DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 36 minutes Oh, Huxley what a great greeting and hug.🥰 Today, it is back to basics, keeping things really simple and easy. It was just the Blonde Boyzz, that amused and charmed the people out in the NW today. These two social charmers (Huxley and Sully) get so much attention and compliments. I may have to start setting a time limit for each admirer. We stopped back at my house to have some water and take Sully back. Huxley walked in the door, had a good drink and is presently sleeping on the couch. Keeping things simple for sure. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop each for Huxley and Sully and many pees. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.5 km DURATION: 2 hours 18 minutes Well ladies, it officially here…. Today is our last run. It’s a little sad but let’s make this the best last adventure ever! The gals already had decided on what they wanted to do today and I had no say in the matter whatsoever! Truly, I didn’t! My friends wanted to go to the river today and apparently we were going on foot. Okay, but just remember what goes down has to come back up. So we headed down that long and arduous hill heading straight for the water and if my friends had it their way I’m quite certain we’d still be there. After a good chunk of time, Mona decided it was time to move along. I’m going to miss all my friends I’ve made over the years. You all have a special place in my heart and if you ever see me out and about don’t hesitate to stop and say hello as I will always have treats in my pocket. Thanks for an epic adventure today ladies! 2 poops for Reilly; 1 poop for Mona and many pees each. Cheers and peace out. Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Good times! Based on Willow's desire to travel further east last run, we traveled further east! We stayed along the river the entire way. We passed a yellow Lab that made eye contact with Willow both directions that urged her to say HELLO, but she was quickly and easily redirected. She can sure run… it seems like I can barely get hear to pant! Around the 35-minute mark, she decided to make our pet break a little longer by asking for belly rubs. How could I say no? On the way home as we entered the hood, she went on sniff alert, but we didn’t find any cats this time. The Scoop: MAYBE 1 pee during our first river break. She stopped me as we were leaving, and by the time I turned around, she was definitely smelling a plant, but it might have been peeing also. No poops! Runner: Brad I think I woke Mikki up when I picked him up this morning. Within 10 minutes in the vehicle, he was asleep. You must be celebrating the last week of summer, Mikki. The gang was all at my house today, Momma Marley, Sully, Aoife and Alcott. We mixed things up a bit today and Mikki went for his walk with Momma Marley. They are an evenly matched pair for walking. Not many pups out today, and when we did meet up with one, Mikki was pretty tired. It took just one piece of kibble to keep him settled. Momma Marley kept a keen eye on the situation so that all was okay. We had some outside playtime with the gang and enjoyed the perfect temperatures before the weather gods change their mind.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8K DURATION: 1 hour 31 minutes What handsome boys! Well, I am pretty biased because Teddy (chocolate rescue) is my dog and Keno (black rescue) is his brother. The Brothers got to be honorary DGR dogs on my running interview with Lindsay. We headed towards Douglas Fir Trail and got to run on it briefly before time constraints dictated we head back. Teddy was over the moon to be with Keno and Keno did his best to keep up with him. It was a glorious day and I was able to get a few good nature photos as well as candids. Thanks for this Fall 8K run. The Scoop: 1 poop for Keno and a few pees for each boy. Runners: Ruth and Lindsay DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 9 minutes Reunited and it felt so good! Nothing better than a dog going crazy because you haven’t seen each other in a month! Man, he went crazy and it was awesome. Run was great as well. Not sure what pace or distance he has been running of late but he seems a little slower than usual! Weather was awesome and the pathway was pretty empty of people and we cruised nicely! It was a wonderful day and reunion! The Scoop: 1 poop, many pees. Runner: Mark DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute It was a great run this morning! Reba had lots of energy so we ran quickly between our photo stops. I'm really glad she's not reactive to squirrels because they were bold and stupid today and many of them were playing chicken to see how close we could get before they ran away. Reba did react to one butterfly that came too close and she tried to eat it (don't worry, she missed! Haha!). Thanks Reba! The Scoop: 3 pee, 0 poops. Runner: Jessica DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Today was a day to soak up the sun and enjoy some artwork in addition to walking two lovely dogs. Prospective DGR Runner Vanessi joined me to take out Winter and Kahlua. Winter was the most vocal about going out first so we took her around the pond. There were lots of dogs out and about including a cute Bulldog and a puppy Golden Retriever but we just cruised past. Winnie looked beautiful against the backdrop of a painted garbage can and a painted garage. When we returned, we got Kona into her Haltie and headed the same direction. We changed course. a few times to avoid other doggies as Kona wanted to pull us to meet them. She was a sweetheart and nuzzled up against me a few times. It was fun to see the girls again. The Scoop: 1 pee only for Winter. Nothing to report for Kona. Runners; Ruth and Vanessi DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Easy Breezy! It was pretty hot this evening, but really beautiful at the same time. I was greeted by Dodge at the door after seeing his head poke around the corner