Happy Wednesday! There are no exciting stories to share with you today about my run today with Mira. We headed for the coulee and on our way she sniffed and peed....because that's what dogs do. 😂 Both Mira and I were hot (because it was hot out) so we basically ran until we hit some shade and then enjoyed it for as long as possible (walked) and then ran to the next cool spot. Wait I lied, I did almost step on a snake so there was a little bit of a squeal (at least that's what I think that noise was) 😳 and then we carried on. Down through the coulee for some refreshing water, it was quiet on the trails today so every noise Mira heard called for some investigation. We slowly made our way out (did I say it was hot) and back up the hill home. Even Mulligan got his business over with quicker than normal.😬 Thanks for the fantastic company today Mira! You're a peach! 1 poo and lots of pees for Mira ; 1 poo and the usual 2 pees for Mulligan (done in record time). Runner: Tracy

![]() DISTANCE: 7.27 km DURATION: 58:34 Warmer day, longer distance, faster pace. We're getting better and better at this the more familiar we get with each other! Squirrel sightings? No big deal. Off leash dogs? Not to big of a deal. Kids playing at a distance? No problem. Fresh wet concrete? Lincoln didn't even give it a first look (though it made my eyes bug out for a split second). A very fine day overall, looking forward to next time Lincoln! Business as usual: 1 x #2, and many tiny #1's. Runner: Michael DISTANCE: 7.33 km DURATION: 1:03:01
Hello Timber😊. She knew exactly why I was there.....to take her out and for a run!! So after the 'Happy Dance' and a couple kisses we headed off with a few rain drops falling on us. Timber was "not sure how she felt about this?" After a block or two, the weather was all good just fairly muggy out. We looped around Dalhousie doing a run, trot and a few walk breaks. I had a little surprise for Timber. Today, our goal was to go 5K and then stop in for a dip at the doggy pool at my house. We got just a few doors away when we met up with more doggy friends of Timber's. I tell you this gal is Miss Popularity!! After a quick chit chat we had to say our goodbyes because Timber was more than ready for a dip. As you can tell, she was pretty pleased to cool down and have some ball time. Our last couple kilometers were a breeze and Timber was dry when we got home. Timber ate her dinner and I think her Mom will find her sleeping on the step again when she gets home.😂. The Doggy Business: 1 poop and 2 pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 4.85 km DURATION: 31:16 Welcome to our newest pack member Gogol, a 13 month old Golden Retriever who runs like a dream. Tammy and I both fell pretty quickly for this handsome boy who greeted us with his toy at the door and proceeded to snuggle with us. Gogol lives near the old Lindsay Park/Talisman Centre and has easy access to beautiful pathways. I think there will be several of our DGR Runners fighting over the right to run this easy going pup. We had a nice stop in the river to cool off his paw pads. He looked pretty happy based on his grin with his pink tongue hanging out. Gogol is named from the main character in a book called The Namesake. It is also the name of the Nikolai Gogol, a famous Ukrainian author. At first I thought his name was Gogo so I am not surprised that he wants to go and go. What a great athlete and happy guy! The scoop: 1 poo and 2 pees. As Harley and I were zipping past a gaggle of goslings on our sunny run today, I was thinking if I was anything like the geese watching their flock. In charge of a sweet fluffy angel, check! Working to lead Harley along our route and continue to "teach him the ropes" and pathway etiquette, of course. Protecting my guy from... whatever may come, absolutely! But I think that's where it ends. I don't hiss (although my two-legged children may suggest otherwise LOL). I definitely do NOT leave any messes along the path. And I'm decked out in layers of tech gear to keep me strong, protected, cool, and possibly, stylish. But at the same time, Harley and I do spend so much time along the river that some could say that we live there. Hmmm, maybe I am like a goose afterall. Great run today, Harley. I'm already looking forward to our next one. The scoop: 9 pees, no poops. Runner: Sheri ![]() DISTANCE: 6.60 km DURATION: 1:24:20 Happy Hump Day Loki! Today was not my day; I woke up with a nasty cold and things turned around noon. Please bare with me buddy; I'm going to be a little slow today. Thankfully, the hot temperatures were in my favor. That being said, I knew that it wouldn't take too much to tire this big fella out. We decided to head down along the ridge into Bowmount Park. I took the liberty of making our walk a little longer today, being that I didn't have much gas for a run today, I wanted to ensure Loki got in a good enough exercise! Loki didn't seem to mind our brisk walk; we sniffed lots; Bowmount had many great smells to offer Loki. Along with the spectacular view, our afternoon turned out to be very enjoyable! Again, thanks for being a great way to end the day, Loki! No scoop to report today. