DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 50 minutes I’m back Boyzzz. Not even a peep out of Kenny & Sully until I got to the door. Are you guys in a cookie coma or a turkey snooze trip? Of course, the King was first! He was more than ready to go the distance. Up the street 8 houses and back. Sully flew into the back seat. Off to get Aoife. These two were full of the hi-jinx, or as we, humans say “a sugar high”. Time to burn that energy. There is nothing like bounding through thigh-high snow at Nosehill to burn up the hi-jinx. Catch you Boyzzzz in 2021. The Doggy Business Report: Kenny had 2 pees. Sully had many pees, 1 poop. DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.5 km DURATION: 59 minutes A winter wonderland of a run today with my pal Emmy. A workout today and the holiday season is in the air. I was very excited to get going today on Christmas Eve as running around today with Emmy and seeing all of the holiday decorations always puts a smile on my face. There were not too many people out today and Emmy was very obedient. I think Emmy is starting to become a natural at these runs as I can tell she gets better every time I take her. I hope Emmy has a great holiday and I can’t wait to see her more in the new year. The Scoop: 2 pees. Runner: Alex DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 9 minutes This run with Lyla had a lot of Christmas symbols in it. First, I thought it was going to be really chilly out so I was bundled up in snow pants like Ralphie from a. Christmas Story. Boy, was I hot! Next, we had so much snow to run through that we did our best imitation of reindeers prancing. Instead of a partridge in a pear tree, we saw a huge eagle in a tree. In addition, we went to see bunnies. I am pretty sure the Velveteen Rabbit is a Christmas story. Lyla also magically found a stick in a snowbank so that was like getting an early Christmas gift. I even sang, "It's Beginning to look a lot Like Christmas." Lyla picked up her pace. My singing voice is not the best but we sure had fun together. It was wonderful ending the run with a visit with your mom. Have a lovely Christmas Eve Lyla. Love to you, Magpie and the family! The Scoop: 2 pees only. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.2 km DURATION: 59 minutes ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the town, not a creature was stirring, except for Buck and I running through the fresh snow this morning! Such a wonderful, jolly, start to the festive day! Every person we passed on the streets yelled Merry Christmas, and the decorations and lights were lit and bright! I know I was working hard to burn off all of the egg nog, and for Buck all of the Christmas treats! It has been so much fun running with Buck and getting to know his playful personality. Until next year my friend! Merry Christmas everyone! The Scoop: 0 poops, 1 pee. Runner: Kathleen DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes If anyone was watching us run today I'm sure we looked like Gumby with noodle arms and noodle legs in the deep snow. Haha. You can see that it was almost as high as Murphy's back in the first photo. We were stopped by a train so we decided to change plans and run on this side of the river....which lasted about 50ft when we realized the path wasn't cleared so we turned back. Thankfully, it was a short train and we were able to cross pretty quickly. Murphy wanted to stop and say hello to some passing dogs but with a bit of convincing (cookies) we got back into gear. He also was a great model for the reindeer antlers (more cookies!). It has been a real highlight of 2020 to get out and run Murphy. See you next year buddy! The Scoop: 1 poop, 2 pee. Runner: Jessica DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 8K DURATION: 1 hour 40 minutes A few snowflakes can't hold these Super Pups back❄️🐾. Mona, Huxley and I hit Calgary's NW with a bounce in our step. What a Winter Wonderland it was out today. The pond loop was up to my knees and over Mona’s belly.😁 The height of the snow did not matter to Huxley and Mona. If you are energetic pups playing with a friend, fun is to be had. These two bounded in the snow and had fun chasing each other. Merry Christmas to both Mona and Huxley’s humans. Excited to see you both in 2021. The Doggy Business Report: Mona had 1 poop and many pees. Huxley had 1 poop and lots of pees too.💕 Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 11.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 32 minutes What a pawsitively beautiful day for a run with Sir Avi! After yesterday's storm, I knew my friend was going to be in for a treat today. Most of the pathways on our route were nicely tamped down so that we could enjoy some speed work to offset Avi's play-time which included jumping in as many deep snowbanks as he could get into. It was a pup's delight out there today. Weather temp was really nice and Avi was feeling really social, giving lots of attention to pups along the way. He was in the holiday spirit and even gave me some kisses, too. Wishing you, your mom, dad and brother a nice holiday, and best wishes for a Happy New Year. The Scoop: 18 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Cheryl DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 3K DURATION: 53 minutes So today was interesting to say the least. My husband joined me this morning as the drive was the first difficult challenge. We took the pups out and tried to stick to the shovelled paths but most people were just starting this task. At some points the snow was up to our knees and thighs. Both pups were having fun but showing noticeable reactions to the snow, cold feet and shivering. We called it a day a little early for their safety. We did a through wipe-down and cuddle when we took them inside. The Scoop: Dodge had 1 pee, 0 poop, Jersey had 3 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Brenda DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 5.