It was a bittersweet run today with Finn as today was our last run together, at least for a while. I decided to take Juno out with him today to make the most out of our last run. Having not seen each other since last week, Juno and Finn were super happy to see each other. As always, Finn wanted to go out fast, and with Juno happily obliging I got pulled along pretty quickly for the first 15 minutes. After I managed to slow these two down, we settled in to a nice slow jog, stopping to say hi to the many other dogs on the trails. It was a nice way to end our two weeks together.. I'll miss seeing you everyday Finn! 3 pees 1 poo

Today, there was a new addition to our daily routine, Finn greeted me with a stuffed toy. After another round of cuddles and playing fetch, Finn and I were off. We went down to the trails in Aspen. After meandering in the trees for awhile and spending some time exploring the trails,  we backtracked to where we hit the road to stay in the woods. It was another hot afternoon so we took it slow, making frequent stops so Finn could roll around in the grass (his favourite thing to do) and drink some water. After popping up to Strathcona behind the Sobey's, we made our way back home. It was an uneventful run, but nonetheless fun.  The scoop: 3 pees, 2 poos.

Finn and Taylor missing each other

Hey there Finnigan! It seemed like this sweet boy missed me just as much as I've missed him. When I walked in he greeted me enthusiastically with a toy in his mouth. After we spent a couple of minutes playing fetch and cuddling, we were ready to go. Finn's still sore from all the running he did last week, so we took it slow, much to the dismay of Finn. Going out easy is not in Finn's repertoire as he always wants to go out in a sprint. After getting a little bit lost in all of the pathways and identical looking blocks in Aspen, we navigated our way back home. We ended our run with a bang as we went around the corner and ran straight into a cat. Finn nearly pulled me off my feet as he pulled towards it very enthusiastically. The scoop: 3 pees, 2 poos.

Nice n' Easy with Finn

Today's theme with Finn was nice n' easy.  Finn's paw was tender from our run on Friday, so our game-plan was to hit some dirt pathways in the shade and do a brisk walk.  Finn was keen to go faster but I encouraged him to stop and sniff the flowers.  We found lots of beautiful wildflowers as well as aspen and birch trees. It has been really nice spending some time with Finn as I get my Golden fix while my regular Golden dog Jasper is recuperating. Finn is such a happy-go-lucky guy and kept it pretty chill until at the end of our walk he saw a deer who was bouncing away so Finn had some pep in his step. I can't blame him! The scoop: 2 poops and 2 pees.  Finn also had a few rolls in the grass which always brings out his big toothy grin.  Enjoy your upcoming runs with DGR Runner Taylor.

Finn plays a game of Where's Waldo

My first time with Finn was fabulous!  He is one big sweetheart and just seems so happy to out for his run. He sure did start out at a fast pace so I was not all that surprised that on his return home, he fizzled out a bit.  That is okay Finn.  I am happy to our the pause button and let you have a few breathers in the tall grass.  A couple of times, I could barely see him as the grass was so tall so all I saw was his leash and some fur.  It was like a game of Where's Waldo. On the way home we also ran into my friend Paola who happened to be stopping at a playground for her young daughter.   Finn was fine letting us have some catch-up time so he could rest up for the final push home. What a nice run through some great birch tree lined paths.  I hope to see you again soon, Fantastic Finn.  The scoop: 2 poops and 2 pees.

It was a scorcher today at 30 degrees, so Finn and I decided to take it easy for his afternoon outing as the sun was at its peak. Finn was as always excited to go out, wanting to sprint out as we usually do, but for the sake of my furrry friend we went out slowly jogging. This jog soon turned into a walk as the heat of the day got to Finn as he's a pretty big dude with a good amount of fur on him. We didn't go far, as we spent a lot of time taking water breaks in the shade. Compared to our last two runs together, this one was a lot less exciting, but going out with Finn is always fun. 2 poos 3 pees

Finn, Juno, Taylor and Cameron form a pack

DURATION: 1:01:30

We formed a little pack this afternoon with Finn as I took both Juno and my friend Cameron along for the run. Finn loved having so many friends along and the two dogs happily pulled us along. The heat of the sun was heavy, and this was Juno's second run today, so we slowed down pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure Finn was fine with that though as he must have been sweltering under that big coat of fur.  I also  think he was a bit tired from our run yesterday. After going out with a bang, we ended our run with a nice slow jog/walk; taking plenty of breaks in the shade so the dogs could drink some water and recuperate. The scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo.

A surefire way to brighten any gloomy afternoon is to take a Golden and a Golden Doodle out for a run. Finn and Juno became fast friends, and a big brother little sister type of relationship quickly blossomed between them. You would not believe how quickly these two pulled me down 69th st. as they were both super excited to be out, even in this rain. We made our way towards Griffith Woods, and whoever says swimming is a sunny day activity must be wrong as these two splashed around the creek and chased each other's tails. What comes down must go up, and after a fun time running around Griffith, we trekked back up 69th. It was a long haul and by the time we got close to home, I can confidently say all three of us were pretty tired. Thanks Finn for brightening my day! 3 pees 1 poo.

