DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.8 km DURATION: 2 hours Good Morning puppies! Can we say summer has finally arrived? Really? It was a gorgeous day. I think Conor is missing his walk.. First, he was at the door, ready to go this morning. When i dropped him off, he didn’t go hide per usual. He stayed by the door.. looking at us. Are we leaving him behind? Conor, you need to stay home when is too hot outside! The walk went well with Conor and Leia. Then, Leia went on for a second outing. The main thing with Conor being home is that Leia can enjoy some running so she was all happy! Both went for a dip in the water. The Scoop 2 poops and 3 pees for Conor. Leia had 1 poop and 3 pees. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes It definitely was a Tongues-out Tuesday on a Monday with Miss Kahlua today. I came a bit earlier as I knew it would be hot and the Concierge takes her lunch at 12:30 so I am always trying to dash back. Who needs that stress? We headed along the river away from downtown and it was quite peaceful. The only other creatures were the geese with their now teenaged goslings. The river is still pretty fast so we did not stop for a drink so I sought shade when possible. Thanks for the lovely stroll Lulu. The Scoop: 1 poop, 2-3 pees. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.7 km DURATION: 1 hour It was kind of a happy/sad walk with the girls today. Happy because I got to see these two lovely pups, but sad because it was my last adventure with them. It was a hot morning, so we did our best to find shade and I wasn’t too focused on getting a lot of distance in. I tried to get a nice picture of both girls sitting together, but I had to be quick because Mira and Nova are always on the move. I got a quick picture of them sitting, but when I tried to squat to get a better angle they got up and started to move again. Well, we tried. When we got back home, I gave them some pets before they went to grab a drink of water. Great job today Mira and Nova! The Scoop: 4 pees 1 poop (Mira) and 1 pee only (Nova). Runner: Ryan ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 8 minutes Happy Sunday Gibbons and Toki! The girls just got back from a summer vacation and were itching to get back out into the neighbourhood. The sun was shining bright in the sky as Gibbons, Toki and I made our way to the main drag. The neighbourhood was having their Stampede Breakfast at the community hall today. The girls were thrilled as we approached the petting zoo and saw goats, sheep and pigs on the other side of the fence. After a quick pit stop to see the animals, we continued on the main drag. We completed a big loop along some quiet roads near the climbing centre. We made a few pit stops in the shade for gulps of water and of course some treats. We took it easy for the last 15 minutes, walking home and enjoying the cool breeze. The Scoop: 0 poops, 3 pees for Gibbons. 0 poops, 1 pee for Toki. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.6 km DURATION: 2 hours 6 minutes Good Morning puppies! It will be a hot one today. Conor joined the party for the first hour. It was perfect as the weather wasn’t hot at all. All went well and the kiddos were happy to go for the walk and get some lake time together. Then Conor was dropped off at home after an hour. Leia went on for Round # 2 She was happy to get a date with Kop. To he honest, who wants to go out with your favourite boy and have to drag along your little brother? Yes, right.. nobody! The walk went well with a lot of lake time We got to see some babies loons who were so cute. The Scoop: 1 poop and 2 pees for Conor. Leia had 1 poop and 2 pees. Runner; Fab DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes You know it is summer when it is really hot out and the dogs are seeking shade and rolling in the grass. I had already done 2 other dog outings (total of 21.5 km) so it was nice to see old friends Jersey & Dodge and casually explore their hood. The other signs of summer included garage sales happening throughout the community and I did hear the ice cream truck bell. We did have one surprise when a big dog without a collar came out of nowhere and ran right up to Dodge. Dodge was such a good boy but I did scream at the dog. I wish I could have just screamed for ice cream. Well, it has been an adventure running dogs and these two pups are some of the best I have met. Dodge enjoyed his treat ball at home while I was taking selfies with Jersey. All the best! The Scoop: 1 poop for Jersey and pees for both. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.6 km DURATION: 2 hours 12 minutes Good Morning Conor and Leia. What a beautiful day for a walk! Since there were was lots of doggies out and about, we decided to go straight to our favourite trails in the forest. So, here's where the juicy part of the story started. As always, I am walking along with pooches on leash. Only Kop is free to roam around. As we came to a sharp corner, Kop stopped and his ears were way up. I expected a deer or something like this. However, I glanced up at a bunch of black and white tails. There were about six of them. It was mama skunk and her babies. We were on a single trail so Kop was close to them. He probably touched their tails; he was that close. My heart was going fast. As we retreated in a hurry, Mama Skunk decided to chase us over 100 meters. We were running for our lives, The Kiddos didn’t make it easy on me as they WANTED to meet those news “puppies." I had to drag them as Mama Skunk was closing in on us. Finally after a good stretch, no one was following us anymore. My heart was pounding so hard! What an adventure! The rest of the walk was clear of any events. Thank the lord!! The Scoop: 2 poops and 3 pees for Conor. Leia had 2 poops and 2 pees. Runner: Fab DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Today, there were clouds, wind and sunny breaks. Thankfully, we had no rain until I was back in the car. Thank you Kahlua for being the lucky charm. I will miss