DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes It was raining out today for the first half of Nell and my run but on the way back the sun started to show up. Nell was stopping and drinking out of whatever little puddles she could find and honestly I wished I could have done the same. The weather was definitely a nice mix of warm rain and sunshine so that made for a very interesting run today. The Scoop: 1 pee. Runner: Alex

Good Morning Fur Kiddos, it is bright and early. Zuli & Hunter did not hear me pull up. It was not until I rang the door bell that they realized I had arrived. I get it, I think you were working on your first cup of coffee. We had a lovely day to spend time outside. What is so amazing about these two is when they finished playing, sniffing or doing their business, they just head inside. I am the one they look at through the door, saying ‘we are done now. Michelle come inside.’ I swear these two can talk - just with their actions. I was sitting on the chair by the island and Hunter came up and gave me a little nudge and then he stood on his hind legs and gave me a big kiss and readjusted my glasses. That was the dinner bell signal going off.🤪 ZuZu is a little ‘Love Packet’. When I get close to her, I hear 2 thumps of the tail, and ever so gently she starts to roll over. ‘Do you see my belly? Time for a belly rub.” Today, Zuli chased Hunter in the backyard to the patio door. It was so fun to watch. Zuli is fast! Hunter came running back as I was going to the door and wanting to make sure that I got pics of their playtime. You two have such character and charm. My time with you both is so peaceful and regenerating. Today, we did hit the ‘Snack Box’ a bit more. Almost 1/2 the carrot and apples were gone, I give them double treats when they ‘ham-it-up’ at the refrigerator. Yep, these two pup have me totally wrapped around all 8 paws! Lunch was right at 12 bells and early dinner at 5:05. The Doggy Business Report: Hunter had 6 pees, 1 poop. Zuli only had 5 pees.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Kahlua and I made our way out the door to Princess Island Park. We passed a sombrero wearing busker, singing and playing the guitar. The ambience was wonderful: music, sun, and running. At Princess Island there were lots and lots of baby geese being watched over by their elders. Kahlua ears perked as she looked at them, but she lost interest quickly and searched for some tasty grass to nibble on. We speed-walked for a while on the other side of the river, which seemed like a good pace for Kahlua on this warm day. On the way home, we did some more running, and we ran into one dog that Kahlua barked at. When we got home, Kahlua’s glow-in-the-dark dog tag illuminated brightly in the dark hallway as she went for a much needed drink of water. Great job today girl! The Scoop: 2 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY #5 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.9 km DURATION: 2 hours 4 minutes Charlie wasn’t really feeling up for running today and who am I to argue with that sweet face? After all, it’s his adventure not mine! We were on the same page as far as being more social than usual. Clearly, we aren’t a shy pair and took every opportunity to say hello to our other lonely Calgarians..... My friend also pooped himself out after the second game of tossing the old tree limb around, so we headed straight for his favourite swimming hole. Once he was completely satisfied, we leisurely made our way back to the cool comforts of home. Thanks for a very happy outing today Charlie! You made my day!🥰 3 poos and several pees today. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 9.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Rossi's tongue is always a talking point! I think my all time favorite greeting from Rossi is when he is already in the yard when I approach the house, I can see the excitement building into a quiver until he launches himself into action, barreling down the hill towards me, blows by, turns back up the hill and jumps up on me. Although I do have a moment where I worry he's going to knock me over I get totally caught up in his energy and we both end up grinning 😁 We had a lovely run on what's become our regular Friday route. West Campus pond is beautiful at the moment, right in contour and bird life and Rossi loves doing a lap, saying hi to the ducks & geese, and getting a drink. Today he even got to say hi to a young boy who was quite taken by him! After our pond lap we headed to Montalban offleash which had been freshly mowed! It's was in prime running condition with the lush grass and plenty of shade for Rossi when he needs a breather. We had a pretty smooth run in and around the