Giddy Up Finn provides stress relief

Giddy Up‼ Finn and I were able to slide in our run or better labeled as 'faster faster sprint and then relax and repeat outing before the clouds opened up again. Today was so funny, we started off on the down hill and Finn was "yahoooo that's how I like to run" faster down hill. He had this big smile and then we hit the flat and Finn saw this puddle of water that he had to lay down in like he was luxuriating in a bath tub - I had a chuckle. 😊Then we had the up hill which he appeased me with and then we had this other section of down hill. Well Finn looked at me with a look like "you know what you have to do.......Giddy Up‼️" We ran down that hill like we where on fire - I started to laugh out loud so hard that I ended up with a side stitch but so well worth it. Giddy Up is like releasing all your stresses. Finn you are the medicine for the soul. Doggy Business - 2 poops and 1 long pee.

Pooched but happy!

What a great first outing with Finn today! He welcomed me with such a fun loving and affectionate personality and that totally carried through to the rest of our run together! We started at a hot pace but had plenty of opportunity to stop and catch our breath with mud puddles and some interesting terrain on our adventure together. With my lack of familiarity of the area we had quite the interesting route but Finn was more than happy to explore this new and uncharted territory. Post run, Finn and I were definitely what you call "pooched" but for how tired we were there was equal parts happiness mixed in, and to top it all off Finn had a quick roll in the grass! Doggy business: 1 poop, and 1 verrrrryyy long pee.

A journey from Dreamland to Academia with Finn

Hello Happy Boy🐶!! Finn gives the warmest welcomes, so happy. Even when he is running his tail wags, swish swish. Today we started out with the slightest bit of rain keeping everything fresh. We hit this trail that was so beautiful and peaceful, it was just Finn and I in the rain surrounded by nature. The sounds of our run was this meditative rhythm of running shoes hitting the trail with the faintest of tinkle tinkle for harmony coming from Finn's dog tags. I think Finn & I traveled to 'Dreamland' when we woke (the path was finished) we came across this statue of a knight in armor - a photo op must! Then we swung by Webber Academy and headed back home. Then we ran past Rundle College. Dreamland turned into Academia - that was a switch😜. Doggy Business Report = 2 poops and 3 pees.

Oh Finn, I'm smitten. What a lovely pooch. I'm not feeling very healthy today so when I was greeted with smiles and kisses my pain went away😊 Finn took me on a fantastic run today and was more than happy to walk the hills. Don't you just love it when they do their business right beside the garbage? How polite!  Finn had some water and well deserved treats . Haha! When we got home. he seemed ready to go for another run! Sorry buddy, I sat outside with him for a while before saying goodbye. 2 poos and yes he did pee (I forgot how many times). Thanks Finn the pleasure was all mine!

Christmas in July?

Christmas came early today when I opened the door to Finn's house he greeted me with a Christmas Reindeer toy which he was so happy to show me. Finn did a little prance or maybe it was a Reindeer Dance 😂. Off we headed in the glorious coolness, there are 2.78 kms missing on the map which starts at the Bow Trail pathway then onto Strathcona Hill and up up up Strathcona Drive for 1.32 kms. In my last post with Fin,  I mentioned his pace change when going up hill. Today was another way of telling me I don't care for hills!!! At the top we crossed over a driveway into a church parking lot.  Four steps passed the driveway Finn went back into the middle of the driveway and 'Dropped & Plopped' into the middle where there was a puddle. I had to just laugh, and give him his time to bask in the puddle. I was glad I left a towel at his house just in case he got muddy😊. When we got home he picked up his reindeer and headed to his bed. One afternoon sleep is happening at Finn's house for sure. 2 poops & 2  pees.

Room to love another Golden

Hello Finn! What a lovely boy you are. Finn knew immediately when I walked in the door, that I was his runner. Since this was our first time meeting I was wondering if he would make shy. But true to 'Golden' form he greeted my with a happy disposition. Don't tell Murphy (my 15 year old Golden Retriever) but I think I'm in love with another Golden.💗💛❤️Well, as all dog lovers know, the human heart can hold a lot of love for lots of dogs. Finn was ready to hit the run fast, which was great. I learned his magic 'heal' is going up hill. So we run fast on the flat and down hill - with Finn in the lead pulling me. Then bam we hit the uphill and there is a lead reversal and a noticeable speed change😅 in a matter of seconds. Aww! Finn we are going to have some great fun together. The Doggy Business Report = 2 poops and 1 long pee. TGIF and have a good weekend my new love.

Today Taylor and I had the pleasure of meeting and running with returning DGR dog, Finn. He has that good- natured personality that Golden Retrievers have. So adorable, as you can see by the many pictures we took. Our first four km were taken at a pretty quick pace! We ran through the pathways to Strathcona Woods. All three of us were loving the trail running there. And then when we emerged onto the sidewalks again, the sun and exertion hit us. I think I could have pushed myself to run harder, but thankfully Finn wanted an easier pace. We even stopped for a break in the shade and a sip from the Gulpy pet water bottle. Finn eventually drained the bottle! All in all a wonderful first run with a wonderful dog!! Doggy business, one poop and one pee.
