DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.4 km DURATION: 1 hour The run with Arcee was fantastic! We had a really good consistent pace and only had to stop for a couple pees and water breaks. We got some good view of the Calgary Marathon and may have had our photo taken by the professional race photographers. The weather was superb. Couldn’t ask for a better run! The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops. Runner: Noah DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute A lunchtime run to beat the Wednesday doldrums! Arcee is an easy, fun dog to run. She knows where she wants to go and focuses on the run. Although, we both did get a bit distracted by a bunch of geese practicing water landings. How could we not, they are loud and huge! We ran along the river path, stopped for a bunch of photos with poppies along Memorial Drive and had a quick dip in the river. An absolutely perfect lunch run! The Scoop: lots of pees. Runner: Michelle W. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute And we are off! Arcee is a speedy little sweetheart! She knew exactly where she wanted to go and led the way at speed. We crossed the bridge over Memorial and headed west along the river. We saw a goose fly into a cyclist (that was something... no one was hurt), chased a couple of very playful butterflies, went for a splash in the river and took a selfie in front of a yard card; all before the clouds drifted in. To be honest I’m not sure who was running who today, I suspect it was Arcee running me! She is a great listener, stuck to the correct side of the path and made for a great running buddy! The Scoop: 2 pees, no poops. Runner: Kathleen DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 1 hour I was super excited to run with Arcee this weekend. She’s such a sweet girl! I almost forgot how speedy she is, but was reminded very quickly. She led us through her neighbourhood and we found ourselves in a green space where we sprinted and played in the snow. Arcee listens very well and is attentive when given instructions (truly a dream dog!). We encountered many other pups along our route - some were friendly and some not so much. Regardless, she kept her focus and didn’t break stride. Although she didn’t understand why I took so many photos of her (she wanted to keep running, of course...), Arcee always waited patiently for her reward. I hope to see her again soon! The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops. Runner: Lucia DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8 km DURATION: 1 hour Mum informed me that Arcee was a flat dog all last night, but this morning she was totally recharged and ready for another adventure. We went the opposite route along the river and decided to go up in the hills of the Douglas Fir Trail. Arcee was a bit hesitant because it was far from river stops but luckily I knew there were little streams along the way. We climbed some serious elevation and got a good view of the city. Then we sprinted down and took a long soak in the river. We ran back home along the path with many cool off stops. Her leash may have a sloth on it but Arcee is far from it. Had such a good time pooping this pup out again hope to run her in the future. No scoop to report. Runner: Tara DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 11 km DURATION: 1 hour 32 minutes Hello Arcee! What a treat it was to have a date with this pup on such a lovely Saturday evening! We went on a wonderful run along the river. Like me, Arcee starts out sprinting and then eventually we both tired out to a comfortable jog. Arcee preferred to be as close to the river as possible and would let me know of any path that led us down for a dip. We took about 6 river stops where she would take a drink and lay in the water to cool down. Then without a thought, she was back running again! It was such a nice evening that we decided to go a bit over the time (with mom's permission), and got to see a beautiful sunset. We were pooped when we got close to home and walked the last bit so she had some time to do her business. So excited to see her tomorrow for our next adventure. She had many poops and one pee and all the pets. Runner: Tara DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.6 m DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes My first run with Arcee and she was a delight! It was quite slick on the sidewalks, but we made do.. Arcee loved the snow and spent her breaks burying her nose in the snow. I hope I get to run with her again soon! The Scoop: a few pees. Runner: Lucia DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Sunday Funday Run Day! Well, what a fun day to meet and get out with Arcee. We had a smooth as butter run today taking in some of the sights and enjoying the fresh air. She even helped me earn back my “full Calgarian” card by finally going across the Peace Bridge with a selfie to prove it. Thank you Arcee. I had a lot fun and I hope to run with you again another time. The Scoop: 2 pees only. Runner: Scott ![]() DISTANCE: 10.33 km DURATION: 51 minutes Arcee is definitely the fastest dog run I have run in awhile. We started off at a good 4:35 km pace, then settled into a 5:05 pace. The weather was warm, but not hot, which was pretty conducive to our nice pace. We ran past a man holding a bird on the path. Unfortunately, I do not know my birds, so I'll just say that it looked like a Gray Parrot. We made it to Eau Claire and back and caught some music coming off of Prince's Island. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. 1 pee, 0 poops. Runner: Noah ![]() DISTANCE:10.09 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute It was so lovely to meet Arcee today! Wow, is she fast! We had a great run along the river. It was such a nice Saturday afternoon for a run. We soaked up the sunshine on our way out and the storm clouds chased us back home. Arcee wanted to run along the paved path the whole time with none of this running on the grass nonsense! She did great cruising past many people and many dogs! We made it all the way to Edworthy Park where there were musicians playing music for all the people in the park. Great vibes and a fun run with Arcee!! The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Alison ![]() DISTANCE: 5.08 km DURATION: 29 minutes It is always fun meeting a new DGR dog; especially one as athletic as German Shepherd X Arcee. Arcee's family are mountain bikers so it was fun to go along the pathway system and watch Arcee pick up the pace when she saw a bike. We also saw lots of road cyclists, a cool bullet car, and a recumbent bike. The geese and their growing goslings also intrigued Arcee. Well, I easily see a 10K in your upcoming hour-long runs. Welcome to the team! The Scoop: 0 poops, 2 pees. I love the long Tongue's Out Thursday photo! Runner: Ruth |
