DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Bowie's Final Run with Me. My short but oh-so-sweet time with Dog Gone Running has sadly come to an end as I prepare to move out of Calgary, and my final run was with none other than the lovely Miss Bowie! It was 10 gorgeous degrees and sunny which meant I was running in a tank top in February. Pretty wild! That also meant lots of puddles, but Bows is a clever girl so she did her best to dodge the water when she could. We both still got pretty soggy despite our best efforts! With it being beautiful weather and also a Friday, this meant that there were also a huge number of other dogs out for walks. This had our poor girl extra stressed, so we did have to do a lot of weaving around and creatively moving out of the way. We did a really good towel dry when we got home and Bowie immediately flopped onto the floor ready for a nap! I guess all of the action exhausted her. Well, goodbye sweet girl! I miss your beautiful face already. Thank you for the happy memories and for sharing so many miles with me! Runner: Ashley

DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 6 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute What a beautiful day for a jog with Bowie! It felt like full-on spring today, which meant lots of puddles to jump in and squirrels to chase! When I arrived at the apartment, Bowie was very excited to see me, and then she promptly showed me to a very hilarious scene: the roomba had gotten stuck somehow under the kitchen step stool and was bobbing around frantically, unable to free itself. We corrected that issue and then slipped on the leash and off we went. We took a nice lap around two of the nearby ponds today, soaking up the sun. We politely passed a few other dogs with no issues. The melting snow had us both absolutely drenched near the end of our run, but the fun we had was well worth it! I made sure to towel dry Bowie extra well and she gave me the sweetest, most appreciative goodbye kisses. The Scoop: 7 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Ashley DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 1 hour DURATION: 8.5 km Good morning Bowie! What’s with the snow?? I sure was enjoying the mild, spring- like weather the last few days. I had to come a little early today as I have an appointment downtown at 1. but you didn’t seem to mind. You always greet me with kisses and excitement. We had an easy run through the neighbourhood today. We made a lot of fresh tracks as many people hadn’t shovelled their walks yet. You were full of energy and curiosity; stopping to smell lots of snow banks. After a good towel rub-down and a water top up, you settled onto the carpet for a nap. I hope you enjoyed our run as much as I did. See you Thursday! The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Hey Bow!! Long time no see. Still your silly ol’self! It was a lot colder out today that I thought it was. Mind you, my body has been in Mexico for the last week so I think any weather involving snow would’ve been a shock to my system.I thought we would hit the ridge today. With the fresh snowfall, we had to be sure on our feet As there is a lot of hidden ice. As we ran along the ridge, we had a surprise run-in with a coyote. You had a lot to say to that guy. Ha ha, that pretty much made him keep on trucking! Thanks for a lovely run Bowie and I’ll see you around the same time tomorrow! The Scoop: 4 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Nancy What a wonderful long weekend I had with this sweet girl. I love her even more now than I did when I got here; if that’s even possible! I arrived on Saturday around lunch-time and we immediately went for a nice long jog around the Inverness Pond. It was beautiful outside and there were plenty of people to see and things to sniff! We spent the rest of the day relaxing and reading and went on a few more short walks. When it was time for bed, Bowie spent the night split evenly between sleeping in her crate and snoozing in the living room. Sunday morning, I was awoken to a fluffy bundle sniffing my face! She hopped right up into bed to let me know she was ready to start the day. We went for a nice slow walk while the sun was coming up, and then Bowie enjoyed her breakfast while I drank my coffee. Shortly after, we went for a nice long walk in the sunshine, and Bowie enjoyed an afternoon nap while I went to the gym. We had dinner together, and then - guess what! - another walk - before settling in to watch some Netflix. Bowie was very intrigued at the sounds coming from my nature documentary! On Monday morning, Bowie woke me up by licking my toes that were sticking out over the edge of the bed. True story! She must have known how funny it was because her tail was wagging like crazy. We went for a short walk before coffee and breakfast and then Bowie did her nap circuit throughout the apartment while I got ready, packed, and tidied everything up for her mom's arrival home. We went out for our final walk just before I left, and the morning’s snow had finally stopped falling! Thanks for the fantastic weekend, Miss Bowie!
