Freckles surprised me when she ran around the corner to greet me. I forgot Archie was at daycare and that Freckles had free rein of the house. She seemed extra happy because of this and licked my face to say hello. Again, it appeared that this end of town had more snow than the rest, so we headed to the path around the pond to avoid constantly having to jump over snowbanks. We passed a high strung dog and I anticipated a reaction from Freckles and had her sit next to me and focus on me instead of the dog, which seemed to work well. My feet were still hurting me from the previous day, so we kept the jogging to a minimum and instead did a power walk. Freckles didn’t seem to mind this. Once she gets that initial burst of energy out, she seems to settle down into a nice pace. Looks like I’ll be seeing this girl again tomorrow along with her brother! Can’t wait! The scoop: a million pees, 1 giant poop.

I couldn’t wait to meet Archie! I remember seeing his pictures on the DGR blog when he was just a puppy. He sure isn’t a puppy any longer! More like a pony! He is still very friendly and playful like a puppy though. I was given a couple warnings ahead of time, but didn’t have an issue getting his nifty collar and leash on. He was just excited to get outside, and gave my plenty of wet kisses! He was full of energy and we set a good pace. I never really felt his strong pull; even when other dogs barked at us from their backyard. He just stood and stared at them until I gave him a light tug to follow me. The path around the pond had been shovelled so we did a couple loops around that. We finished off with a big sweet potato treat! Great to meet you Archie. See you soon! The scoop: 4 pees, no poo.

It’s been a long time since I last saw this sweet girl! I don’t know if she remembered me, but after all the anticipation hearing Archie get out, she cooperated really well getting her boots on so she could get out ASAP! Just as I was told, she started out with guns blazing; full speed ahead. But after the first km, she started to slow up and enjoy the sights and smells. Again, I headed toward the pond so we weren’t constantly jumping over piles of snow. This area of town definitely seemed to have more snow than the other areas I have been lately. As we neared home, Freckles kept stopping and delaying - I guess she wanted to spend more time outside! It looks like we will have more time together tomorrow! Hopefully, the weather will improve as well! I made sure Freckles got a sweet potato treat before putting her back upstairs. See you tomorrow! The scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo.

Why hello again Miss Freckles! I'm happy to see you too! And I'm happy to report that it is a bit warmer today. So let's aim for a bit of a longer run today. She was totally game for that! And every time she stopped to sniff I would warm up her ears for her. They were pretty chilly so I knew we wouldn't go the full hour yet today. But when I turned for home at the main street, she stopped and looked at me pleadingly. She wanted to go longer! I looked at the time and felt her ears, and said, "Not today, sweetie." It was still -20 at that time. And I don't know if that's why she relented, but she did. Back home, she smiled at me coyly right beside her snack jar. How can I resist that face? I can't! At least not when it comes to giving her some well-earned treats. Enjoy the rest of the week Freckles! Scoop: one poop and many pees.

Running outside in winter is not crazy! Contrary to external appearances, today's run with Archie and Freckles only needed a few modifications to keep us all safe. We split time between the two dogs to make sure no one was outside for too long. Between the three of us, we were likely wearing about $800 worth of technical gear to keep us securely tethered, firmly gripping pavement and ice, and reasonably warm. "Tish tosh," we said aloud. We're Canadian, put on a toque and booties! We kept an eye on each other to be sure no one was limping with a funny, "too cold" stride. That includes Archie's suspicious glances because I was wearing ski goggles - "who is that crazy thing," he seemed to suggest. And we kept reasonably close to home in case anyone needed to make a quick dash back. Lastly, we all finished off our time with a few extra calories to get our blood sugar back up. Archie and Freckles from the doggie treat jar. Me from the human treat jar left to warm my heart. Thank you! The scoop: Archie - 3 pees and Freckles - 6 pees, 1 poop.

Hello Miss Freckles! She was barking her hello from the upstairs window. And then much to both of our dismay the front door wasn't opening. No worries, through the garage, and we were reunited. A quick sniff of my leg told me she totally remembered me and we spent a moment snuggling before donning our winter wear. Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you? It's realllly realllly cold outside. Well this sweetheart stood perfectly still for me to put her booties on her and then once outside, she tried to outrun the cold. After she pooped and I bent down to pick up her business, I could hear that she was breathing a little heavier than normal. So not that I was looking for an excuse to shorten the run but.... well actually I totally didn't mind shortening the run, except that it meant less time with Frecks. We made up for it by playing inside for a bit. I went through her basket of toys, but none really interested her. Maybe these were Archie's toys. So then she impressed me with all the commands that she knows! She definitely earned her post-run snacks today! See you Wednesday Sweetie! Scoop: two poops and several pees.

Good morning Miss Freckles. I am so happy to see you. I think she was thrilled to see me too as she knew it was running time. We got ready quickly and out we went. Just like the past few days, we stayed on safe dry paths around the neighbourhood. We ventured on to some side streets a bit just to change the scenery but we decided to come back on the main sidewalks. I'm afraid that ice is here to stay a bit longer. Winter, go away!! 😃 We stopped few times to take some selfies; well Freckles' selfies. She approved of all the ones we took to be posted on the blog. We had a fun run. The weather was awesome again today. Freckles got her paws dried once back home and enjoyed some treats for a well done run. 👍 Freckle had 1 poop and 3 pees.