park, two little dogs chased after Rossi desperate to say hello, when their owner called them back and he was unable to say hi he sat down and refused to move, not something he normally does when he's offleash 😂 The warmer weather definitely slows Rossi down a bit, he still loves bounding around at the beginning but he gets tired and he tends to run next to me or behind me sometimes stopping in the shade for a rest! Rossi did run well today on the whole and was very responsive to my commands. Due to the heat and the length of his tongue when it rolls out of his mouth we got a few comments and two people ran by us and hung their tongues out of their mouths 😂. On our second lap round the pond we had a few drink stops which was nice for me because I got to listen to the birds and watch the ducks swimming around. It's a nice way to, sort of, finish up our run because it is close to home and Rossi is typically reenergized for the final km back to the house 😊. The Scoop: 6 pees, 2 poos. Runner: Allison DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 19. minutes Lucy, it is your DAY! Aunty M is going to just follow your lead. The sun was shining; making this Friday a glorious outing. Lucy chose to head over to the pond. I think she was hoping to go swimming😂. Lots of humans and canines were out getting their daily dose of Vitamin D. We did some weaving and agility today. A few rest stops in the shade on the cool grass under some trees. We did not reach a great distance but we had a sunny time together. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops and 4 pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 3.6 km DURATION: 52 minutes What a beautiful morning for an outing!! We made our way around the neighbourhood, slowly at first; there were so many things to sniff! With the warmer weather, more and more people are spending time outdoors. We ran into the same little girl from yesterday’s walk and Gibbons was THRILLED to run into her old pal Goldie. This gorgeous curly-haired pup was eager to run into Gibbons as well. According to Goldie’s mom, she and Gibbs often used to play together. This was quite apparent when Gibbons approached Goldie without hesitation (even an excited whimper). Toki, on the other hand, was preoccupied, watching the birds fly around us. You two just make my day. Have a great weekend girls!! The Scoop: 8+ pees for G and 5 pees for T. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 6.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute The day was heating up as Marley and I set out on our journey. We switched between running and walking every five minutes. The running part made Marley want to lay down in the shaded grass and roll around. We saw lots of blooming cherry blossoms and white lilacs which smelled amazing, but I didn’t linger too long as I didn’t want to be caught sniffing someone’s tree. At the end of our run, we took a little break by laying down in the grass together. Marley nibbled on grass while I started up at the bright blue sky. Great job today Marley! The Scoop: 4 pees, 1 poo. Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY #5 ![]() DISTANCE: 5 km DURATION: 1 hour 15 minutes Marley took it easy on Huxley and me today. We were both out for a good run before coming to pick you up. Marley had a little twinkle in her eye. She was ready for some exercise. It was a fantastic 5K through Griffith Woods. At the second watering/swimming hole, Miss M got the hijinx. A little background information on the unusual event is that Huxley is the roamer of the group and comes barreling back to Marley and myself. To witness Marley’s zoomies and water hijinx made Huxley stop and see what she was up to. Marley was ripping back and forth in the creek. I think she really liked the splashing of the water under her belly. Then, she zoomed under and over and then under again on the bridge. Huxley watched her with delight but his ’pep-meter’ needed more coins (cookies) added to resume. When Marley finished her hijinx, she gave us another twinkle and a smile. The pups had a great day and both Huxley & Marley give 8 paws up on the swimming conditions today. The Doggy Business Report: neither dog had a poop. Both dogs had several pees. Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #4 ![]() DISTANCE: 3.4 km DURATION: 51 minutes Gibbons was much happier to see me today without the rain pouring down. Toki greeted me by running to the toy basket to grab a stuffed chicken, as per usual. We were thrilled to see the blue skies and warm sun as we began our adventure. Along the way, we ran into many friends including a German Shepherd named Maya and a little girl that kept pointing at G & T. The little girl’s dad told Gibbs and Toks that they were the most beautiful pups. As we wrapped up our jog, Gibbons halted, staring at the pond. I saw what I thought was a beaver swimming on the water’s surface. What an eventful day and it isn’t even noon! See you tomorrow girlies. The scoop: 1 poop and 6 pees for G, 4 pees for T. Runner: Jaime DGR RUN OF THE DAY #3 ![]() DISTANCE: 10.