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 2.53 km DURATION: 1:00:13 Finally, girl time at last!! Sorry, I teased you two by taking Kai first, but I figured it was a time that we try out the 11:00 park crowd and meet some new faces! And there were new faces indeed! Finn, the Yellow Lab, became one of our pack. He was so cute and took quite the liking to the girls. He even shared his ball with Kacie. What a sweet boy! After a few moments with Finn, the girls moved along to see who else they could befriend. As we moseyed our way around the edge of the park, we sniffed and said our many hellos to the others. Although, with the day as hot as it was today, the girls took all the time in the shade they could. A few minutes in the shade meant a couple of puppy massages for them! Spoiled! In the shade, we visited over some treats, and just relaxed in the cool breeze. It was a perfect day for the park! Beautiful and warm! The scoop: 1 poop each, plenty of pees. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 5.53 km DURATION: 1:08:42 Hello, Kai, I am taking you before your sisters today because I am hoping to beat the heat! Luckily, it was only 22 degrees this morning; she was a warm one! I was feeling a little under the weather, so I wanted to let Kai be in control of our run today if he wanted to stop and sniff, so be it! We made a B-Line for the water today, Kai is so entertaining to watch. Whether he is digging under water for a stick or splashing the water with his paw and eating the bubbles, he is always so funny to watch. It is never a dull moment with him that's for sure! An awesome surprise along the paths today, we ran into Sherri and Harley out for their morning jog. With a couple of quick hellos, we were on our way. I love running into other DGR runners on the trails! We kept our loop short and sweet being that Kai took his time in the river today, but nonetheless, Kai was pooped by the end of it. Once we got to his street, he would have much rather sit in the shade then make the push for home; I think you might be too big for me to carry you, buddy! However, A few treats came in handy when convincing him that his house is just a half a block away. Thanks for the run, Kai! The scoop: 2 poops, 10 pees. Runner: Paige ![]() DISTANCE: 9.81 km DURATION: 1:02:45 Jersey and Dodge were more excited than usual today. It took them a while to calm down before we headed out. And as soon as we were outside, they started running, no sniffing, or anything. Maybe they thought I was taking them for another Doggy Dash? Both of them got their poops done early and we all got back to running. It was a hot day and I knew that they were going to tire themselves out. And sure enough, they did. We found a spot where we could get down to the Bow River, and Dodge jumped right in, almost taking me with him! Jersey seemed content just getting her feet wet. After that, we took it easy for the rest of our run, resting in some shade whenever we found some. It was a bit warm, but it was a great day for running. Thanks for the run, Jersey and Dodge! One poop each and many pees. Runner: Bryan ![]() DISTANCE: 6.17 km DURATION: 1:03:51 Hello Indy, meet Keno (Teddy's brother) who is going to join us on our DGR outing. Can you teach him the ropes? With temperatures quickly rising to 27C, most dog owners and dogs were headed one direction today; to the river. On the stairway down to the river, we saw familiar faces. Hey, it's Loki, Kismet and their mom. These Border Collies along with sibling Sadie, run with DGR in the winter. Kismet has gotten so big. We also saw a baby Border named Juno whose owner's is friends with Loki and Kismet's mom. These dogs were all fans of the water so there was a lot of splashing, chasing and swimming. Teddy even tried to teach a Portuguese Water Dog how to swim. It almost felt like we were at a water park; it was so entertaining! The scoop: no poop but lots of pees by all three. Runner: Ruth ![]() DISTANCE: 7.53 km DURATION: 1:02:33 Well I'm so thankful that I