![]() DISTANCE: 7.42 km DURATION: 49:59 Fast friends! Sweet Violet greeted me at the door with such excitement for my first time meeting her today! I think she knew I had never been to this area of town and was thrilled to get to show me around. I'd heard rumours she might like to stick close to home and sure enough at the corner of 69th and 17th Ave she sat down and looked at me as if to say she had decided this was enough. This is probably where having a few treats would have come in handy but a little heart to heart down on her level and a few pets and we were off and running in no time. It was a quiet run through all sorts of neighbourhoods! We said hi to many folks out gardening and a few doggy friends from afar. It was a hot day and we made it back to her house in great time so we sat on the cool shaded cement step and had some more pets before saying goodbye, Thanks for the snuggles Violet! 1 poop and 1 pee today! ![]() DISTANCE: 8.03 km DURATION: 1:06:48 Wow, were the girls happy to see me today, I really got the full " Hurray you came!!! We love you!!!! Let's run!!" greeting when I arrived. I must admit I soaked it all in💕. Since I have three runs with the girls this week I wanted to make a plan and have a new route each day. Today was South - lets go south and see what we see. We ran to the river and then into Bowness and headed back home. We zig zagged along the streets to avoid the home road grunt climb. And are we ever so happy we did that because we ran in to hard-working Elizabeth from DGR and met Sir Beausley. Always great to see such happy faces 😊 so a photo op was a must. The Doggy Business Report = Abby 1 &1 (in Elizabeth's back yard) and Reilly 1 poop and lots of pees. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 6.22 km DURATION: 57:07 We had a slow start to our run today. Ria had to find the perfect spots to do her business and that took about 20 minutes of doddling around. After that we picked up the pace and had a nice run through Rosedale. Ria was trying to blend in with the boulders along Crescent Road for her photo. She's too beautiful to just blend in though! :) Two poops today. Runner: JoAnne ![]() DISTANCE: 11.06 km DURATION: 1:11:54 A glorious sunny day for a run along the Glenmore Reservoir with lots of fun points of interests including Heritage Park, Rockyview Hospital, and the Glenmore Paddling Club. Archimedes was so keen to run today so we added some extra distance. There were lots of bikers and walkers on the pathway and we had 3 different people make comments about how amazing Archimedes' tongue is. He does use his tongue to cool himself off through his panting. I thought he would drink some water out of his water bottle but he seemed fine just to pant and smile. Love this speedy and handsome boy! The poop scoop: 4 poops so I had to use a treat bag to help with final one and 5 pees. Runner: Ruth ![]() DISTANCE: 6.53 km DURATION: 1:12:59 I haven't played "whack a mole" since I was a kid, but today I got to play it "Buster's Style"! I picked up Buster this morning for the first time... What a charmer, I knew I was in trouble; he is so handsome😊. Buster got to lead the way today. We followed his nose over to gopher hill!😳 Haha "whack a mole" good for the core I guess.... I finally got him away and focused enough to get moving then he decided we were going to have a little rest. He tried to figure out a way to lose me and chase some birds; sorry but we're attached. Buster also tried to cut the run short but I talked him out of it! We finished off by going around the lovely pond close his house. 4 poos and lots of pees. Cheers Buster! After a big weekend with family in town, graduations and a running race, it was nice to get back to the routine with running Jasper and Teddy. In the past, I have written about how they are like 2 peas in a pod. They are such a good pair and almost like the odd couple where they play chase, get on each others' nerves and then decide to play chase again or go swimming. On this sunny day, we ran into lots of neighbours who knew Jasper so it was fun to stop and say hi to Harry and his Shiba Inus and another friend with her Cockapoo. These visits were at the beginning of the run where we also saw a few hares and then we were down to business with a nice faster than usual pace. At the end of the run, we passed a dog training classes with about 15 owners and their dogs. A cyclist passing by commented to me , " I like your companions." I agree. The scoop: 3-4 pees for Jasper. Runner: Ruth ![]() DISTANCE: 8.90 km DURATION: 1:05:29 A river run with Maverick and a brilliant one at that.! It's been a long time since I have been on the pathway along the river by Edworthy Park; thanks Mav for making that happen😊. A little bit into our run Maverick would stop and give me a little look like "hey look what's down there". It took awhile for me (the student) to pick up on what Maverick (the teacher) was wanting. But it hit me, I remember reading some of the past blogs and how Maverick like to go for a dip and wet his toes. So at the half way point, we found the perfect place🐾. We tried a couple of other spots but they where taken by gaggles of geese so we dared not disturb the family reunion. On another note I just can't stop petting Maverick he is just so soft!! Every time we are going to stop or change pace or run away from geese I put my hand on him and