It was a bittersweet reunion with Oscar and Edgar, two of my favourite Doodles as it is Moving Day. Their mom asked if I could give them an early morning pre-travel outing to help make their day in the car a bit more enjoyable. I jumped at this opportunity and was thrilled to see the boys. It was really smokey at 5;30 a.m. and a bit eerie outside but being with these two always puts a smile on my face. We did a bit of a light jog and speed walk to accomplish our mission to tire them out without filling their lungs with too much smoke. We love running in Fish Creek Park but due to the darkness, we stuck to the 'hood. The leashes got a bit tangled from time to time into what I call a braid so we did some untangling and the boys had some sniffs. The scoop: 1 poo for Edgar and 4-5 pees for both Edgar and Oscar. Thanks again to their mom for the wine, plants, and an opportunity to see Eddie and Oskie one more time. Safe travels and best wishes for your new adventures in Vancouver.

Our Mini Vacation is closing to an end, and I must go home. Edgar, Oscar and I had another great river run this morning. We went a different direction and there were lots of people on the pathway. We saw a guy out running his two dogs and we gave each other a big ”Hello”. It is cool to see all these dog-loving people out with big smiles on their faces. Once we got home and rehydrated it was time for our last cuddles and then goodbyes. Mischka (one of the cats) is not so much into cuddling but ran up to where I slept so I guess she is still thinking about me.😊 Missing the ’Fur Family’ already. The Doggy Business Report: Both Edgar & Oscar had 2 poops each and 5 pees on the run.

The past 24 hours have been lots of fun hanging out with ’The Fur Family’. Yesterday’s excitement was when Theodore (the kitty cat) took Edgar’s bed in the window. Edgar handled it very well and sat like a ’human’ on the couch beside HIS bed and waited and waited for his bed back. It was rather entertaining, my bet was on Theo🐱. Last night at TV time the joke was on me!! Both Oscar & Edgar jumped up on either side of me on the couch and squished us all together like a sandwich. On the note of up close and personal, the close-up photo of Edgar is him saying ’Good Morning Michelle’.😊. Today's run along the river was fantastic and the breeze was welcomed by all of us. As I type this blog, the house is all napping except for Mischka who is watching my fingers move rather curiously😂. The Doggy Business Report: Edgar - 1 poop and 5 pees. Oscar 6 pees.

With a pounce on the bed, and ‘A Good Morning to you too Edgar.’ 🐶!! Oscar slept on the bed all night but it was rather funny when Edgar realized I was still at his house. I could hear him running up the stairs and then I was being covered with morning kisses. We all reached the bottom of the stairs where Theo & Mischka patiently awaited their breakfast. All morning rituals have been completed and it is time for some an outside run with Edgar and Oscar. We stayed under as many trees as we could find to keep cool. It is always fun exploring different areas. Today’s theme was a continued greeting we would get as we approached people. ‘Oh they look so happy’ or ‘What beautiful dogs’ All so true.😊 The Doggy Business Report: Edgar had 2 poops and 4 pees. Oscar had 1 poop and 3 pees.

It’s Mini Vacation Time 👍. I am on holidays with my pals Edgar & Oscar (the Chocolate Labradoodles) and Theodore & Mischa (the Persian Beauties). Even though we didn’t leave the city, it’s a great break to stay at the gang's home. What a welcome I received today; the love was amazing. Edgar pushed himself through my legs so that I would not forget about his cuddles. Then Oscar ran upstairs to my bedroom, jumped on the bed. I think he was ready for a pajama party. No not yet we have to go for our evening run. Also I have to burn off some calories from the great pasta dinner your Mom left for me. It was a lovely evening run, and so much cooler. Edgar was a wee bit tired to start but as per usual finished strong and in front of the pack. Okay gang it is TV and cuddle time, and of course a snack. The Doggy Business Report: 3 pees for both boys.

