DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.94 km DURATION: 63 minutes Today was the battle of the wind! It was breezy along the river today so depending on the way we caught it, it either helped tremendously or felt like running against a wall! Bentley again was enjoying the smells in the grass, and along the river, and watching the ducks and geese. We explored a new area overlooking the city skyline and got some beautiful views as a result. Bentley and I sure have explored the city of Calgary so far in our adventures of running, that's why I love running the most. It is fun seeing areas you might not see from a car! No doggy business to report. Runner: Anna

DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.85 km DURATION: 63 minutes Go FLAMES Go!! Today we had to take a photo with the Saddledome in the backdrop after yesterday's big win! Woohoo! What a beautiful morning! It was the first warm, warm day for a run. It was actually a t-shirt running day. We may have finally moved past the sweater and jacket running weather. Yahoo! Bentley did really well today. He was leading most of the way on today's run so he was full of spunk. It's always a fun run when both of us are feeling energetic and it makes it an easy run. Both of us definitely got our boost of Vitamin D today and we aren't complaining about that! No doggy business to report. Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.23 km DURATION: 66 minutes Today, Bentley and I went on another route as I picked up Bentley from his doggy day care location. He was happy to see me! He ran towards me and put his feet up on my lap so I knew he was excited and amped up for his run today! And he proved to be. Our route was dictated by the ever protective Canadian geese as they are looking out for their little ones. So we changed our route a few times as I'm not a big fan of them and I don't think Bentley is either! We found a peaceful route by the river today. There was not a single bit of wind, which rarely happens so we made sure to enjoy our run and that we did! The Scoop: 0 pee, 0 poops. Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today, I broke Bentley out of his doggy daycare to run with me. I thought he would be tired from playing with his pals at the daycare but he definitely had energy to burn. He would do intervals where he would sprint for a few yards and then go back to his steady pace. We saw people fly fishing in the river which looked so peaceful Bentley also chased some geese away (see photo). The other excitement was all the noise from street cleaners sweeping up the gravel. No doggy business to report. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.2 km DURATION: 1 hour Where oh where is Bentley? It turn out he was playing with his friends at daycare. As parking is not so great around that area, I ran there and back so I got in 12.5 km and made sure to give Bentley his full hour so he did 9K. It is my last run this week and I am off to Vancouver to watch my son do his first marathon so I felt inspired and I think Bentley felt that way too. I have not see this speedy fella in awhile so it was nice to hit the river pathway with him. The gorgeous weather was also a big bonus! No doggy business to report! Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.24 km DURATION: 63 minutes The sun came out today and so did the people. Bentley had a lot of energy this morning and it must have showed because he had quite a few comments by people as we passed them. Many of them "awwing" or saying "how cute is he" as he sprinted by. It brought a smile to their faces and to mine. Bentley is one cute fella! His energy was high as we found a new way down to Rideau Park area by some stairs. I know he was feeling it today because he leaped off the last few steps on each flight. Haha! I had to slow him down a little. Good work Bentley! The Scoop: 1 poop, 0 pees. Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8K DURATION: 1 hour Today was snowy and wet! Maybe it would have been a good day to take the scooter Bentley found at the park (1st photo)! Haha! Bentley loves to run too much but he sure found that scooter interesting to sniff. Halfway through our run, the snow almost changed to small hail and it was snowing all around us. It almost reminded me of being inside a snow globe. It was quite the sight. Like I said, we ended up being quite wet but nothing can stop us from enjoying our run! Thanks Bentley for getting me out this morning. The Scoop: 1 poop, 0 pee. Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE; 8.7 km DURATION; 1 hour 2 minutes Today, I got to break Bentley out of daycare for a run in the beautiful sun. Because we were so close to the pathway, we got to go a new route that included going past The Stampede Grounds. There were schoolchildren playing Frisbee and soccer on the field and Bentley was very keen to join their team. The kids were also telling us how cute Bentley is. We just continued our run and made it to the paintbrush sculpture before heading back. I wonder if Bentley was telling his doggy pals about his dope run (see photo). No doggy business to report. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10K DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today, I got to do a last minute sub and run Bentley first thing in the morning. We both were on a mission to get 10K done and dusted. I knew today would be the day to get our longest distance to date and my Strava showed over 10K. The run started with the song "Blinded by the Light" in my head because the sun was shining right in our eyes. We then got treated to a symphony by the geese. Bentley had some good speed with seeing bikes passing by as well as a bunny hopping past us. I love the last action photo. Great job for athletic Bentley! The Scoop: 1 poop, 1 pee. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.6 km DURATION: 1 hour Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Today's run was focused on pointing out and taking photos with anything green we saw. We had to celebrate somehow. Given spring hasn't hit yet, there wasn't much greenery around but we did seem to find a few things of green colour. Not enough green, and not enough exciting objects that were green but we tried our best. We didn't find a pot of gold either but we did enjoy the beautiful day, doing what we do best- running!! The Scoop: 1 poop and 0 pees, Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 9 minutes Bentley was my first run since getting my tattoo so I was on a mission to go the distance with him and not sweat. This meant that once he felt the need for speed, I wrapped my jacket around my waist and braced the cold. We started out on the city streets towards Mission and went past a few dog friendly places offering treats inside. We did forgo those but continued our run towards the Stampede Grounds, I tried to get a good photo with Bentley in the Calgary skyline backdrop but he is quite small so I did not get the angle. No worries, I got a good shot of him with the parrot mural. As always, I love Fridays with Bentley. No scoop to report. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 17 minutes Bentley and I edged closer to Ryan and his running record of 10K. Today's run them was Purple Passion. Bentley was wearing his new purple Martingale collar with wizards on it. I decided to take photos of all things purple including purple donuts, purple flowers (they were next to the wreath photo but there was a dog close by so we moved over to the side), purple graffiti and of course, me in my purple jacket with my purple leash. We also ran by the Purple Perk coffee shop. Purple is the colour of royalty and Bentley ran like a king today. Great job! The Scoop: nothing to report. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 6.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 13 minutes BENTLEY!! This guy is one of my favourite nuggets! I was so excited to run with Bentley again. But he was not in the mood for a run this morning. So we hung out and chatted about the finer points of grilled cheese and running and after a bit he joined me running. We had a really great run, and tackled the stairs again. We did rest on a couple of the risers as there are so many stairs!! Thanks for spending time with me Bentley! ❤️ The Scoop: 1 poop, no pees. Runner: Michelle W. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 20 minutes Bentley has been a lucky dog lately as he once again got to have two runners for the price of one. Prospective Runner Stephanie joined me on this balmy day. Bentley does such a great job showing interested runners the joy of running dogs. He defies all expectations. The warmer than expected temps meant that it was messier than normal. We stopped twice to give Bentley a little snow bath to get some of the dirt off his underbelly. I think he even enjoyed the cool snow as he was getting a good workout. He showed his appreciation with a kiss or two. I think Stephanie was pretty impressed with his fitness level. I am eager to see if I can beat his distance record with DGR Runner Ryan. The Scoop: nothing to report. Runner: Ruth and Stephanie DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 1 hour Another day, another run. Today's theme was chasing Canadian Geese as they flew alongside the Elbow River! There was quite a few of them, at different spots along our run so we were moving fast! At one point, there must have been at least 20 geese sitting on the water getting ready to take off. We covered a good amount of distance today as a result and it sure felt good to get those legs pumping after the weekend. Nothing better than getting outside, enjoying the fresh air, and the peacefulness running brings! The Scoop: 1 poop, 0 pee. Runner: Anna |
