![]() DISTANCE: 10.01 km DURATION: 58:46 Oh Charlie, today was our last run together. Luckily for us, the weather held out and we enjoyed a beautiful run in the sun. You were so excited to get going today and we stopped for one last photo together on a park bench 😍 You’ve been one of my favourite dogs to run and I hope you keep up with your fitness when you get to Australia. You were not a big stop-and-sniff kind of guy so we were always able to keep our pace nice consistent. Today we did one big loop through your neighbourhood and finished it off with a speedy pace down the big long hill. I wish you safe travels tomorrow buddy and before you know it you’ll be with your mom and dad again. Thanks for all the beautiful runs! I am sure going to miss you. Charlie's Scoop: 3 pees. ![]() DISTANCE: 7.76 km DURATION: 59:48 Oooohhh Charlie there wasn’t a whole lot of motivation to get outside and run today! It was a nasty one out there! We headed down the golf course hill and lo and behold a coyote crossed our path! He was not a shy fella! Once we passed him, he stopped on the road and howled at us several times so we got the heck out of there! We continue on into Fish Creek and even though it was raining, the sun came through a couple times making the world a brighter place ☀️ Then we came across a crane and a pelican in the river! The weather improved as we started to approach home and you were ready to be back for a good afternoon nap! See you Monday Charlie ....for our last run together. I am sure going to miss you buddy! Charlie's Scoop: 3 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.28 km DURATION: 1:00:42 Charlie!! We beat the rain again! I’m so happy I picked you up earlier this morning to get our run in. We were able to enjoy the nicest part of the day I think. Today, we ran along the ridge and enjoyed a really nice view of downtown Calgary. It was nice and cool out which gave you more energy to run I think. There were a lot of people out walking dogs this morning and lucky for me, they were mostly small dogs so you had no problem just passing by them. Haha. We stopped to tie my shoelace at one point and you spent a good two minutes rubbing your nose in the grass. Haha. The last few kilometres home were easy and fast. Thanks for a great run Charlie. See you Friday at your Grandma's 😊. Charlie’s Scoop: 3 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 10.00 km DURATION: 1:06:51 Happy Monday Charlie! Welcome back to my hood!! It was another beautiful sunny day for a run. You were soooooo ready to get running today ! I had to reel you in several times until we settled into a good pace together. We ran through Fish Creek today and saw lots of people out with their dogs. You kept pulling me towards the river but sorry buddy, we cannot go swimming! I think the heat was getting to you towards the end of our run as you slowed right down. We walked for a few minutes in the shade which was actually really nice for both of us. As we neared your Aunty’s house, I accidentally ran past her street 🤣. You knew where to turn but I kept us going straight ahead. Haha . Once I realized the mistake, we turned around and you led us home . We came in at just under 10km so I made us run to the end of the street and back to get us to a nice round number.I think this a runner’s pet peeve.... I can’t leave a run at 9.95km 🤷♀️ Call me weird. Well enjoy your snooze this afternoon and I’ll see you later this week. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.00 km DURATION: 53:23 Hi Charlie! We beat the storm today!!!!The clouds were rumbling while we were running and I thought for sure we would get rained on but we beat it! Today we had a great run. Our pace was speedy and we covered 9 km with some time to spare! Nothing exciting really happened other than chasing a jack rabbit for 100m. We cruised through the neighbourhood instead of Fish Creek today and it felt good to pick up the pace a little. I bet you will have a great nap this afternoon because you were pretty tired coming in on that last stretch of sidewalk. Rest up this weekend buddy as we’ve got several runs planned next week before you leave Canada. Charlie’s Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 8.61 km DURATION: 1:03:58 OOOOHHH it’s a hot one Charlie! This weather will definitely get you prepared for your adventure Down Under! We went for an out-and-back run today along the river. I was trying to keep us in the shade as much as possible but it was still a sunny run. I’m sorry we can’t jump in the river buddy...... if there was a day perfect for that, it was today. We had a brief moment of excitement, as a little grass snake crossed in our path today. I let out a scream but you didn’t seem fazed by it at all 🤣. At our turn-around point, I noticed a beautiful red barn across the river. Great photo op! On our way back, we saw three huge white pelicans in the river. Again .... you were hoping I would let you jump in the river. We also stopped for a nice picture in front of my favourite tree in Fish Creek Park. Enjoy your cool-down Charlie and see you Friday! Charlie's scoop: 3 pees only. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 7.57 km DURATION: 1:04:01 Happy Monday Charlie, You’re alway so happy when I arrive! I was excited to see you too, but my legs were not excited to run today. I had a big race on Saturday (38km) so had very tired, sore legs. Thankfully, you weren’t in a really fast mood today. Haha!. It was actually a really beautiful day for a run. Not too hot and not windy. We made our way along the ridge and through some twisty pathways before turning back. We met a lovely woman on the pathway who asked if she could pet you. You reminded her of her old dog whose name also happened to be Charlie! She agreed that running with a dog was wonderful company! By the time we got home, you were panting pretty good. I’m proud of our 7km run today....it’s way further than I thought these legs would carry me! Thanks for a good recovery run! Charlie’s Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 8.65 km DURATION: 1:06:29 Good day Charlie. I wasn’t sure how this run would go today...I am more sore than I thought I would be from my weekend adventures. Thankfully, some easy kilometers loosened up my tight muscles! We tootled our way through your neighbourhood then it was time to hit some single track. The sun was blazing on our run but the steady breeze helped keep us cool. As we headed back towards your house, my plan was to run along the river. We discovered our usual crossing was now completely under water....and not just by a little bit! I can’t believe how much the river has come up in the last few