This morning is our last run of our mini vacay together so let's make it a fabulous one. We explored a new part to Fish Creek Park and the smells there must have been good as Edgar and Oscar were in snifiing heaven. Oscar was in full on hunting mode so it made me think there was some critters near by. Edgar is so funny because he sometimes gets a little spooked. When we stumbled upon Annie's Cafe and the nearby garden. he was a bit scared around the Lone Wolf statue (see photo). Silly Edgar! What I have learned during my stay is how much Edgar loves to sit and watch all the happenings outside from his doggy bed and big window. Oscar prefers to snuggle with me in bed and he was a perfect companion as he did not hog the covers! It has been such a lovely time together with Edgar, Oscar, Theo, and Mischka. I miss not having a cat so that was a real treat. If I had these lovelies, I would definitely want to be a Stay at Home Dog Mom. Thanks for the wonderful holiday!

Day 2 of petsitting the amazing foursome: Oscar, Edgar, Theo and Mischka. We woke up to a light snow but on my monring run with the Doodles, the snow was coming down in force. Eddie and Oscar were covered with heavy wet flakes (see photos) and I know I could barely see as well. It was funny because Mischka wanted to join us and was right by the door when we left. I was thinking how I just wanted to stay inside and cuddle up with the kitties. Last night I think it was Mischka that was doing spins on the floor by my bed. I think these cats like to party at night. I had 2 more runs before returning back to this furry family to get in some cuddle time and a short evening stroll.

It is Spring Break and Easter weekend is coming up so I get a mini stay vacation with Oscar, Edgar, Theo, and Mischka. It has been a while since I have seen my favourite Chocolate Doodles so I was pretty excited to get some quality time with them. Our first activity was to go down to Fish Creek Park (one of my favourite places) for a run/brisk walk. As we were heading down the pathway, a pheasant flew right in front of us. How wonderful! We took it pretty easy as we have not been running together for a bit so it was just nice to enjoy the bright sunshine, the scenery, the smells
(especially for the doggies), and each other's company. The boys each had a poo and too many pees to count. Some things never change as the boys always wind up with a cool braided leash and we always have a good time together. Stay tuned to hear more about our time together.

Today was my first 2018 run with good friends Oscar and Edgar. It was also my first run with Oscar since his surgery on his dew claw so we took it easy. Even though it was a day of firsts, it will be my last run with the boys for a bit so I wanted to really savour it. We turned down the speed and turned up our senses to our surroundings. We saw a pheasant once again as well as lots of geese and ducks. Edgar was pretty keen on meeting some of the geese but I steered him away with some yummy treats. You can see the photo with him licking his lips, There were lots of smiles on the run as we all enjoy our time together in the snow. It still was hard saying goodbye for now and I felt quite teary leaving. Extra hugs and extra treats helped. Take care Oski and Edgar! The scoop: 1 poo for Edgar and several pees for both of these sweet Labradoodles.

Oscar is set for dew claw surgery tomorrow so today was all about taking it easy and enjoying the smells and sights in Fish Creek Park. I fel like we saw all kinds of fowl today from a Golden Eagle to a Pheasant to tons of ducks. I like to call the ducks on the creek (ducksicles) because they look like popsicles in the water. With all the birds, I am surprised we did not see a partridge in a pear tree. Both Edgar and Oscar enjoyed sniffing out the birds and did not mind that it was a brisk walk. We made 2 stops to get out some snow in their pawpads to make sure both guys were comfortable. WIth more sniffing time, there was lots of marking today so countless pees but no poos. I think we all enjoyed the snow as both Edgar and Oscar scooped up a few mouthfuls. Thanks again for my sweet gift. I told you mom that wine is my love language. If I don't see you in a few days, let's get together in the new year. Good luck with surgery Oskie! Edgar, take care of your brother

A last minute run with Edgar and Oscar is always a treat. That said, I did not have any treats to give the boys as the dogs I was running today all have allergies. I guess the treat will have to be ME. I think Oscar was cool with this idea as he loves belly rubs but Edgar kept giving me a funny look like, wait a sec, we usually get 1 treat at the beginning of the run, one at halfway and one at the finish line. Well, I do have a run with you on Friday so you will have to wait (but I promise it will be worth it). Fish Creek was a tad windy but it was warm wind and it was lovely seeing the long grass blowing in the wind and the doggies with their wind blown fur. The scoop: 1 poo each and 2-3 pees each. See you in a few sleeps Edgar and Oscar!

