DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3
DISTANCE: 5 km DURATION: 1 hour
It was my first time running these handsome boys, and they were just so excited when I arrived. Their mom told me that Buster is part kangaroo and it couldn’t be more true! Buster and I went first and we had an excellent run along the pathway. It was nice and clear from ice so we got to actually run today! He was so polite and so good at staying close to me as we passed people and dogs alike. We even indulged in some belly rubs in the middle of the pathway! Once I arrived home and switched over to Winger, we slowed down the pace to be careful of Winger’s knee, and we had a lovely stroll; making sure to stop every few minutes to roll in the snow! He was very good about ignoring other dogs and people, but he got very excited when he found an abandoned ball in someone’s yard. He was a little sad, but he understood when I told him that he couldn’t bring it home. The Scoop: Buster had 2 pees, 1 poop. Winger had 1 pee. No map today.

Winger and Buster Reunion! How is it going boys? Buster just graduated Doggy School on Friday... I couldn’t wait to meet the new Buster! I arrived at the Goldens' home and it was WILD... not sure if they recognized me or they were just happy to get outside. Buster was exactly how I remembered him. He was jumping like a kangaroo! Buster are you sure you graduated?😂😂 I decided to take double trouble out for a walk to start off. We enjoyed the crisp spring air and the beautiful views of Fish Creek Park. The boys calmed down about 10 minutes into our adventure. We figured it all out and kit was smooth sailing from there on. We dropped off Winger and then Buster and I went for a light jog with lots of breaks. We added a trail hill in there for some fun. Thanks boys! Winger had no business. Buster had 1 poop, 4 pees.

Hello Buster Boy. You are getting so good at sitting to put on your collar and lead (unless I take too long) and then you get impatient. Fair enough!! When we left for our walk, the snow had stopped but the weather had cooled to -19 (-26 windchill). I decided it was time to explore the neighborhood in the other direction. However this took us along many icy pathways. It was cold, so not many people were out today, but Buster was still happy criss-crossing in every direction looking for something to chase. Buster would leap off the path into the deep snow, bounding to get out. This made me laugh. In Fish Creek Park, we stopped to watch a squirrel climb a tree. I took off my gloves to take a few photos and pick up after Buster's poop, but must have had them off for too long. Oh, my fingers were frozen and in pain. Buster decided to do another poop, he was shaking as that wind was cold. It can't always be fun for a dog either. Happy weekend Buster. I need a hot shower & hot chocolate. Business: 1 pee, 2 poops.

Buster, you're turning into quite the gentleman. Great walking, and very controlled on the jumping, Buster is a delight. I noticed today he is really listening to commands. "Sit!, No! Down." He was very responsive, so that is great. I decided to take Buster into Fish Creek Park because we have never gone down there before. He seems to really enjoy himself. Buster loves the snow just like his older brother. Many times, I would be on the path and he would be in the snow bank. The air was still cold when we went for our walk today, but Buster didn’t mind. I like watching a puppy turn into a dog; it is interesting to watch them get their personality, and Buster has a great one. Enjoy your day Buster. 1 poop, 4 pees.

Hello Buster. Yes, you were really excited when Winger and I returned from our run, but you settled down so quickly. What a good boy!! I was hot after running, so didn't think I needed my gloves, but then I cooled down, so next time I will remember to take them. We were so lucky that the sun was out and the weather was beautiful. Everyone was out on the icy path. Lots of other dogs, runners, elderly walkers, kids and squirrels. Buster was a good lad and easier to control than I had anticipated. We walked in Fish Creek and along a trail that I had taken Winger earlier. Buster had his snow down. I wonder whether he could smell Winger's scent? Lots of things to keep him happy and entertained today. Dog business: 1 poop and 1 pee.

Well, Buster I am back, and you my friend have a ton of energy. It tooks us a moment to get organized, Buster likes to jump full weight on me, it was like I was in a wrestling match with this Golden to get his collar on. He final realized, we can’t go outside until we are suited up! Once we got outside, everything was great, Buster is a great walker! My poor iPhone is sick and died at the beginning of our walk. We headed towards Strides and back. I know that is 6 km from the Golden duo's house, so thought we would head that way. Buster is very well behaved around other dogs, and was happy as sweet potato pie to be outside. I can wait to run this little guy; between the two of them, I won’t have to use any energy.😅 Enjoy the weather and your time out of the crate. Your parents trust you now, so don’t ruin it! The scoop: 1 poop, 2 pees.

Hello handsome! I've been waiting all week to see my friend Buster again.😊 I wasn't exactly sure what he had planned for me today but apparently Buster decided that I needed to do some hill training.😳 I thought maybe we would just hit Nose Hill Park but when Michelle was explaining how to get there I clearly wasn't listening and 5K later we made it!😂 Oh well, the way back was all down hill, Buster (maybe me more than him) was pleased. Also on our way back my friend found himself a watering hole (with a tree in it) which we circled at least 5 (or 10) times. All good Buster it was getting warm out there. He would have gladly kept on going but his back leg was starting to bother him a bit, so home we headed. Well done Buster! Thanks for hanging with me this afternoon, and as usual the company was fantastic! 3 poos and 100 pees (lost count.... didn't count).

Good morning Buster! My friend is still limping so we went out on our quest today with no expectations of beating any Olympic records (as if we could). Buster and I ran, walked, stopped and sat for a while contemplating our next move. I really don't know where our heads were but we back tracked twice (I'll call those senior moments... no offence). So Buster needed to collect his thoughts again. My friend even got himself a bone to carry for a while. Well, at least that's what I thought it was until he dropped it. 😳 It was a foot from a deer! (Gross!) So I guess it was a bone.....whatever. Anyways at that point we were close to home and Buster let me know that's where we were headed! Thanks for the interesting adventure Buster! 4 solid poos and 3 not so solid and as always way too many pees to remember.

