![]() -DISTANCE: 6.22 km DURATION: 1:03:11 Today on my run with Mona I ran (excuse my pun) into some shoe troubles and had to considerably slow my pace down to try and mitigate the pain of breaking in a new pair of runners. However, this was no issue for Mona whatsoever! She was happy as can be running wild and free through the off-leash area of Edworthy Park. I always like to express my gratitude for having the opportunity to run with such an amazing pup like Mona, however today I am especially grateful for Mona and her contagious personality. I was pretty bummed out about my shoes but seeing Mona still happy and full of energy instantly turned my frown upside down and together we made the best of our time together! I got some great photos of her posing on the scenic views of our run and of course captured a moment of pure bliss of her rolling around in the grass. Although I may not have made it as far or as fast as I had hoped, Mona definitely covered some major ground and was one tired pup on our drive back home as she fell asleep sitting up in the back seat :) Doggy Business: 1 poop and several pees. ![]() DISTANCE: 7.08 km DURATION: 1:06:11 My heart was bursting with excitement during the entire run with Ruby! It is so satisfying to see a dog gain confidence and joy over such a short period of time. When I arrived, there was no "hide and seek" this time. Instead, Ruby excitedly brought me a toy and let me put her harness on right away. As soon as we got out the door, Ruby started running. It was awesome! Ruby loves to run in the grass. If we are on the pathway, she gently guides me to the grassy side. Ruby got quite excited as I showed her some paths just off the pavement when we descended a hill. We ran quite quickly together! We walked up the last giant hill but once we were at the top, Ruby ran all the way home. Ruby truly is a gem. Today's run with Coach Huck had a mix of a few different routes we have done before. It was a good idea just what I did not think through was the continual incline on the last 2 kms. So at this pivotal point we are at the bus trap between Ranchlands and Dalhousie and this great lady bus driver (Bus 37) stopped to let us cross but we decided it was okay to just take a break. Then with a big smile on her face, the bus driver opened the door and asked if we wanted a lift. Oh I was soooo tempted and Huck looked at me with a wink😉. Thanks, we keep moving up hill. The Doggy Business Report : 1 soft poop and oodles of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 10.62 km DURATION: 1:20:35 Wow, so much to be thankful for on today's run. First and foremost, is having a morning run with the girls Abby & Reilly. The temperature was cooler with a slight breeze - just perfect to get some distance in. Which we did‼️ We had our longest run today and big thanks to Abby & Reilly for helping me achieve the 200 kms mark for the month of June😘. These girls are the best running mates. I had a lady stop and say to me "that's not fair they are pulling you". We had a chuckle and laugh and I said " Ya it's great." Some days running is like being on a cloud you just have the perfect balance of breath and momentum! Both Abby & Reilly seem to enjoy the cooler temperatures so when it started to rain the last 1.5 kms I think we all had a perma smile on. 😊 The Business Report = Abby 1 &1 and Reilly 1 poop and lots of pees Please note the video showing Reilly's signature greeting of grabbing a running shoe to say, "Let's Go For a Run!" Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 7.27 km DURATION: 53:08 Today I had the pleasure of meeting and running with the beautiful Ria! Her family was home when I got there so I said hello to them but she was ready to bounce right out the door so we wasted no time and hit the road! Since I work just around the corner my colleague Mary decided to join us for the run as a way to kick off the weekend. We had lots of sniff pauses at the start of the run and then took a photo by the beautiful flowers on Prince's Island. I've read that Ria is a big fan of water so we took a dip and she didn't want to get out! I can't blame her as it was a pretty humid day. All in all a great run, I think she will be ready for a nap this afternoon! Also, I can't believe how soft Ria is, I wish my hair was that soft and voluminous! Two poops and six pees for Ria. Happy Canada Day weekend everyone. Runner: Lauren DISTANCE: 7.01 km DURATION: 1:00:33
School's out for the Summer so this means we have a wonderful new runner joining our DGR team. Andrina is a teacher, runner and soon to be triathlete who also happens to love dogs and has a soft spot for Goldens. This was her first DGR run so she joined Golden boy Jasper, Teddy and me. We headed to River Park to give the dogs some off-leash social time with other dogs and then headed down to Jasper's mud spa! He was happy to cool down for a bit in his little pool. We then went towards the more open river where the dogs got a chance to soak themselves before heading back home. We walked towards the end of the run so Jasper didn't get over-heated with his big fur coat! On the way home, we found some silly signs about wine and the Internet. All-in-all, we had two very happy dogs and two happy runners! Runners: Ruth and Andrina DISTANCE: 8.88 km DURATION: 1:02:21