reintroduced myself to Reilly on Monday because it sure made things go a lot smoother today👍🏿 My friend welcomed me into her home today no problem😊 She saw me and jumped up on the door. I opened it cautiously as not to frighten her. I sat down right away and she came over and gave me a kiss . I think my heart melted just a little. I gave Reilly a pre run snack and we were off! (never underestimate the power of a delicious treat😜) I let my new friend lead the way today because we are still getting acquainted. We headed down to the river for a slurp or two, said hello to some pooches, toured around for a bit and back up the hill home. It was a nice comfortable easy run. Thanks for hanging out with me this afternoon Reilly! You're the best! Only 1 poo but many pees for Reilly today. Cheers! Runner: Tracy ![]() DISTANCE: 9.63 km DURATION: 1:15:14 Hi, Lucy here. My runner today (they call her Jaime) showed me how to use this thing and asked if I would write about our run today. Well first of all, I was so happy to see Jaime walk through that front door as today in our building they were testing the fire alarms (very confusing and not fun to listen to). As we set out on our run, I found it incredibly hot for this early on in the day. I was listening to the radio this morning though and they predicted it would get up to 28!! I would not want to be outside in that (unless I were furless)... Back to the run; our timeline today consisted of stopping to smell the roses as they say, and the discovery of this beautiful garden of roses behind me. (I am told they are actually dandelions, but roses sounds better) Our run was peaceful and quiet, but we did pass close by to 3 others of my kind. Every encounter went very well!! A couple sniffs then we said adios! We found the watering hole again and there was not a creature in site. I think I will name this 'Lucy's swimming hole'. I convinced Jaime using the good ol' puppy dog eyes to dip her head and hands in the river. We shimmied off any excess water and headed for home. We sure did use those towels that mom left out for us. Once I was nice and clean, I gave Jaime some kisses goodbye and she even put one of my favourite toys in my crate with me. I had a great morning! I only had to pee today, no poops. See you on Friday, Jaime! Runner: Jaime ![]() DISTANCE: 9.57 km DURATION: 55:50 Good morning Maverick, you are looking as handsome as Tom Cruise back in the 80s! I will be your co pilot Goose today as we navigate the paths of the Bow River before it gets too hot out. Mav is a dream to run with; if the leash didn't make noise I would forget there is a dog attached to me. Mav never runs ahead and keeps a nice steady pace. The occasional stop to take care of business is all that was necessary in the first half of our run. Despite the morning hour, it was pretty warm out so the second half of the run required some shade and river breaks to cool off a bit. Thankfully the clouds made it a bit cooler as we crossed back over the Bow and headed for home. Thanks for the run Maverick. See you for another run soon. We'll shake on it!! Dog business: 1 poop 5 pees Runner: Kathy ![]() DISTANCE: 5.03 km DURATION: 51:59 At the risk of repeating myself, it was another gorgeous morning! Wow! Sunny, warm, blue sky ... spring at its absolute best! In keeping with the weather, Roxy and Molson were excellent today! They trotted alongside me as we enjoyed our walk along the reservoir and then into the park. Had some off-leash time which included rolls in the grass and playtime. Both peed but only Roxy pooped. Runner: Susan ![]() DISTANCE: 7.03 km DURATION: 58 minutes Good morning Tegan! I'm so happy to see you! And we could use all the happiness we can get, can't we? This was my first run with Tegan since her boyfriend Archimedes passed away and I was a little teary eyed reminiscing with his human. Tegan showed all the behaviours of why these dogs are so, so special to us. She barked upon my arrival to protect the home front. Once she saw me hug her human, she was all smiles and happy to head off on a run with me. She knew that if I was hug-worthy in Kimberly's eyes, she could trust being in my care for the hour. It was nice to have a run where Tegan could take whatever pace she wanted. She would sometimes run about as fast as her legs could carry her, and then stopped to sniff whenever she pleased. Towards the end, the warmth was getting to her so we took a nice easy pace to bring it home. Thank you Tegan for being so good for our hearts when we need it. I'll see you when I get back! The Scoop: 1 poop, 2 pees. Runner: Tammy |