Pet Sitter: Ashley DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 5.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Happy GALentine’s Day! What a beautiful valentine I have today! It felt like full-on spring today with birds chirping and blue skies. We explored some different places today, and Bowie was a very happy lady indeed! At one point, she was up to her neck in fluffy snow; stoked out of her mind. The only time she got a little bit pup-set was when a chubby little Daschund escaped from his house and came running up to us off-leash. Once Bowie politely explained that she was not currently accepting any visitors, the little guy backed off and his people were able to catch him. Thanks for such a sweet valentine’s date, Bows! Can’t wait to hang with you all weekend! The Scoop: many pees, 2 poops. Runner: Ashley DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.5 kmDURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Happy Thursday Bowie, Whew.... it’s a nice one outside ..... if you like skating in running shoes. Hah! I was going to take us over the Deerfoot to the ridge today but I heard from a friend this morning that the pathway was super icy. We cruised through Elgin instead and found lots of nice clear sidewalks. That being said, I took my first wipeout of the winter and actually would pay someone to see video footage of that sexy bail. It was more of a ninja-dive-roll and I’m happy to report that I was back up and unscathed in seconds! We picked up the pace for the last few kilometres and had a good wipe-down of the paws when we got home. I’m off to Mexico on Saturday so have a good time with Ashley next week Bowie! The Scoop: Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes It was warm day out with Bowie. It was also my first ever run with him and I gotta tell ya I get lost in those dichromatic eyes (very cute). Bowie kept a steady pace today and we enjoyed a nice workout together. I came to run with Bowie straight from class feeling worn out and tired from a long week of studying and homework, but once I saw Bowie my mood instantly improved! Bowie was so friendly and very well behaved, he greeted me with a cuddle and and wag of the tail and we were off! I enjoyed taking him out and hope to do it again sometime soon. Until next time Bowie! The Scoop: 10 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Alex DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 17 minutes Welcome Back to the NW Bo Bo😍. I am very thankful you brought the warm weather with you too‼️ The mailman that we always meet had shorts on today. Wow, that is brave. Today’s run is a true ’Snelting’ Day. Snows-A-Melting means The Nose-is-A-Sniffing. At the 40 minute mark, I gave in and walked for a bit so Bowie could sniff everything. I lost track but I think we stopped close to 40 times to enjoy our ’Snelting’ Day🤣 All those tantalizing new smells coming to the surface. Pure intrigue, right Bowie.?! Always such a great time with this gal. See you Wednesday🐾 . The Scoop: tons of pees, 2 poos. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 2.4 km DURATION: 46 minutes Happy Wednesday Bowie! I was pretty shocked at the temperature this morning when I woke up. It’s really quite amazing. We are currently living in one of the coldest cities on the planet!??? You were SO happy to see me when I came in today. We bundled up and headed out on a little adventure with no plan. I was totally on my game today.... and forgot my running shoes. Good thing I have loads of practice running up and down sledding hills with my kids in my Sorels 🤣 Off we went, clumping along. Haha! When we got back, we both had frosty eyelashes. We took the stairs for a few rounds then fooled around with some treats in her Kong. I think I need to get my dog Betty one of these fabulous toys! See you tomorrow Bowie. The Scoop: 3 pees. Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 9.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 13 minutes Happy Tuesday Bowie! Well it was a lot colder outside than I thought it was.... so to break my chill and warm up, we took off like a shot! It was snowing lightly when we left and started to snow heavier as we got home. That made for slippery pathways!! I was pretty pumped to get out today and try out my new Altras. Oh they are like clouds on my feet ️(Torin 4 - Running Room online, $100!!) <— in case you need shoes Jessie! Despite the cold, it was very beautiful today. The weather is shifting however so we will need to bundle up over the next few days I think. As we headed towards home, you got playful again with your leash. I love seeing these little sparkly sides of your personality. See you tomorrow Bowie. The Scoop: 2 pees, 2 poos. Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes Feliz Navidad Bowie. With that salutation, Bowie gave me a kiss. After some time chatting & getting towels & treats ready for our post run, it was time to venture outside. I needed my Icebug running shoes today and I always leave them outside because of the cleats. When I opened the door Bowie peeked out and was hesitant to go outside. At first, I thought it may be because of my bright yellow running shoes. No, that was not it. Bowie, I promise we will have fun. Within 3 steps, Bowie was loving the snow. I think she did not want to leave the toasty comforts of home at first. We did loops of Dalhousie. On our first one, the spunky monkey came out in Bowie. She grab the leash and started to jump around. Oh, I see, it is play-time. At the half-way point, we stopped in at ’Casa Michelle’ to warm our paws up. Actual outside time 1 hour & 10 minutes. Henry (my husband) was home and very happy to meet Bowie. Time to head out for out second loop and finish with a bit more play-time in the park. Bowie was pretty focused on finding a bunny. She would go for full city blocks with her nose down in the snow; tracking the scent of a rabbit. Time to hit ’tu casa’. See you next week Bowie🐾. The Scoop: 7 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 9.48 km DURATION: 1 hour 7 minutes It was another great outing with the Bowster! There was a lot to stop and take photos of today. The snow looked like somebody sprayed glitter on it and we stuck to all places in the sun. I love this weather for running. It’s cold but comfortable and I could honestly run for hours when it’s like this outside. Bowie kept dipping her nose in the snow and eating it which was super cute. When we got home, I noticed she was out of water so I topped her up before I left. Enjoy your runs next week Bowie, up and grandma and grandpa's house! The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Hello Miss Bowie! Were we ever in for a treat today on our run. First, I have to mention you were extremely thirsty when I got to your place. I filled your bowl up and you almost drank the whole thing before we set off on our run. Today it felt like we were running on Mars. Not that I’ve been to Mars but.... you get what I mean. OK ...it was probably slightly warmer than what Mars would’ve been 🤣. Anyways, it was crazy and messy and actually pretty fun! At one point it looked like you took cover under a tree! We totalled our way along the really splashy sidewalks and eventually made it home again. You’re so silly when it’s time to get back in the elevator, You stand halfway in and halfway out and stare at me like, “ I don’t want to go home yet!!” I’ll see you Thursday Bowie, don’t worry! We’ll go get our run on again! The Scoop: 1 poo, 4 pees. Runner: Nancy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Hi Bowie! Happy Thursday! What a BEAUTIFUL day today has turned out to be. I was excited to get out with you today because I knew we would hit the mileage I needed for my last run before my 50km Ultra on Saturday. We made several stops to admire the fall colours and even stumbled on the Acropolis of Elgin......? Odd to come across that weird landscape on our run hahah 🤣. I snapped a GORGEOUS photo of Bowie for her Mom today❤️ Enjoy your nap this afternoon - you earned it. The Scoop: 3 pees. Runner: Nancy |