days. Getting back to your house was a challenge since we couldn’t cross. We did a lot of exploring through housing developments, weird fields, and finally....to your house. Have a great rest of your day. See you later this week. Charlie’s Scoop: 1 poop, 2 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 6.86 km DURATION: 50:23 Happy Friday Charlie (cough cough!) Holy Cow, I did not expect this smoke to roll in like this! I could hardly make out the rooftops coming down the hill to your neighbourhood today. Charlie and I took it very easy on our run. We stayed along the edge of the river in hopes that there was a little less smoke but I don’t think it made a difference. Charlie was raring to go despite the crappy air quality and we did manage to get in over 6 km so I’m happy with that. Better than nothing right Charlie?! At one point, he was really pulling to get in the river but we have to keep you in perfect condition overseas! See you next week Charlie. I sure hope the smoke is gone by then so we can run further together. Charlie’s Scoop: 2 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 10.30 km DURATION: 1:09:21 Good afternoon Mr. Charlie. What a beautiful day for a run. The sun was shining and it was starting to heat up, but thankfully there was a breeze to keep us cool. Today, we tried a run without your lead and just used your collar and leash. You seemed so much happier to run without your lead around your muzzle. We ran a new route today and although I don’t like dandelions, we stopped to get some cute photos of you with them! They are in full bloom in our neck of the woods and add a nice splash of colour to the river valley. At one point in our run, we were getting close to your auntie's house and you totally thought we were going there.... pulling me in that direction.... until you realized we weren’t. Hahaha. Great running today Charlie... we hit double digits! See you late this week! Charlie’s scoop: 1 poop, 3 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 8.04 km DURATION: 59:45 Happy Friday Charlie! It’s always great to see you buddy. Today I biked over to your house and according to my watch I was over the speed limit going down the hill into your neighbourhood. Haha. You were sure excited to get going today. We took off along the river today to get some single-track hill work in. There were so many geese ‘couples’ with brand new goslings in the river! We stopped for a moment to watch mom and dad guide these little fuzzballs away from danger (presumably US?) We continued on to a dreaded hill I train at for my obstacle races.... Charlie lead the way at an unenthusiastic pace - hahaha. He sure was happy to get to the top and take a rest. Our route home was much more fun and fast. You are such a good runner Charlie! We finished off with a paw dip in the river to clean off the mud from the trails. Have a great weekend Charlie and see you next week. Charlie’s scoop: 2 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.79 km DURATION: 1:03:05 Happy Wednesday Charlie! I’m sure glad we rescheduled for today..... we were blessed with some warmer temperatures and sunshine which made our run beautiful! I was due to get my long run in today so I tied that in with your run. Lucky for me, I could just run from my house to yours, pick you up, run some more, drop you off, and run home for a 21km round trip! Today, we saw some deer crossing the road, tackled a very steep hill (where we transitioned to a power hike!) and finished off our run winding through the neighbourhood pathways. Your lead was bugging you a bit today so you’d stop periodically and try and take it off... (your efforts never being successful). Thanks for another great run Charlie and see you later this week. Charlie’s Scoop: 1 poop, 3 pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 7.90 km DURATION: 55:23 Boy, am I glad we decided to run today and not tomorrow! It looks like the weather is going to take a turn for the worse and nobody will be keen to be outside in pouring rain! We had another fantastic trail run along the Bow River today. Charlie and I explored a part of Fish Creek I had never been to before so that was fun. We also saw a big Bald Eagle soaring in the wind which was really cool. At our turn-around point, Charlie and I took our first selfie together hahaha.... Things are getting serious Charlie! We seem to have established a bit of a routine to our run now.... at the end I let Charlie take a quick paw dip in the river to clean off his paws before we head home on the paved pathway. Today, he had a mischievous look in his eyes...was he was thinking of diving under the water? Thank goodness he didn’t, as I don’t think Mom would have been too impressed with a drenched dog. See you again soon Charlie. Charlie’s Scoop: two pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 8.43 km DURATION: 1:01:28 Happy Monday Charlie! I have a motto for Mondays: “Never Miss a Monday” .... meaning....I never miss a Monday workout and I’m happy that I was able to do my workout with him today. We had another beautiful, sunny mid-day run together with a lot of varied terrain. I’m still being mindful of his paws (so not to make them sore). We are avoiding concrete as much as we can. We ran along the river today then up into some neighbourhoods, winding through the urban parks. There are so many beautiful flowers in bloom now. I tried to take a photo of Charlie with some purple crocuses but he was more interested in doing full body rolls in the grass. I think he was getting tired towards the end of our run today and likely hot too! Why does he insist on wearing his big, long fancy fur coat on our runs🤣? We had a quick paw splash in the river to clean him off before we hit home for his nap in the cool garage. See you later this week Charlie! Charlie’s Scoop: two pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 7.35 km DURATION: 56:51 Happy Friday Charlie! What a happy guy you were today! You even let out a little bark of excitement as we left your house 😊. Today, we did all kinds of training. We set out to find some single track and had great success! We climbed. We descended. We climbed again. We descended again. We scared some deer. We flushed a pheasant. We found mud and dirt trails I didn’t even know were there.! At one point when we stopped, you went through my legs and looked up at me and it was adorable! We may not have logged as many kilometres as I thought we would but we sure made up for it with all our hill climbing. Thanks for another great run Charlie and I look forward to our next one. Enjoy your nap! I think I might go do the same! Charlie’s Scoop: 2 pees. Runner: Nancy |