from the top of the stairs. Good thing I knew his name. Haha! Jersey needed a calling, but she came down and greeted me with a howl. Steady pace tonight. We hit the creek within the first 15 minutes and neither dog was too interested in the water, but Jersey had a quick lay down and drink. The 2nd round at the water Jersey made sure to submerse herself and was content there for a good minute. We hit the trails passing other families, people on bikes and other dogs, both Jersey and Dodge were perfectly behaved. We stopped for a pet break around 45 minutes then finished up with a lap around the neighbourhood. Got them home, put food in both dishes, Dodge was definitely hungry, Jersey decided to chill by the fireplace. The Scoop: 4 or 5 pees for both of them, no poops. Runner: Brad DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes Hey Saturday Sleepyheads! I got inside the house before Archie got off the couch or made a peep. Then, Freckles gave a rather sleepy bark. I arrived at noon, we started our outing after the introduction session with DGR Runner Brad. The fur kids took an instant liking to Brad! Archie and I jogged the pathway to the ponds and then did more of a power walk on the hill home. As soon as I unlocked the door and got Archie's Haltie off he jumped onto the couch and settled in for a rest.🤣 Miss Freckles was 100% in charge of her route today. Freckles took Michelle for a walk. You have got to love a female that knows what she wants! 🥰The Doggy Business Report: both Archie and Freckles had 1 poop each. Archie had several pees and Freckles had 4 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.1 km DURATION: 1 hor 25 minutes The gals were feeling much better today so we had permission to run! This was only at half speed which was a full core workout for me keeping these two crazy kids at a reasonable pace. Soon, they caught on and the three of us trotted along nicely except when we were untangling ourselves from the (what felt like) 20 leashes! The thing is when you stop too long Mira goes one way and Nova goes the other way until I’m all wrapped up and can’t move….. HAHA! It is funny though, especially when you look up and see people smiling. It is a bit of a comedy show. Anyways, we toured around with ease eventually making our way back to the castle. Thanks for keeping it real Mira and Nova! 1 poo for Mira and many pees each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute A slightly more chilly walk for Marley and me today, Summer is definitely coming to a close. But I am very glad to be out and running with Marley before it's too cold. After a little play in the grass, I urged us to head on towards the path. Marley was chugging along today, I guess he was really excited to go today! Me too, Marley. We just had to check out the view of the reservoir today and take a few pics before moving on. The weather started to warm up a bit as we went which was a pleasant surprise. Hearing that train whistle while we took photos on the ridge was very cool and really set the atmosphere. It's always such a gorgeous walk along the reservoir with Marley. Instead of completing the loop like we usually do, we turned back along the path to enjoy those views once more on the way home. As soon as we reached the path along the road, the sky opened up revealing a cloud-filled blue sky. It always turns out to be a terrific day when I am with Marley! After the length of the golf course, we kept on going along the path a little ways up the electrical lines. After a little “hello" to a squirrel on the sidewalk we made it back home. It was a great end to a great walk. Thanks for enjoying it with me Marley! See you next time. The Scoop: 2 poops, 5 pees. Runner: Mason DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 11 minutes Good morning poochies! By the look of it, I think fall is here. I certainly don’t want to complain about cooler weather and leaves changing colours! Today, we took the fairy trails, since construction is ten-fold, The trails are the only place that the kiddos and I are safe. Conor & Leia were very excited. I literally had to watch every their every move as they was on the mission, and tangling leashes was their favourite game. I called for the leash fairy to help me, but no.. Conor and Leia had way too much fun. Conor was a little rebel and he wanted his sister to play with him and didn’t let up until she gave in. The Scoop: Conor had 1 poop and 1 long pee. Leia had 1 poop and 2 pees. Runner: Fab DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 17 minutes What a great start to my birthday😊. Patti, Aoife and I felt like celebrates at Bowness Park today. There was a couple of people that commented “the sisters made it today.” Then, I met up with a group of pre-schoolers and realized that one of the youngsters (Theo) was a human member of one of DGR’s doggy clients. He came up and said, “ I remember you”. Then proceeded to show his little friends ‘how you run dogs.’🤪 At the end of our walk, we met up with a long-time runner that is an acquaintance through a dear friend of mine. He has a 2-year-old Doodle named Allen, who of course got along smashing with the 2-year-old Irish Sisters. Time for 2 Puppucinnos and a human coffee. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops and 3 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 57 minutes I was not aware that is was National Doggy Day until I was informed by my two gal pals!( the radio told me) So according to Mona and Reilly, it was their choice today. You can’t really argue with that logic can you? After all it is their day! So we headed out running and this lasted for a half a block….then my friends chose to slow things down to sniffing speed. Which lead us down a couple of back alleys; not the prettiest route but the ladies seemed to enjoy themselves. We then hit the swimming hole and finished things off with a short trail. Thanks for a really good time today ladies! 1 poop and many pees each. Cheers! Runner: Tracy |
