DISTANCE:  4.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute

Spending my Valentine’s Day Morning with these two happy blonde boys was the perfect start to the day! Buster was extra well-behaved today, loose leash walking beside me almost the entire time. He was a little unimpressed with me when I took away the empty Tim Horton’s bag he had so proudly found in the snow, but we quickly recovered with apologetic belly rubs. We also saw a big black squirrel that made him jump into the air like a kangaroo! As usual, Winger was super duper excited when we returned because he knows that’s when he gets to go play in the snow. We had EPIC snowbank rolls today! He had me and another lady on the pathway in fits of laughter with his pure, unbridled joy for life as he flailed happily in the drifts. Winger was a very good boy when we ran into a loose cat today - the cat came running right up to us, but I told Winger to ‘Leave It’ and ‘Stay Close’ and he didn’t lose his cool for even a second. The Scoop: Buster had 1 pee, 1 poop. Winger had 2 pees, no poop.

DISTANCE: 5 km  DURATION: 1 hour

It was my first time running these handsome boys, and they were just so excited when I arrived.  Their mom told me that Buster is part kangaroo and it couldn’t be more true!  Buster and I went first and we had an excellent run along the pathway.  It was nice and clear from ice so we got to actually run today!  He was so polite and so good at staying close to me as we passed people and dogs alike.  We even indulged in some belly rubs in the middle of the pathway!  Once I arrived home and switched over to Winger, we slowed down the pace to be careful of Winger’s knee, and we had a lovely stroll; making sure to stop every few minutes to roll in the snow!  He was very good about ignoring other dogs and people, but he got very excited when he found an abandoned ball in someone’s yard.  He was a little sad, but he understood when I told him that he couldn’t bring it home.  The Scoop: Buster had 2 pees, 1 poop.  Winger had 1 pee.  No map today.

Winger....Buster.... attack Audra!!! Not really, attack me with Golden Love... now that is a warm welcome.  Thanks boys. For a moment I didn’t know if I was coming or going or what was happening. We went on a great morning walk, down into Fish Creek.  We saw a beautiful wedding set up. It was very original with these table pods. It was so quiet down in the park until we got close to the Visitor Centre and then we were face to face with about 30 kids under 10, asking to pet the Golden boys. Of course, I have no worries when it comes to these two and strangers near them.  They love the attention!  After we dropped Winger off, I took Buster out for a 1 km jog. Coming back to drop off the pup, I had a great chat and snack with the very patient dog mom. I honestly don’t think these two could let you be in a bad mood; they are so happy and joyful.  Thanks for the great morning. Until next time. Buster had 1 poop, 3 pees. Winger had nothing.

Winger and Buster Reunion! How is it going boys? Buster just graduated Doggy School on Friday... I couldn’t wait to meet the new Buster! I arrived at the Goldens' home and it was WILD... not sure if they recognized me or they were just happy to get outside. Buster was exactly how I remembered him.  He was jumping like a kangaroo! Buster are you sure you graduated?😂😂 I decided to take double trouble out for a walk to start off. We enjoyed the crisp spring air and the beautiful views of Fish Creek Park. The boys calmed down about 10 minutes into our adventure. We figured it all out and kit was smooth sailing from there on. We dropped off Winger and then Buster and I went for a light jog with lots of breaks. We added a trail hill in there for some fun. Thanks boys! Winger had no business. Buster had 1 poop, 4 pees.

Winger & Buster had a 3.5 km walk

I love that Winger excitedly greets me with whimpers and toys. I was looking forward to seeing these gorgeous Goldens again. It felt like it's been such a long time between visits. Winger and I both felt like a fast run today. Although we had a strong headwind, we managed a good out and back run along the ridge. I was surprised that Winger actually stopped for a quick pee, and a couple of drinks in the various puddles. We quickly grabbed Buster and headed out again. This time for our warm-down walk. The neighbourhood was quiet today. Buster was busy looking for something to chase and he got excited when seeing a few birds. It was "hello butterfly, oh...goodbye butterfly", as Buster was too quick. We walked along the ridge, down into Fish Creek Park and along a trail and into the river for a bit of play and a drink. When we arrived home I gave them both a wipe-down of dirty paws and some treats. The Scoop: Winger had 1 pee and Buster had 1 poop.