give him a rub. He is like a cuddle blanket or stuffed toy. The doggy business report = 1 poop and 3 pees. Till next time Maverick my cuddle blanket. Runner: Michelle ![]() DISTANCE: 6.05 km DURATION: 1:03:51 An eventful morning run that saw Molson and Roxy meet and visit with Grandfather Michael and his friend Michael. Both saw him in the distance and the race was on to see who could get to him first with me in tow. Nothing like a pair of Goldens in 4 wheel drive to keep one alert. We stopped for a couple of photo by a lovely garden then a photo of both waiting for a treat looking very attentive. No poos for either 1 pee for Roxy and 4 for Molson. Runner: Bob ![]() DISTANCE: 10.18 km DURATION: 1:23:30 Today on my run I was enlightened with three things: 1. Lincoln is an absolute joy to run with as he is affectionate, obedient and just overall happy to be running, but not just that, he is happy to be running with you! He has such personality and I could feel his joy and enthusiasm rubbing off on me. 2. That hill in Edworthy Park is NO JOKE and I am humbled by it every time I attempt its steep and steady incline. Lincoln was stride for stride with me and we accomplished it together which was such a rewarding feeling. 3. Mother Nature is responsive to the energy you give her. What started out as windy, cold and somewhat miserable became a bluebird day and a hot one at that. Which leads me to believe that all the positive energy Lincoln and I were exuding on our run together, Mother Nature rewarded us with some beautiful weather in return! Scoop on the poop: 1 poop and several pees Runner: Alex ![]() DISTANCE: 1.61 DURATION: 19:38 Bad news! I turned on Runkeeper and threw my phone in the stroller basket, Nell did most of the work on our run today. Nell was huffing and puffing when we got back to the apartment! Finally a good tiring run for her! Did you now what Nell always had time and energy for? GROUND HOGS! Check out the picture! Runner: Tara DISTANCE: 5.93 km DURATION: 58:24
Thoroughbred Violet! Wow, all smiles Violet, Happy to see you too, standing tall and proud all coiffed and pretty, Jumped out of the gate, already to race! A glorious blue sky in the SW today, along with a wind🌬that pushed and swayed. We headed down the boulevard at a good pace. We nodded our heads and ran steadily. We were in sync! Good job Violet, well done! Everything's a Violet day ( as evidenced by the violet flowers). The scoop: 1 big poo and 2 pees. Runner: Denise ![]() DISTANCE: 7.56 km DURATION: 53:32 So it took me 6 months to think of it, but Jax and I were geniuses today and ran DOWN the steep hill and UP the gentler hill. It was a little muddy from the rain, but Jax was pretty full of beans today and it was a fun run. There was lots of sprinting from bush to bush, and lots of sniffing and rolling on the wet grass. Thankfully no rolling in anything stinky. 3 poops and lots of pees today. Runner: Carolyn ![]() DISTANCE: 8.59 km DURATION: 58:33 Easy peasy and a whole lot breezy! Today was my first solo run ever with DGR so I was pretty excited! I met Harley last week and he greeted me at the door like we were old buds. Harley was raring to go with loads of energy and definitely kicked me out of my Monday morning funk. The first half of the run was quiet as we didn't see a single soul, and he kept looking at me as if to ask me why I hadn't let him off-leash yet. Feeling pretty good and in a quiet area I caved and let him off and he stayed right by me the whole time. What a gem! Once we turned around though, we saw so many more people and Harley was feeling extra social and insisted to stop for some visits and pets and how could I say no to those big brown eyes! All in all I think Harley got the memo that Alberta needs more water as he sprinkled more times than I can count on two hands! Already looking forward to seeing you again soon Harley! 1 poop 12 pees Runner: Lauren ![]() DISTANCE: 8.79 km DURATION: 56:10 I thought about Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day today as Cooper and I ran. At the dog park I was giving all the other dogs names of 'Pooh Characters' and for sure Cooper is Tigger! Even the Tigger song describes him perfectly: " The wonderful thing about tiggers / Is tiggers are wonderful things / Their tops are made out of rubber / Their bottoms are made out of springs / They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy fun, fun, fun, fun, fun / But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is I'm the only one / I'm the only one." Cooper-Tigger and I had a great blustery run that included 1 Poo (not the Winnie kind) and 3 Pees. Runner: Brian ![]() DISTANCE: 10.73 km DURATION: 1:09:12 Songs in my head today were "Singin' in the Rain" and "Sunny Days". Mira and I definitely had the Calgary weather combo for our run. It started with clouds, moved to rain and then bright sunshine. This pattern repeated itself throughout. We laughed about it as we ran to the Crowfoot Running Room and back. We like this run because there is a nice mixture of hills and flat. It is always fun descending hills with Mira. Sometimes I think we are flying! Mira also loves watching the kids play outside when we pass two schools. Mira's favourite part of our run, is the treat at the end! She sits so very well and waits as I get it out of my pouch! Pee=Mira lots, Mulligan 1 Poop=Mira 1, Mulligan 0 Runner: Rosemary |
