Happy Halloween, Nell! This weather sure is spooky, isn't it!? Things seem a little more off on our run today a little scarier than usual, the gloomy fog, around the river, the mood was ideal for our Halloween outing. We raced around through East Village; I told Nell one of my favourite ghost stories about the kids under the zoo bridge. Legend has it; you can still hear kids laughing under the bridge even if you're sure no one is under there...DUN DUN DUN...Nell and I giggled and ran as fast as we could away from the haunted bridge. We barely stopped for photos as it inconveniently poured on us the whole time we were running, plus we were also worried that the ghosts roaming the streets of Calgary, the ones who wait for this exact day to come out and haunt people. If we stopped or even slowed down, they were going to get us, and we too would become ghosts for next year's Halloween! Luckily there were others on the paths with us; we can conquer the ghosts in numbers! Good Idea Nell! We finished our loop satisfied, and still alive! With that workout in, we are ready for some CANDY! I made sure I gave Nell, the little Devil, some extra treats today. Thanks for the run, girly! See you Friday! No scoop today.

I made it to Indy’s a little later than I usually try to. I was covering for a couple other runners earlier in the day so I saved Indy’s run for last. He has been great off-leash with me lately so I knew I could let him run around with some other dogs rather than have to cover all of the distance myself. Bexie and him definitely outran me today. There was a surprising number of dogs at the off-leash area, considering the cold rain was just getting started, and Bex and Indy were friendly with everyone. Bexie, in particular wanted to play with everyone and was running circles around everyone the entire time, which I haven’t seen her do at this level since Halloween day last year, funny enough. Must be something about the season that gets her going! I swear that no dog is capable of being scared of Indy when he runs up to them; he has a full helicopter tailspin going on the entire time! He is one of the friendliest, easy-going dogs I’ve ever met. See you next week Indy! The scoop: 4 pees, 1 poo.

Happy Halloween ladies! Trick or treating with dogs can be a little hit and miss. Juno F. is more conventional and the little doggie treats I brought were definitely a hit with her. Little Miss Juno N however found what SHE thought was a delicious treat - aka a decaying bird carcass - but I thought it was a bit of a nasty trick. Luckily, she eventually saw reason and decided to give it a pass. Another highlight of today's run was running into the canines of White Oak Crescent - which might be home to some of the cutest dogs of Wildwood (and maybe DGR's cutest runners - 😂). It was a quick but lively dog sniff and chat. I actually wished I had a selfie stick as my arms were not long enough to get all 5 dogs in the picture. Anyways - overall the run was definitely a treat for all of us. The scoop: 1 poop for each dog, and as usual lots of little pees.

Even though the forecast was calling for rain, it turned out to be a perfect, clear morning for a run. And who better to kick the day off with than my old pal Maverick! I just bought myself new running shoes so it was time for a long and steady run with the best running partner I know of to break them in! Nothing’s changed since last time I ran Mav. He is the only dog I never have to adjust the leash with. Once we get started, I put it around my arm and leave it there just about the entire time. He stays the perfect distance from me and the leash rarely pulls tight. It really is a luxury, running with Mav. I decided to head to the top of Signal Hill, through my old neighbourhood, and take a look at the house I lived in a couple years ago. I was shocked at how much different it looks already! Along the way I managed to spot a perfect Halloween themed advertisement for Dog Gone Running, although it is a tombstone which may send the wrong message... Maverick is a great representation of the amazing dogs we have here, so I was happy to get that picture with him! Thanks to who ever put up the decorations! Can’t wait to see you soon Maverick! The scoop: 3 pees, 1 poo.

This was my second run of the day so I was a bit tired, but the moment I walked through the door Mowgli was overflowing with excitement and instantly brought my energy up. I am a bit unfamiliar with the Inglewood area but we ended up finding ourselves on a quiet path along the river. Mowgli was a very consistent runner despite the few times he got a bit sidetracked by birds, squirrels or a good looking stick. We also got quite lucky in terms of weather as it started raining only 5-10 minutes before calling it a day. I am looking forward to running with Mowgli tomorrow as I have found a better planned route. The scoop: one poo and 3 pees

Good morning Reilly! Yes I see you're ready to run, as always. As I sat on the bench to switch my jacket for vest, she sat in front of me with such a look of expectation! It was the cutest thing! Maybe it's because she remembered I promised her a longer run today. So with that in mind I thought we should see how far into Silver Springs we could run. The thought today on my run was how some things can appear quite frightening but are actually harmless. This was the case for many front lawn decorations today. But the reverse can also be true. A squirrel prancing across your path might seem benign to most, but when on a dog run, it honestly makes my already fast beating heart race even more. Yes, it was the second time that Reilly looked quite pleased with herself as she chased a squirrel down a grassy slope at break neck speed, right into a tree. Thankfully no necks were broken, including the squirrel's. Phew! Well, a promise is a promise and I am a dog runner of her word, so we came close to 10K today. And at the end of our run, she went straight to the door, and into the house. Still looking quite pleased. As you should Reilly! Great run today! Scoop: 2 poops and many pees.

Molson and I had a fabulous Halloween outing this morning! I was delighted it was warmer than expected and just hope weather holds for the ghouls and goblins tonight. Lots of dogs out this morning so in addition to some exercise, Molson enjoyed playing with those we met along the way, including his pal Sasha. Of course we missed Roxy - hoping she’s able to join us on Friday. Sending her lots of love. Just a couple of pees today.