**Photo from Audra's archives, No it's not snowing in Calgary today!**

Do you ever have one of those days? Not today for me, I was very organized except when I got to Winger and Buster's house I had no PHONE. What do I do? I looked at the temperature, and decided to kick it old school before it got too hot. Use my watch. First up! Winger! The poop-less dog pooped today. Miracles do happen. Our run was one of our best. We saw two deer running on the path by the river. All the dogs running and walking scared them and they jumped full throttle into the river and swam across to the Mckenzie side. That river is moving, so it was amazing to watch. We hit the dirt trails and did a traditional Winger loop, stopping at Annie’s for water. We picked up Buster. Buster did great today. His jumping has calmed down and he seems to be more focused. We did a loop around the neighbourhood and chatted with some other dog people. It was a gorgeous day. Winger had 1 poop, 4 pees. Buster had 1 poop, 3 pees.

Energetic Buster Chases Anything That Moves

DISTANCE: 2.60 km  DURATION: 33 minutes

No jumping at all from Buster today, but I must admit he was back to being an energetic puppy. Everything and anything that moved, Buster wanted to chase. A feather blew across the street, Buster got excited. He was snapping at grass and insects, and tangling the leads. I decided to head to the trails again. Both Winger and Buster had their noses in the grass and enjoying the smells in the dirt. At the end of the trail, the snow was a bit heavy and the branches were leaning over. I let the lads have a good roll around and Buster was interested in insects as they flew out of the long grass. I tried for quite a while to get a lovely photo of them both together...no luck there. They wouldn't stay still.  Oh well, maybe one day. We turned around and headed home. Buster found a gardening glove on the way back, which I let him carry for a little while. He had found a ski glove early. The joys of the snow melting...so much to discover. The Scoop: Buster had 1 poop, 3 pees. Winger had 1 poop, 2 pees.

Winger and Cath Have the Fastest and Dirtiest Run!

DISTANCE: 6.16 km  DURATION: 30 minutes

Dark clouds and a few drops of rain were how we started our run today. I thought Winger and I may get very wet, but we seem to manage to outrun the rain. Winger had his fast legs on today. According to my Garmin. our first km was 4:17 min/km and our second was 4:12 min/km. Woah Winger. He was pulling a bit today, so I have discovered that if Winger won't slow, it's better to run him on the trails. Plus, it is more fun for both of us than running on the paths. The trails automatically slowed him down. There was a mixture of melting snow, somewhat slushy puddles, and dirt & mud. It was lots of fun, but it's the dirtiest I have been to-date. Winger had a few drinks in the puddles and crunched snow. He had his usual rolling around and today Winger actually did 3 pees. We both had so much fun. We walked up the hill out of Fish Creek Park, then ran a steady 2 km back to get Buster for our walk.

Cath and Winger Excited for Their Run

Hello, happy boy Winger. Yes, I am as excited as you for our run together. What a fabulous way to start the day; blue sky, sunshine, clear sidewalks, and no jacket required. As we left Winger's house, I gave a wave to neighbour DGR Dog Roxy, who was at the window. In hindsight, a wave was probably a funny thing to do, but it felt right at the time lol. Winger and I ran a fast 2kms, and then Winger turned to go down into Fish Creek Park. I had to remind him to walk as that is a steep hill down. Winger complied. There was still a surprising amount of snow covering a section of the path, and so we stopped and Winger had a good roll around. He even had a pee!! We continued running a bit further in Fish Creek and then turned around to run back. Winger had another stop, drop, roll in the snow and then we had to run up the same steep hill home. Time to get Buster for our walk. The Scoop: 1 pee.

Winger and Buster's Mom Makes It Nice and Easy for Cath

I really appreciate Buster's mom making it so easy for me by having collars on the lads and Buster in his pen. After our run, I leave Winger outside in the backyard for a moment and go in to collect Buster. Once I release Buster from his pen, he does a few energetic circles, we have a cuddle and I attach his lead. Lock up, grab Winger and off we go...all nice and easy. After our run, Winger is happy to heel and Buster is excited. He was trying to chase birds today as they flew in front of us. I love Buster's floppy ear, which gets stuck up...it's so cute. Most of the time he will turn his head and it will flop back down. We walked along the ridge on the grass area, where there were a lot of gopher holes. We stopped and both lads had a good ground sniff and Buster had a good dig as well. I was glad they caught nothing. It was probably the easiest walk yet. Buster did not jump, tangle leads or pull. What an awesome boy he is! Scoop: Buster had 1 poo.

