![]() DISTANCE: 9.70 km . DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes What a lovely afternoon for a winter run. Bouy was as excited as usual for our adventure. I made sure to wear my most grippy trail running shoes for our run today. It’s still very slick out on the sidewalks so we stuck to main roads so to hit lots of pavement. At one point, we crossed a big field on terrain that looked much like how I would imagine the moon……. As we were running, I was thinking to myself “How does Bouy know where he wants to leave his scent…when he’s panting through his mouth for our entire run?” He sure has no problem leaving his scent anywhere….Oh the things you think about while running…We spent a few minutes searching through a bush for a squirrel that was hiding out in there. Bouy would not give up on finding the furry little guy …eventually I got him going again, only to capture what is perhaps my best photo of him yet: Shifty eyes….floppy tongue. Pure Gold. Have a great rest of your week. It looks like we are in for some warmer temperatures next week. Bouy’s Scoop: Lots of pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy

![]() DISTANCE: 10.42 km . DURATION: 1 hour 9 minutes Hi Bouy! I have run in much colder temperatures but for some reason today just felt super CHILLY! It was really slick on the sidewalks too so we took it a little slower than our usual pace. We headed down to Fish Creek, taking a familiar route but in reverse. I guess I missed the memo to wear skates today. It was pretty quiet in the park and we only saw one other person walking their dog in the 10K that we ran! Bouy will be ready for a nap after today’s run . See you Wednesday Bouy 😃 Bouy’s Scoop: 1 poop, several pees. Runner: Nancy DISTANCE: 10.37 km. DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes
Happy New Year Bouy! It was great to see you bouncing around today when I got to your house. We set off in the sunshine towards Fish Creek. I had totally over-dressed for the run but thankfully the wind picked up and kept me from overheating. We came across a group of three deer today while running along the river. At first, they ran away from us…then started running towards us. Then they all split up and one deer barrelled down the riverbank and leaped into the river! I couldn’t believe my eyes. We watched him swim across the river and bound off into the trees. It was very weird and I can’t figured out why they were so spooked by us. The rest of our run was beautiful on snowy trails through the park. I think both of us were feeling a little tired as we headed up the big hill back to Bouy’s house. Any ice that was on the sidewalks had turned to slush and both Bouy and I were a sloppy mess when we finished our run. Have a great nap this afternoon Bouy. I think I might do the same! Bouy’s Scoop: 1 poop, several pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.80 km . DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Another happy dog waiting to get his run on today. Today, we headed out of McKenzie Lake and over into McKenzie Towne. I had some letters to mail and wanted to be sure they went out today so we went straight for the actual Post Office. Bouy was very intrigued by the traffic zooming below us on the Deerfoot overpass and slowed right down as we crossed the bridge. I noticed he was shaking his head a lot on our run today and was running with his head tilted to the left. Maybe Bouy's dad could check in his ears tonight for any redness or take note if one of his ears is bothering him. We headed into Elgin and toured around the brownstone houses before we headed back over into McKenzie Lake. When we were almost home, Bouy was startled by a fluttering Canadian flag. Silly boy! We had to go through the snow and off the sidewalk to walk past the house. We made it home in just over an hour with only one near-wipe-out on this sunny slippery day! Bouy’s Scoop: 2 poops, lots of pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.02 km . DURATION: 58 minutes Today as I approached Bouy’s house, he was barking and jumping around at the front window; so excited for my arrival😊. He knew what we were about to do and his toenails were a ’tappin’ on the hardwood floor. We set off for Cranston today. The sun was warm and there was hardly any ice on the sidewalks; which is great for me when running strong boy Bouy. There was a lot to sniff and mark as we cruised through the neighbourhood. We had a brief encounter with a big striped house cat and Bouy whined as we worked our way past the cat. He so badly wanted to chase it! Bouy is consistently running on my right side now and rarely crossing in front of me. Between eating snow and sniffing everything, he worked on maintaining a bit of slack in his leash while we ran. I love running on these Chinook days. See you on Wednesday for another sunny run Bouy. Bouy's Scoop: loads of pees, 1 big poop. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.27 km . DURATION: 59 minutes Another sunny run with Bouy today. As usual, he was full of energy and ready to rock. We headed around the lake and ran along the ridge above Fish Creek. We saw a big blow-up Santa that spooked Bouy and made the hair on his back stand up! He was all about eating snow today and running on the top snowbanks again so I guess this is his new thing 🤣. We saw a beautiful pheasant fly in front of us (which got his attention for a millisecond...) We had a fun run today and hopefully, next week my legs will feel better so we can pick the pace again. Bouy's Scoop: lots of pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy DISTANCE: 10.70 km . DURATION: 1 hour 7 minutes
Happy Sunny Monday Bouy Wow, you were full to the brim with energy today. Thankfully, the sun was out and melted the ice on the pathways so we were hot to trot 🤣. You were into running on the tops of snowbanks today which was a first. Anytime you saw a snowbank, you wanted to be up on it! We ran through Fish Creek and stopped for a snow snack several times. It was so warm today that I had to stop and take my coat off to stay comfortable! I love a good Calgary Chinook ! We ran past a sign in the snow that made me smile. We sure had a wonderful run. See you Wednesday Bouy. Bouy's Scoop: 2 poops, lots of pees. Runner: Nancy DISTANCE: 9.03 km . DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute
Hey Buddy Bouy! Off we go again on crisp winter's day! I had an errand to run (literally)....... So we set off with a birthday card in hand. As we headed down into Fish Creek, we heard some really weird bird calls. We stopped to find where it was coming from and discovered two bald eagles perched on the top of two Hydro poles! A passerby shared his bird knowledge with us and apparently these eagles are great snipers at taking out the ducks from edge of the Bow River! We made our birthday card delivery and I had a good chuckle at my friend's lawn decorations. It started to snow towards the end of our run and I could tell you were getting thirsty. You’re eating tons of snow as we got to your house. Have a great rest of your week Bouy! The Scoop: lots of pees, 2 poops. Runner: Nancy DISTANCE: 10.25 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes
Happy Monday Bouy Today was a slog of a run! So much snow on so many paths... and under that snow was ice! The amount of strength and energy you have Bouy, I have no doubt you could pull Santa’s sleigh all by yourself. We slip-slided around until we hit Fish Creek where we enjoyed another new route today. Thankfully, many of the city pathways were cleared of snow. I captured a few photos of you with your tongue sticking out 🤷♀️ and another funny one of you showing off how flexible your legs are 🤣. Overall, we had a pretty uneventful and enjoyable run in the winter sun. See you later this week buddy! Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.89 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Another beautiful run with Bouy today. He was super excited to get going and anytime we had to stop to and wait to cross a road he was vibrating with energy! We worked on some some manners at major intersections by sitting while we waited for the light to change. He whined while he sat there because he was just too excited to get running again! We checked out the river but he was not very interested in dipping his toes in that cold water. It sure was a beautiful day for photos! At one point we got all tangled up together in the leash and I had a good laugh... (see photo). As we headed home, we had to climb a big hill and I am pretty sure that effort emptied his tank as he ran right up my hip the rest of the way home. See you next week big buddy! Bouy's Scoop: lots of pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.48 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Hi Bouy! I got another happy hello from this dude today. I borrowed a waist leash from my friend and WOW what a great way to run with you. Today was a tough run because there was so much snow on the trails. Once we got off the cleared sidewalks, it was like we were running in powdered sugar. It was hard to keep up a consistent pace.... but that’s OK because we were stopping a lot for your super sniffer to do it’s thing anyway 🤣. We saw a fair bit of wildlife today including a deer and her baby, A pheasant also spooked us in the bush. We also ran past a whole bunch of ducks that were making quite the racket. We still managed. 9.5km run so enjoy your nap this afternoon Bouy; you earned it! Bouy's Scoop: so many pees, 1 poop. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 12.26 km DURATION: 1:04:39 Such an exciting day to run with Bouy! I was in the mood for a nice, longer run so off we went towards Fish Creek. The first part of our run was almost like skating. It was so slippery on the sidewalks that we ran across people’s lawns just to stay upright! Finally, we got on some trails and things were much better. Bouy, you are a hard-core sprinter when we start out. Thankfully, you get tired pretty quick and by kilometre 3, we are just cruising along nicely! We explored some new routes. I have run in Fish Creek for over 10 years and discovered a new pathway near Sikome Lake today. The geese are out like crazy too and that caught our attention for a few minutes. Then, Bouy decided he needed to eat all the snow before he could continue. We were workin' hard!! Another great run with you Bouy. See you next week. Bouy's Scoop: 2 poops, several pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.23 km. DURATION: 1:01:44 Happy Monday Bouy! We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day today. You were so excited when I got to the house .....singing some happy whines .... practically tap dancing on the floor. It was awesome. We had a new route today ..... I knew the mountains would look beautiful so we ran along the ridge. At one point, we stopped to watch a massive flock of geese fly over us . They were so loud, they made your ears perk right up. It was a bit of a messy run today ....lots of water and mucky spots so I gave you a good paw cleaning when we got back to the house. You should be a tired boy after that run. See you later this week! Bouy's Scoop: 1 poop, lots of pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 10.46 km DURATION: 1:08:49 It had been a week since I last saw you, Bouy and by the greeting I got at the door today.... I think you thought I was never coming back to run you! You were so happy😀! The sidewalks were super slippery this morning and when you’ve got a super sniffer like Buoy to run, it can get a little wild straight out of the gates . I managed to stay on my feet on the ice until Bouy settled into a good pace. We hit Fish Creek, dipped his toes in the river, ate some snow snacks, and watched some ducks in the river. There were a lot of dogs out today and Bouy kept to himself every time we passed any dog friends. We came in at just over 10km today. Thanks for another great run big guy! Bouy's Scoop: one 💩 and multiple pees. Runner: Nancy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.58 km DURATION: 59:37 It was a beautiful day for a run. Sunny, crisp, and hardly any wind. I realized today I need to hang up my current running shoes and pull out my trail shoes for extra traction. Buoy was so excited to see me today! He was a very busy sniffer and we worked a lot on listening to the command "heel." We ran along the ridge in the sunshine and there were a lot of dogs out for walks. There was a little slipping and sliding around but mostly it was Bouy marking his territory on a new route. By the time we hit the 7km mark, Bouy had no more territory juice so it was smooth sailing all the way home. Thank for a great run Bouy. Bouy's Scoop: 2 poops, 57 pees (yes I counted today).