getting out with you rain or shine. We had a great last outing. The Scoop: 2 poops and 4 pees. Happy weekend! Runner: Meggie DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.3 km DURATION: 2 hours 2minutes Good Morning puppies! Okay, let me talk to Mother Nature. When I said Conor doesn't like heat that much, it doesn't mean that we asked you to dump rain on us everyday We agree that sunshine would be nice too. We took our favourite trail in the forest.. but I am not sure what happened since yesterday as it looks like a tornado went through it. There were so many trees down. Hmmm!! We couldn't believe our eyes. For those safety reasons, we didn’t came back the same way. The kiddos behaved very well. There was no skinny dipping this time around. It was too cold! The Scoop: 2 poops and 3 pees for Conor. Leia had 1 poop and 2 pees. Runner: Fab DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Is it rain or is it tears? Well, today was my final walk with Marley who I have known for several years so it may be tears. This outing was such a mix of the various routes I have joined him on throughout the years. He had had several runners but I have had my fair share of outings with this sweet boy; especially lately. I took a photo of him on the bench overlooking the reservoir which is a classic photo op from past runs. We went along the watershed, and then we sought cover from the rain through the green forested area behind the Lakeview houses. The rain gave way to wind and Marley's fur looked beautiful. He did his traditional grass rolls so there was not a dry spot on him. The run ended with the skies clearing for a brief moment of sunshine. This seemed so appropriate to capture our final run!. Much love to you and the family. I have enjoyed time with this gentle giant! The Scoop: 2 poops and several pees. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes It was quite a bit cooler on today's walk with Mira and Nova. We got a little wet from some light rain that came and went. We even went back to my car to grab my umbrella, but Nova was not a fan of the umbrella so I put it in my pocket (it’s one of the compact ones thankfully, so it was easy to carry around) and endured the rain. Luckily, it let up, and was just a sprinkle. The girls' paws and legs were pretty soaked by the end of our walk, so I gave the girls a quick towel down before saying goodbye. Great job today Mira and Nova! The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops (Mira) and 0 pees, 0 poops (Nova). Runner: Ryan When I got to Jersey & Dodge's, I found both pups napping. Jersey quickly perked up though,. She was woo wooing with excitement and Dodge went to work searching for the treats. After a fast lunch and some Frisbee, we headed out for a walk. It was a lovely warm day so we headed down to the park where the water was flowing across the path. Jersey really really enjoyed her cool dip. LOL! And even Dodge got his toes wet! We headed back for dinner and some chill time. After dinner, it was play-time in the yard, then some Netflix. We first got up at 6:45 a.m. and they went out for a pee. It seemed a bit early so we lounged until 8:30 a.m., had breakfast, and headed out for a walk at 10 a.m. When we returned home at 113:0 a.m., there was a big surprise and Dad was home early . It was such an exciting ending to a wonderful visit. The Doggy Business Report: many pees. Jersey pooped yesterday and Dodge pooped today.
Pet Sitter: Pat DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes Today's outing with Mowgli & Pippin reminded me of The Indy 500. First, there was a lot of speed out of the gate when I got Pippin out the door. We were trying to run as quickly as possible to avoid the impending storm. We did get a tad of hail as we went along the river pathway but that subsided pretty quickly. I also got photos by the lemonade stand and steel sculpture ( two o my fav spots). Pippin sure likes the water and kept steering me toward the river. When I went to get Mowgli it was a fast turnover of dogs with a quick towel dry, put on the harness, and get out the door. It was like a pit stop at the Indy 500. Mowgli also started out with high speeds but then settled into a gentler pace. It was great seeing these pups. Although, we did not see a rainbow, it felt like they were my rainbow at the end of the day. The Scoop: 1 poop and 2 pees each. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.3 km DURATION: 58 minutes Another stormy summer day in Calgary! We had to wait out the thunderstorm over the NW before hitting the trail. Almost as soon as the storm went by, we had beautiful sunny skies for the majority of the run. Huxley seemed happy to be out and about. We stopped quite a few times to find the perfect spot to poo, and after 20 minutes Huxley found his perfect patch of grass to do his business. There were lots of other happy pups on the trail, and as per usual, Huxley was friendly. The Scoop: many 💦, 1 💩. Runner: Brooke DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9K DURATION: 2 hours 38 minutes Today's blog is written by Yellow Lab Sully. I made a new friend today as DGR Runner Shemar took me out for the first time. I showed him how I like to roll in the grass. We walked around my neighbourhood for a long time. Wow, this is fun!!!! I think Shemar went past my house but he seemed to want to spend more time with me so we kept going. I get it as I am a fun boy to hang out with. The next thing I knew the skies were getting dark and it was raining. Shemar took me to a building to meet new friends and get out of the rain. They gave me some water. As I was looking out the window, I saw my old friend Ruth approach. Woo hoo! I got to ride in her car to my house. My regular dog runner Ryan also came for a visit. I guess everyone missed me. I usually go to doggy parties with my friend and pet sitter Michelle but today I went to a human party and everyone looked like they were so glad to see me. I am pretty loveable! The Scoop: I peed a lot. Runner: Shemar |