Icy, well that is an understatement! The Golden's mom warned me of the sketchy conditions, so we downgraded to a walk this morning. It took us a bit to get out the door. with Winger and Buster in a  pretzel, The leashes were all around us. Buster tangled in Winger's leash. I was standing on one foot trying to kick the door!!! Success! So I thought, then I realized Winger chewed through the leash and isn’t attached anymore! He was running wild in the backyard. Buster and I went back in the house for a fresh leash and we were off! When we got it together, we had a great experience.  We saw a total of 17 deer in Fish Creek Park. Buster really enjoys the snow; looking up at it as if it is a gift from above, Winger, happy as always, enjoyed rolling around in the white stuff. It was a beautiful quiet morning with my two favourite pups. Winger had no bio breaks, Buster had 1 pee, no 💩.

Everything Fast with Winger Today

DISTANCE: 6.51 km  DURATION: 32 minutes

I was greeted today with lots of excited whimpers when Winger saw me at the door. I was extremely excited as well as this was the first time, in a long time, that the weather was allowing us to run together. Buster was in his pen, which made for a fast getaway with Winger. And once out the door, everything was fast. I must admit that I was a bit concerned whether I would be able to keep up with him today, having raced on Sunday and then I ran my 30km long slow distance yesterday, but all was good. The beauty of running with Winger is that you just run and don't need to worry if there are any distractions of birds, runners or other dogs, as Winger totally ignores everything and everyone. We ran out and back, and occasionally I needed to jump some ice, but overall, the conditions were clear. At the turn-around Winger had a quick roll in the snow and we headed back to collect Buster for a walk. No doggy business for Winger (ever).

Winger and I returned after our run, and I let Winger play in the backyard whilst I got Buster organized. Buster sure is maturing and better at settling on command. Even walking, there is less entanglement of leads and only the occasional excited jumping up on me. I still hold him tightly when people pass, just in case. We walked in the opposite direction from the one Winger and I had run, and it was lovely to see so many more birds, runners, and walkers. The grass is appearing at the edge of the sidewalk, enabling us to walk on it, around the odd section of ice. Along with the melt, comes discovery of items that have been frozen under the snow. Buster enjoyed having his nose down sniffing around for the majority of the walk and I had to have a little wrestle with him to get a plastic lid out of his mouth. Such a pleasure to walk these beautiful boys. The Scoop: Buster had 1 poop, 3 pees.

Spring has Sprung! Just kidding not yet! Wind is cold, and the air is something from the Arctic. We (Winger, Buster and I) are tough so cold air doesn’t stop us from getting our miles in. Today was an excellent day for Winger and Buster.  They both were perfect gentlemen. Winger, quick as usual, pushed my pace and gave me a great speedy run. Buster, with persistent training from his family, kept his jumping to a minimum and had an excellent walk. He stayed focused and met a few new friends on the route. Buster is great with other dogs, as is Winger.  They are both a pleasure to have on my doggy running schedule. I am happy to be a part of their dog running lives. Thanks boys for the great afternoon. Buster had 1 mini poop, 1 pee. Winger had no doggy business.  He is the poopless dog😂

Winger and Buster! What a great way to start the day! I am so comfortable with these two Goldens that it is actually a pleasure to have their names on my schedule. It was great to see their dad today. Their parents are great. Winger. like usual, is the perfect poopless running partner. It was wonderful going into Fish Creek Park, listening to the crackling snow under our feet. It was just Winger and me running wild.  Next up was Buster, the excited puppy. Buster loves to jump up on people and he is so cute, you just can’t get upset with him.  Once we got into it, we did just fine. Buster loves the street garbage, so I have to be faster than him to make him not eat it!😳😳🐾 Buster, Winger, I could hang with you all day. Winger had 1 pee, 0 poops. Buster had 3 pees, 1 poop.