Edgar and Oscar, are you ready to impress prospective DGR Runner Tara? Eddie and Oskie sure showed Tara the many joys of running with dogs including: beautiful scenery. Fish Creek was as lovely as ever and we even spotted 2 eagles (a bald eagle and maybe a golden eagle) who found something yummy on the rock island. Next, Edgar and Oscar showed Tara how easy it is to run with 2 dogs. I did disclose to Tara that these boys are some of the best behaved in town. The next perk of dog running was the workout. Edgar and Oscar can go the distance so we got in 12K today. We almost stopped at 11 but were so close to 12 and the dogs were very happy so we continued. Oscar's dew claw must be recovering. The last perk is meeting nice families. Edgar and Oscar's mom left me some lovely Honeycrisp apples. It sure was a wonderful post run snack. Don't worry, the Doodles also got some well earned doggy treats. The scoop: 1 poo each and a few pees here and there for both boys. Have a great weekend and welcome to DGR Tara!

This morning was a bit of a gong show for me as I had my car towed after trying a new gym and not seeing that the car needed to be moved by 6:30 a.m. So after a stop at the impound lot, I knew seeing Oscar and Edgar was going to cheer me up. I wonder if dog's sense when people need extra TLC because Edgar and Oscar sure did deliver. It was another perfect blue sky day and they ran at such an even smooth pace and listened to me tell them about my week. With today being December 1st, we had to get in the holiday spirit and pose by one of their neighbour's impressive outdoor displays. I used a green and red leash today so even the boys looked Christmassy. It is funny because they always seem like they are running perfectly to one side and then I notice the tangled leash. Well, today's theme after the unexpected morning events, was "Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle." Thanks for keeping me positive Eddie and Oskie! The scoop: 1 poo for Oscar and 3-4 pees for both. P.S. there were lots of geese on the golf course. They were quite loud!

What a magical Monday morning to take these beautiful lads for a run. I think that they are the most well-behaved dogs I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Upon arriving, I heard a bit of barking but was greeted by wagging tails and smiles. As soon as I went to put on their collars both sat without being asked and it was no fuss at all to get them ready. They were both eager to go. Out the door and running through the neighborhood, they both veered towards a fenced house, nothing there. We ran the ridge line, stopping to enjoy the view of the amazing snow-capped Rockies, then down the hill past the McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, around Sikome Lake, across the bridge and continued up the hill looping back. On the way home, the boys veered to the same wire fenced house, but this time were greeted by a small Terrier, eager to see them. I was lucky to get lots of kisses and cuddles today and I loved our first run together. The scoop: Oscar - 1 pee, Edgar - 2 poops and 3 pees.

For some, today was Black Friday but for me it was Chocolate Friday. It is time to take out Edgar and Oscar for our Friday 10K. I had not climber up the Sikome Lake Hill since doing the Harvest Half Marathon on the fall so I thought it was time to give it another go. I have been a bit under the weather with a chest cold so I was glad to have these boys encouraging me. I prefer to get the hardest part of the workout done at the beginning so this run was perfect. We were into the wind and uphill on the way out and then we got to enjoy the wind pushing us downhill and towards home. Edgar and Oscar enjoyed the warmer weather and all the smells. Next week they will get a new Monday runner (Cath) who lives near them so I gave the boys extra love and treats before saying goodbye today. The scoop: 1 poo for Edgar and both boys had 4 pees. See you next Friday!