Spring is in the air, there are gophers everywhere. So many gophers, so little time... One guess what Buster and I did today. 😳 My friend's leg still isn't 100% and I definitely think he's using it to his advantage. (I would too) 😈. First we scuttled over to "Gopher Town Mountain" (formerly known as Gopher Hill). Then we meandered through the 'hood with a few breaks I might add. I could see that Buster was longing for Gopher Town so back we went. He got in a fight with some landscape fabric trying to get a gopher of course. That was it. Buster was done! Maybe because he lost the fight? 😬 Oh Buster, you're one of a kind. Thanks for another entertaining escapade! Only 3 poos and he peed a lot.
DISTANCE: 6.28 km DURATION: 1:02:59
Hello handsome! I'm talking about my friend Buster of course.😊 Unfortunately he still has a bum leg so we went on a "Great Canadian Sniff About" this morning. It was Mr. Limpy's (😜) choice today ( route, pace , etc...) and needless to say he was very pleased. I don't think his tail stopped wagging the whole time we were out perusing the 'hood. In between our many stop and sniffs (and there were many) I'm pretty sure Buster found himself some gross little snacks😳. To my surprise my friend also took the longer trail home, but, when he's done, he's DONE! Straight to the the truck for a treat. Well done Buster! Thanks for the fantastic company as always. 5 poos and 100 pees (you better hydrate!)
DISTANCE: 8.2 km DURATION: 1:12:05
Buster! Hi, how are you today? When I showed up my friend was still enjoying his breakfast so clearly we weren't going anywhere until he was done.😬 We hit the trails and my friend dropped about 3 pounds in the first 5 minutes😳 (I wish it was that easy), Anyways, Buster and I trotted along taking it all in and then he decided it was time for a little rolling, snacking and hanging out. I could see we were on Buster's time today so I sat beside him and waited until he was ready to resume. Eventually Buster realized that I wasn't going to give in and we proceeded forward. Everything was good; my friend even picked up the pace! (Only because we were on the home stretch) and then poor Buster pulled his leg. Even though my friend was limping, he still wanted to go catch gophers 😂. Sorry Buster to the couch for you! I stayed with my buddy until I got in contact with his human mom. Buster had 4 giant poos and several pees. Hope you feel better soon Buster!
DISTANCE: 7.26 km DURATION: 1:00:38
Happy Tuesday Buster! My friend was bouncing up and down all excited for a TREAT!😁 I decided on my way over this morning I was going to let Buster choose our route today (like I have a choice!) Yes folks we did a back alley tour, a favourite path my friend likes to take every chance he gets. Lots of garbage cans to pee on I guess. 😬 Then we hit a more scenic trail (for me) and Buster decided it was time to stop, drop and roll and roll and roll and rest! 😂 Do what you gotta do my friend. After that little break it was time to head back. Thanks for another fantastic run Buster! 4 Buster sized poos and 2 squirts, about 50 sniff and pees, 11 yawns and approx 15 sneezes.
DISTANCE: 10.59 km DURATION: 1:25:45
Howdy Buster! My friend and I were pretty much on the same page today about the direction we headed this morning. To the river! And why not? The sun was shining, the cheeseburger birds were singing and oh ya let's not forget about those gophers.🙄😂 Buster and I were making fairly decent time until we had a standoff with two geese. 😳 We went from zero to warp speed in about a second (and that's about how long it lasted.) Continuing on, we made a fuel stop at the washrooms (water & snack) and that's when it all fell apart. Now we were doing the sniff and stroll....😁 Buster then said hello to a couple of ladies (he likes the ladies) out for a walk. Found himself a stinky watering hole to cool off in and home we went. Thanks for the laughs Buster! 2 poos (something's off with the universe) and the usual way too many pees to count.
DISTANCE: 7.02 km DURATION: 59:15
Hello Buster! My friend and I were in a much better mood today.😊 When I pulled up I noticed a rabbit sitting contentedly under the front steps of Buster's house and thought that's not going to last long... I was right! Full speed ahead! That was the first minute of our run and then Buster had his mind set on going across the street to what I like to call "Gopher Hill" OMG! Spring is here! Save yourselves gophers, cause here comes Buster! Yes there was a little more speed work. 😳 That's okay I know he dreams of catching one some day. I just hope I'm not there to witness it. After that we took a tour of the streets and yes one more time around "Gopher Hill" pond. Back across the street and straight on through to comfy couch land. Thanks for another great adventure Buster! 3 poos and several pees today.
DISTANCE: 7.19 km DURATION: 1:02:03
Hello? Buster? Haha, my friend was having himself a morning nap when I showed up and it took him a minute to realize what was happening. (I think that's an age thing)😜 Alright Buster, let's make the best of this weather system and head outside. I say this because my friend is not real fond of the wind and for that matter neither am I. There wasn't a lot happening in the 'hood today, Buster did his usual sniffing and peeing. Oh look! A plastic bag, let's go chase it! That entertained us for a while until we lost it.😂 Buster and I also tried our best to find some shelter from the wind but we had no such luck and we both were getting irritated. (Again I think it's age related 😬) Anyways we did what we had to do and headed on home! Thanks for the entertainment today Buster! I'll see you soon. (sooner than you think.) 7 poos (4 solid and 3 not so much) and let's just say he peed a lot.