After a few stretches, and some famous Jax body shakes, Jax was ready to roll! However, perhaps it was the heat of the day, but today, Jax easily stopped 20 times for nature breaks in the 1st km… Haha! Once he got that settled, he was more focused and we made our way down to the river. The river was a welcome on such a warm day! I paused Runkeeper to play fetch with a stick, throwing it into the water… That was so much fun for Jax!! We dipped into the river a few times afterward as well, just to cool off. It was so needed!! At one point, Jax had enough fun as he plopped himself in the shade of a tree and just looked at me. I knew it was time to go home at that point... LOL! A good run over all! The scoop: 5x poos and many pees. Runner: Chris ![]() DISTANCE: 8.03 km DURATION: 1:05:01 Seeing as Domina and I had such fun on our last run, we decided to go to Confederation Park via the cemetery again. I thought we could do a few hill repeats but earlier in the run. Domina wasn't "into it" this time so we walked up the hills and then continued through the park. I could tell Domina was enjoying herself. She had a bounce to her step and she checked in with me a couple of times. We saw lots of kids on bikes ( I think it was a day camp). One little boy wished us a good morning! We headed back to Domina's place tired and happy. Pee=6 Poop=1 Runner: Rosemary ![]() DISTANCE: 9 km DURATION: 1:12:00 Oops! Talus and I stopped to talk to Parks And Rec people about the goats in the park and I didn't know Runkeeper had stopped. So just double the distance and add 30 minutes. Boo for technical difficulties. Today, I took Talus to the parks so that she could have more time on the grass rather than on the hot pavement. She gave herself quite a few baths so I hope she's not too wet! She found a stick that she was sure I should throw for her even though it was covered in mud and gunky algae! Needless to say she had a great time on her run! One poop and lots of pees Runner: Tara ![]() DISTANCE: 6.13 km DURATION: 1:06:22 Today was a tough one to convince Maverick to run. Usually, when he's feeling a bit pokey, I can still convince him to go at an easy pace run. Not so today. After about the fifth failed attempt to get him to a run, I gave up and we settled into a brisk walk. Mav was a little bit cheeky about it too, which I personally found amusing, even if it slowed our progress. We would be running and he would suddenly tug me over to the grass for a pee. I came to realize that every time he wanted to stop running, he would take a pee break; and he peed a lot! We did take a detour down to a secluded area on the river for a cool down. I took his basket off for a little bit so he could fetch a stick we found along the bank, he had the biggest grin when he brought it back to me! The dip in the river seemed to revive him, and we did get some running in, but just until Maverick decided he would rather roll in the grass then run! One poop for Maverick today, and too many pees to count. Runner: Janine ![]() DISTANCE: 9.16 km DURATION: 1:11:45 Mira was full of beans today! She wanted to set the course and bounced everywhere! As usual, she was very excited about running the trails, which was even more challenging as she bounced around, steering us off course a couple of times😉! We stopped for a quick photo shoot but I only got one decent one because Mira just kept moving☺️. My hip is a little tight so I waited until Mira was good and tired before I slowed down the pace on the way home. She did not seem to mind as she panted heavily. We did not need to take a trip to the kennel with Mulligan as someone was home. It was another fun run with Mira for the books! Pee=lots Poop=1 Runner: Rosemary ![]() DISTANCE: 9.22 km DURATION: 57:00 I have to admit this morning I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was not feeling great. It just goes to show you the power of running and doggy smiles. I think we underestimate how smart dogs are, because Harley seemed to just understand and stuck extra close to me and kept looking up at me as thought checking in to see how I was feeling with his big brown eyes and goofy smile. It wasn't long before we hit our groove and had a glorious run in spite of how warm and humid it was! Harley's nose was firing on all cylinders as once we hit the off-leash area where he was checking everything out, but I always love watching him bounding back towards me! When we made it back home we hung out on the front steps to cool off and give extra pets for helping me turn my frown upside down! You're the kindest soul Harley, thank you for the run! No poops but lost count of pees after 8! Runner: Lauren DISTANCE: 7.56 km DURATION: 58:09
So today was a solo outing with Loki and a great one at that. We hit a pretty good pace with Loki focused on nothing but matching me stride for stride. One of the many things I love about running with Loki is how attentive he is to whomever he is running with. He rarely ever runs ahead and on the occasion that he does, he's always looking back, tongue out, tail wagging and asking me if I could please hurry up so we can run faster. Haha! We ventured to some new running real estate and found ourselves turned around a couple times due to construction and dead ends but this didn't bother our rhythm in the slightest. Yet another day of fun running and plenty of doggy smiles to boot! Loki was so into our run he only stopped for two pees, and no poops. Runner: Alex ![]() DISTANCE: 4.58 km DURATION: 1:01:36 Hot day for big dogs! Tried to get away a little earlier so we could beat the heat. The goal of the day was to find cool grass to walk on and take it easy. Molson is apparently pretty regular - pooped on nearly the same spot he did on last walk. Nothing from Roxy though. We walked in Glenmore Park for a while. I should have known that Molson would be the kind of dog who loves water. I wasn't sure about the "dog get wet" situation so thought it best to keep him dry...He wasn't impressed with me, Have you ever noticed that dogs never look back unless they're called? Maybe that's why they're generally happy. Runner: Kari ![]() DSTANCE: 8.87 km DURATION: 1:21:27 Happy hump day Kayto! What a fantastic morning for a run. Today, Kayto ran circles around me. He was in great spirits. Funny thing though, there wasn't a ball or stick in sight... I'm thinking he's still a little miffed over last week's photo shoot😂. This morning's route was the same but different simply because Kayto and I were very indecisive (maybe the heat is starting to get to us). Which way are we going Kayto? It doesn't really matter as long as he gets to the river. Turning down a path too soon was a happy accident. We ended up at a swimming hole, Kayto was in his glory😊. 3 poos and too many pees to count. Always a pleasure Kayto! You bring me great joy. Runner: Tracy |
