Hi Huck 😊" to which I am then greeted with a big jump and so much happy energy. Yep, it's Thursday and time for a run. Woof woof, wag wag and just one more jump up to let me know he is super happy that I came. It is like drinking a super charged espresso - you just want to run. Today we decide to venture further East into Nosehill. Since I don't have many more runs with Coach Huck - I decided to try and spoil him a bit more than usual on our outings. So today was all about the freedom of being off-leash. More smells, more pees, more jumps life is all good being off-leash. Then the cherry on top was a pit stop for a swim. Huck had a pretty satisfied look when he got home. I think he may have a nap😊The Doggy Business = 1 poop and many many pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 8.10 km DURATION: 1:04:11 So have you ever been tempted, like really tempted!! Today's run with Coach Huck had a mix of a few different routes we have done before. It was a good idea just what I did not think through was the continual incline on the last 2 kms. So at this pivotal point we are at the bus trap between Ranchlands and Dalhousie and this great lady bus driver (Bus 37) stopped to let us cross but we decided it was okay to just take a break. Then with a big smile on her face, the bus driver opened the door and asked if we wanted a lift. Oh I was soooo tempted and Huck looked at me with a wink😉. Thanks, we keep moving up hill. The Doggy Business Report : 1 soft poop and oodles of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 7.82 km DURATION: 1:08:05 Shhhhh.........baby sleeping......it was Huck.😛 Ha Ha, I bet you thought I meant the actual little baby girl. Today was the first time ever, in the 8 months of running Huck, I was able to get right up to the door before he started to bark. I could see him sleeping in the window. So, surprise Huck you have another run booked for today😊. Our run theme was TGIF and we were happy to be out and headed over to Nosehill. We had another first on our run, Huck found a pretty beat up tennis ball. I have been told about Huck's obsession with balls, so I was wondering if this was coming home with us? Nope, it stayed in the park for a fellow doggy. We just had to have a photo beside these gigantic poppies - wow plus a full size caterpillar made its home in one of the poppies. Huck thought this interesting too. Doggy Business Report = 1 poop and several pees Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 8.23 km DURATION: 59:56 Hi Huck! Rumor has it you have been hoping for a few days now that it was your Thursday run day😉. Well buddy let's gets running and burn some of that energy. We had a 'fun'tastic run today. I think the best part for Huck was the first 2 k's of off-leash time to really release some steam. It was a bit muggy today so after Huck's off-leash time he needed to steady out his running no more going a million miles at once. He drank from his water bottle really well. The remainder of our run was so nice and steady and Huck is brilliant when running on leash. When we got back to his house and he had lunch (in a nano second) he just sauntered back onto his bed. Huck's before running disposition compared to his after a run disposition tells the whole story why running works for Huck🐾😊❗️The Doggy Business Report = 1 poop and lots of pees. I wish everyone could experience Huck's energetic greetings - they make you instantly happy. Today was no different, and once we started off on our run I felt the need to explained to Huck that this was my 6th run in 3 days and I had a proposal for him about the remainder of our outing. We won't run fast but I promise you a further distance than usual and more off-leash time. Do we have a deal😅?? A deal was made and Coach Huck showed me his understanding side. And as usual I was the one doing all the talking/negotiating🙃. There were 3 separate off-leash times and Huck showed me his "freedom dance moves" each time but he always came back and ran beside me to keep me going. He is the best coach, he knows when to push and when to encourage. The Doggy Business Report = 1 poop & oodles of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 7.53 km DURATION: 1:00:55 Let me introduce you to the many sides and personalities of Sir Huck🐾. There is Mr. Independent at the off-leash areas. Of course we have Hugs by Huck, when off leash and you call him and have your arm out wide he runs back and jumps up and gives you a big hug. Be ready to catch him!! Then there is the puppy side, where he just loves being outside and so many directions to be all at once. Mr Pee Pee is another of Huck's character traits, all bushes, tall grass and sometime just in mid air he has a pee. Mr. Smooth Talker is when he looks up after being on leash for awhile and says "please I've been such a good boy." And we get to experience all sides of Huck's big beautiful personality each run. The Doggy Business Report = many pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 8.01 km DURATION: 1:08:08 Hello Handsome Huck - who was sporting a cool orange bandana today. I think I will start to call him Mr. Hip. Got a bit warm on today's run, even with the lovely breeze. We did a mixed route run today. We did all our inclines at the beginning so coming home was all downhill. Huck was getting pretty warm so we slowed it down just a bit as to not overheat, he was sweating around the mouth. And when we got home I forgot to finish Runkeeper so our time also included some chit chat time as Huck ate. Distance didn't change - we stayed in one spot😃Poor Huck has sore ear tips so I see why now he was trying to rub his ears on my leg. Mr. Motion - stillness is the lotion you need. That's a tough one for for Huck. Doggy Business Report = lots of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 8.05 km DURATION: 59:08 It was great to see Huck today since it had been a couple of weeks. He was also very excited to see me and go for a run. He jumped up and gave me a big kiss😘 right out of the gate. No false starts today, but I did keep thinking it was Thursday (our usual run day). So when we met fellow DGR dog Quinn and her human Mom Cindy I was a day behind in our conversation. We were almost home when we met each other. Huck and Quinn seem to be just fine with each other, but of course they would, the Gentle Miss Quinn and Mr. Personality Huck. Our run was themed Mr. Personality the whole way, it first started with a complete stranger waving at us and greeting us with a big smile saying lovely dog. Then we hit the school yard as it was getting out and all hand where on Huck. We finished up with another lady smiling and saying "Aaw" about Huck. He's a celebrity in Dalhousie & Edgemont. I was just glad to be able to tag along😃 The Doggy Business Report = lots o pees. Runner: Michelle DISTANCE: 6.83 km DURATION: 53:42

Thursday running with Huck is like hanging out with your best mate; it is just "easy and care-free" being together. Now don't get me wrong here about the easy bit, Huck loves to run and wants a challenge! Which he handles with 4 paws up always. He loves up hills, trail running, trees and bushes with new smells and let's get that heart rate up!! His presence and spending time together for that special exercise adventure has become a real treat and something I look forward to. And by Huck's energetic welcome each time I know he feels the same. Today Beamish joined us for " Increase Your Heart Rate & Keep Moving Extravaganza" and he definitely would not use the word "easy" 😉 Beamish always checks out what Huck sniffs and smells just a few steps behind. The Doggy Business Report - lots of pees for Huck. Runner: Michelle |