Hello Handsome! Loki was ready to party this morning! My friend had some energy to burn and was in an exceptionally good mood.😁 So after a little romp in the backyard we headed out on our journey. Loki started off as usual at a quick sprint to the end of the yard then a stop and sniff. But then something happened.... he started running, and some more running 😆 What’s happening Loki? You got your groove back!😂 There wasn’t a lot of peeps with their pooches out today so Loki got some extra free range time in and he was very pleased. Loki also partied with a cutie named Biscuit she was adorable I think Loki had a slight crush. A couple of refreshing dips in the creek and we headed on back to the abode Happy Halloween Loki !( like he cares) Thanks for a fabulous run this morning and have a fantastic holiday you will be missed! 1 poo and several pees today. Cheers!

Fancy seeing you again Gogol! Glad I could fill in for Jaime and pay you another visit! I was also glad that when I showed up to start the run the rain was still holding off. I expected to be soaking wet at this point in the day as I’d just come from another long run and the forecast was predicting rain all day. Gogol seemed to remember me right away. He stuck his head between my legs while I was changing and getting ready, as if trying to figure out what I was doing that was so important we couldn’t get started immediately! Alas we were off, down the apartment stairs where I thought Gogol might face plant- he takes the stairs so fast his feet barely keep up! Other than starting to chase a couple squirrels before a quick correction, Gogol was great the entire time and stayed right by my side with very little pulling. We ran into another Retriever that looked identical in every way except that it didn’t have as much white on its legs. Too bad I forgot to snap a pic! At one point Gogol grabbed a giant stick and carried it all the way to Roxboro Park where he met a few other dogs he got along well with! Sorry we didn’t go as far as last time Gogol, my legs were giving it everything they could! The scoop: 3 pees, no poo.

Its a spooktacular day for a run! Rumour has it that Scvarsity is a hotbed of mischief and mayhem. To ensure the safety of all the tiny ghouls and goblins out tonight we hit the road early to secure the area. If there's something weird, and it don't look good, who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters S&L! Sam tried on a few costumes to go undercover and then we did the mash, we did the monster mash! We went easy on the tricks today but maximized our treats. Even on his own street we witnessed the largest ghoul of them all. We made it back home and are proud to report that Scvarsity's mischief has been managed. What a run today-some might even call it a real THRILLER muahahaha. One poop and for security reasons Sam marked our whole route so we could find our way home if the witches tried to play tricks on us. 🎃

Today’s welcome was a bit different than the last couple of times. I walked in and Leo was laying on the couch. He stayed there until I took the leash out. Then after a couple stretches, he was ready to go. Maybe he wasn’t expecting me. I’ve realized that Leo lives in a very central area that I’m quite familiar with, so I’ve decided to go on a different route every run. Next time we’ll be going north instead of south like the last runs, likely along the river. Still no treats today, and I’m starting to think Leo is getting a bit fed up. Soon bud! Total of about 6 pees (one on someone’s Halloween decoration... not cool.) and no poos.

Another great run with the girls they are so awesome! We managed to beat the rain and headed up the hills. It was a bit slower today not their fault mine - there are a lot of hills! I love how we have a rhythm going now and we seem to set a lot of kms in. A few pees today by both and no poops.

Freckles it’s me again! I’m so lucky to get to hang with you this afternoon. 😊 Freckles and I perused the neighbourhood with ease, I’m getting use to her sprints in between the stop and sniffs. She’s such a cutie, she’ll always look up at me before she makes a move to see if I’m ok with it. Absolutely my friend as long as you're happy I’m happy! Freckles also tried to take me out into the middle of nowhere.... I’m wondering if she was trying to find the rest of the moose her and Tammy discovered the other day?!?? I forgot to say THANKS FOR THE PICTURE!🤢 Anyway after that we headed on back to our new friend Archie. Freckles is sure protective of her new brother she stared at us the whole time we were out in the backyard OR she was just waiting for her after-run treat! (I think that was it😬) Thanks for another brilliant run sunshine! Hope to see you again! 2 poos and approx 6 pees for Freckles; 3 pees for Archie today. Happy Halloween! Cheers!
(Note from Tammy: It wasn't a pretty picture so I left it out of my blog that day but had to share with Ruth and Tracy!!)

It is always amazing when a DGR dog returns for more exercise and guess, who's back? It is Vizsla Chester ( nickname Wee Bum). Tammy and I will be taking him our for pee breaks every weekday until he is ready for runs and settled into his new neighbourhood. We will also write periodic blogs. Today, I had to take some photos as I have not seen him looking so dapper (sporting his Fall sweater). When I arrived I was expecting high energy pup and what I got was groggy doggy. No fear, once we were outside checking out Pearce Estate Park, Chester's energy picked up and we even tried a bit of a run through the leaves. He will be a fantastic running dog soon! The scoop: 1 poo and 3 pees ( good thing he got out). Happy Halloween sweet Chester!

Happy Halloween, you devilishly handsome boys! I thought it was unusual that cat Theo (or was this Mishka?) was at the door greeting for me but soon Edgar and Oscar appeared with tails wagging. Before heading into the spooky forest (a.k.a.Fish Creek) with its twisted branches, crows and howling wind. lets check out some haunted houses in your hood. It definitely felt like someone was watching us (see photos). I used Prisma to recreate a Halloween art photo. Although we did not dress up in costumes today, I did get a big treat as I tested out my new running shoes on my run with the boys. As they say (in Boston), these shoes were wicked good! The run through the trails was eerily quiet yet peaceful and not much else to report. Last but not least, I did bring a few special doggy treats for Edgar and Oscar (it is Halloween after all). The scoop: nothing too scary - just 1 poo and 3 pees each.