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Lyla and I were not snowed in today and we were both very happy about it! We enjoyed prancing through the deep fresh snow with a mix of cautious running on plowed sidewalks. Lyla frequently opted to dash through the snow overtaking the plowed and packed snow routes and getting the most of her afternoon outing. She stopped a few times to bury her head in the snow and keep her face fresh and frosty. She brought smiles to all others that were out in the snow and witnessed her raw joy. The sun even came out near the end of our run, making a great afternoon just perfect. The Scoop: 1 pee. Runner: Lauren DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes I found the key to taking nice pictures of Murphy - bribery with treats! I had homemade cookies that were the perfect bargaining tool for him to wear the elf hat I brought with me. We had been running at a good pace until he found a big log that he decided to bring with us. About half-way through our run, he wanted to lay down and take a break to chew on it but I was able to get him moving again thanks to the cookies. It was very icy on the path in one section so we had to take slow tiny baby steps. Thanks Murphy! The Scoop: 1 pee, 1 poo. Runner: Jessica DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 6K DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute We saw a MASSIVE crow today! She was sitting on the bridge railing and her feathers were all puffed up. She was basically spherical. It really made me laugh because I didn't see her until we were right up close. Other than the crow, this run was pretty uneventful. I'm happy that it's a bit warmer than it's been the last few weeks. It makes for a nicer run. I hope Conor and his family have a wonderful holiday break! See you in the new year, buddy! The Scoop: one poo, four pees. Runner: Eve DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 8K. DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes It was a great run this morning with Miss Lucy! Lucy was excited to get outside today and explore. We ran one of our favourite routes which included some nice hills. Lucy loves to sprint up hills. It was a quiet morning with not many people out, but lots of rabbit friends out and about. Lucy enjoyed lots of rolls in the grass and patches of snow. Lucy got lots of belly rubs today, and was loving life. The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poop. Happy Holidays! Runner: Dru DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9 km DURATION: 1 hour 52 minutes What a wonderful, windy adventure today before the snow falls tomorrow. I was greeted with a hug as soon as I walked in the door from Jersey. Dodge wasn’t far behind with his warm welcome. We took to the river paths and both enjoyed some off-leash time chasing some sticks and we definitely burnt off some energy. We proceeded to circle around McKenzie Lake back to the house. Both pups had smiles today. The Scoop: Dodge had 3 pees, 0 poop, Jersey had 4 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Brenda ![]() DISTANCE: 10.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 21 minutes It was a wonderful run today with Kali! Kali was happy to see me and ready to head out this afternoon. She was in a great mood and seemed a little more relaxed compared to last Saturday. Our pace was pretty steady the whole run. She was super cuddly and gave me lots of kisses. For our route, we ran through River Park and Kali was ecstatic to find so many sticks, and on cloud 9 when she found the biggest stick ever (a fallen tree branch). She tried to carry it with us, but soon realized it was too big to run with. Kali was very well behaved and a joy to run with today! The Scoop: 2 pees, 0 poop. Runner: Dru DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 56 minutes Charlie! I see your sporting a burr-free hairdo.....you look spectacular! Well my friend, let’s make this an adventure like no other as this is my last run of 2020. The best part is, that it’s with you!🥰 Charlie had a little more pep in his step today and as soon as he was free from the shackles that bound him to me, he was on the hunt for that special stick. It took a while but eventually he found the right one and it was a game of stick toss like no other. Two full kilometres of bending and tossing... it’s a good thing I’m still young (no comments) Sadly, the stick was lost and we moved along. Thanks for all that you have given me Charlie! You're a true friend and I appreciate it more than you know. 3 poos and many pees today. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! CHEERS! Runner: Tracy |