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Juno and I were a quick team on this sunny May morning. We headed for the Bow River pathway. As we were flying down the gravel path by the golf course down to the train tracks. Juno's tongue flopped outside of her mouth, and droplets of sweat trickled down my forehead. We were working hard this morning. Also, we came across some more baby geese, and I’m pretty sure they were the same ones we saw last time because the way their parents stared us down as we passed, and oh my they’ve grown so big! Once we crossed the bridge and were under Edworthy Park, I looked at the two hills ahead and contemplated my options. It was either the less steep but long road, or the insanely steep but short hill that leads into the dog park. I chose the less time consuming option, and we began to run up it. We made it 3/4 of the way running up this devilish hill and walked the rest. Great job today Juno! The Scoop: 1 poo, 1 pee. Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY #2 ![]() DISTANCE: 7.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 12 minutes Heat - Hills - Hanging Tongues. That was our tale and trails for the day. I picked up Huxley and brought him over to my house. We (including Aoife) ran over to Nosehill. That is when the hill work really began. I decided to go a new direction. That happened rather quickly after a very cheeky coyote wanted to join our pack. No problem a little more hills never hurt anyone😳. The heat was rising and the pink tongues of Huxley and Aoife started to appear. We hit the top of the parking lot and a knew a reward for such great work needed to be present. Guess what pups - it time for the need for speed. It was the downhill portion for a few kilometres. Huxley being the seasoned DGR athlete he is - was ready. Aoife dragged behind and wondered what was going on. At the bottom of the hill, when ALL tongues were hanging on the ground, Huxley gave Aoife some advice. ”Listen, Kid, if you want to keep up with the big dogs., you got to pace yourself. Stop coming out of the gate (front door) like a crazy pup. Keep it cool and constant.” Oh, Hux Pup you are so wise. The Doggy Business Report: 2 poops, several pees and one full bowl of cold water for this athlete.🐾 Runner: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY #1 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 38 minutes It was smooth sailing for we three gals today, as we hit the Douglas Fir Trail. Mona and Gracie brought their party up a notch! No, seriously they ran up and down the hillside exploring every nook and cranny they possibly could. Not to mention, they found every single mud puddle out there today. They were filthy but very happy, I swear these two crazy kids are cut from the same cloth! After that excitement, we hit the river and I watched as Mona and Gracie made their way through the path spreading a little bit of joy to those who needed it. Thanks for being such a great friend to Gracie, Mona ! You have brought us both such joy! 1 poo and many pees today. Cheers! Runner: Tracy DGR RUN OF THE DAY #6 ![]() DISTANCE: 5.2 km DURATION: 1 hour With a little help from your fur friends. Gibbons was all cuddled up in bed when I arrived this morning. She looked cozy and like she didn’t want to be disturbed. Thankfully, we had Toki there to motivate her to head outside. With absolutely perfect running weather—light breeze, sunshine, cooler temps—Gibbons soon realized why Toki was so keen to get out and wanted to join for the entire run, rather than her usual beeline for home after 20 minutes. This did slow up the pace a little but Toki didn’t seem to mind too much. She seemed pretty content to have Gibbons along for the entire excursion. The Scoop: poop for Gibbons, pees for both. Runner: Lauren DGR RUN OF THE DAY #5 ![]() DISTANCE: 8.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Murphy was full of energy today! He was beside or ahead of me for the first 20 minutes which was a PR ( Personal Record) for him! Then, he moved back to his usual position as a caboose on our run train. He also managed to go a full 40 minutes before trying to sneak a stick snack (another PR!). He was so tired when we got back that he actually laid down at the door. Haha. It was really funny! I wish I was quicker with the camera on that one. Thanks Murphy! The Scoop: 1 pee, 1 poo. Runner: Jessica |