Happy Wednesday kiddos! Today was my first 30/30 with the kids. So Archie got a longer run and Freckles got a shorter one! All went super well, although I had to trick Archie to come to me a bit with a treat. He knows about his halter and I am not sure he is fan of it. But since he is such good boy, no pressure was applied at any given moment. If anything, he had some nice rubs and treats along the way 😃🐾. Freckles had an awesome day as well.. She is well mannered. I just have to say “hey”, and she goes by my heel. We stayed on the road mainly. It looks like that ice is here to stay. There was not as much sunshine as yesterday but the weather was awesome regardless. See you tomorrow Freckles!! Poop Scoop: Archie had few pees. Freckle had 1 poop and 3 pees.

Hi Miss Freckles! So nice to see you today. I was a tiny bit late in my schedule but you didn’t seem to be mad at me. Thank you Freckles 🙏🏻. For that, I gave her a treat before even going out; just to make sure she wasn’t upset with me 😃. Since no Archie today, Freckles got the running hour all for herself! Today we decided to stay on main paths. A few of them were clear and dry. It is not as fun as our regular back trails but hey, it is was safer, plus it was a nice change of scenery. Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine! We are not going to complain about it. Freckles and I ran with smiles on our faces. We even stopped to take pictures by some reindeers. The Poop Scoop. Freckles had one poop and multiple pee breaks.

Oh, hello Archie and Freckles! It's been a while since I have seen you both! You look amazing so I take it you had a great holiday season! Archie was the first one to go out. It looks like Santa brought you a nice halter/collar? I don’t know if Archie loves it but I know I do. He was a completely different pup; so respectful! I loved it. Since you are so good, you get extra treats Archie. Now this is a good deal...right? Then I took Freckles out. We went off trail to avoid some icy sidewalks, but I am not even sure it was a good choice. Ice is everywhere and looks like it is a day to be extra careful! We had a great run still. And since the sun was bright and shiny, it really made today a perfect one. Poop Scoop: Archie had 3 pees, no poop. Freckles had 3 pees and 1 poop.

It’s been sometime since I’ve seen these two little poopers!😊 I first took Archie out and had to use a little bribery to get his booties on😜 No problem! We had a delightful peruse around the hood. He was so mellow that I lost track of time🤷🏿♀️. Next was Freckles! This cutie pie burnt up all her energy running up and down the stairs while I was headed down them. In other words, that’s how slow I was moving and how excited Freckles was! I braced myself for the Freckles sprint but it didn’t happen..... she was in a mellow mood too. All good, I’m up for whatever! We meandered around until my friend had enough. Thanks for the delightful afternoon jaunt Freckles and Archie! Good to see you kids again. 1 poo for Freckles, none for Archie, and several pees each. Cheers!

Freckles has decided she doesn’t run! Can you see her unimpressed look on her face in the pictures? Something amazing did happen today. Frecks listened to me. I had to make a stop at the house for a human pee break that I couldn’t hold. Instead of undressing her, I told her to wait at the door for me before we went back out on our adventure. She listened and she just stood there in her booties and jacket and she waited! I was shocked, Freckles listened to me. We enjoyed the slushy messy sidewalks and the sunshiny day. Frecks was very resistant against the running. She stopped and put the breaks on. The only thing that kept us moving slightly was that she had balloons on her feet, so she couldn’t grip on the ice! Not sure why she didn’t want to run, but my guess is her tummy. The new sweet potato snacks she has are coming out the same way they are going in. 😉 Have a great day Freckles. 2 poops, 18 pees.

Winter came in cold and strong today. Knowing Miss Freckles, I knew this would be a difficult day for her. Archie seemed to embrace the new weather situation, by diving face first into the snow. I am not too sure what he was searching for, but he sure was right in there. It took Archie a bit to get ready today. He made me chase him around the house to put his booties on. Archie has big paws, so that was challenging, but we got it done. We tried out his new collar today and we had a grand ole time in the winter wonderland. Sorry, Frecks! We still had to go outside. She stopped at the end of the driveway as if to say, "never mind let’s forget this". All in all, it was a great afternoon. Freckles had 1 poop, 4 pees. Archie had 6 pees, 0 poops.

Are you hearing bells Frecks? No, that is the house alarm at maximum volume! That’s how our run ended. The beginning was peaceful and relaxed, except for Freckles' ego being slightly damaged in her running outfit. We ran, we sniffed, she had two poops, and we ran a little more. The weather is changing for the good today until the rest of the week. Heading back home, when we entered, something wasn’t right, I could hear a women’s voice (a digital voice). Frecks gave me the look like she knew what was next! Boom ALARM! And of course, it took me a moment to think of what to do! Crisis adverted, owner advised, alarm off! Then I had to hunt for poor Frecks, so loud on those dog ears. It’s over girl! 2 poops, 8 pees.

Today was chilly, and the neighbourhood sure is icy, first up was Archie. I spent today’s walk trying to understand Archie. Some days he is so easy to walk, not giving other dogs a second glance. Other days his sole focus is on the other walking dogs in the area, pulling me, barking and carrying on. Why can two days be so different? Time in his kennel maybe? His sister Freckles maybe? Who knows, but today was a challenge for Archie. Freckles was in a great mood until the booties had to be put on. We made it work, She tried after her bathroom break to kick them off. It was quite cute how hard she was working... See you tomorrow guys. Hopefully before the snow. Archie 3 pees no poops Freckles 1 poop 4 pees
