One of our favourite guests checked into Michelle’s Puppy Palace. Welcome back Sir Ennis! This stay, Ennis chose the doggy bed surrounded by all the dog toys. I think he was feeling like a young pup. He and Aoife had lots of fun together on their outdoor romps. Ennis always has this little hop of excitement that you can tell he is having a good time. Today’s meet up with his old pals DGR Huxley & Sully was a fantastic time. I could tell that Ennis was getting tired because he was walking a little further behind me than he normally does. Sign of a good holiday is when you need a holiday after your time away. Time for R-n-R with your Mom.

DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes The urban flamingos have melted out of the snow, so it must be spring!! Oh my goodness, I had forgotten how fast this little pup is. She had me sprinting to keep pace and out of breath before we had gotten to the end of the block! Emmy definitely gave me a workout today. We ran along Old Banff Coach Road and Bow Trail to get some hills in so I could keep up. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect! It was an amazing day to run with an amazing pup! Thanks Emmy for sharing your day with me! The Scoop: 11 peeps and no poops. Runner: Michelle W. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7K DURATION: 1 hour Meeting Teddy First time running with Teddy and I really enjoyed it. He’s so calm and quiet that I had to keep looking down at him to see that he was still there. We hit up some the best photo spots in Auburn Bay. He’s a very good model and would sit right away anytime he was asked. He kept a really good consistent pace, other than to check out all the good marking places but what dog doesn’t check those out. I’m excited to see him again next week. The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops. Runner: Scott DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 20 minutes Good Afternoon puppies!! It was so nice to see Java - "The Lady of Give Us A Little Scare" yesterday. I was happy to see her walking around!!!! Today was another beautiful day to take kiddos out. We took that little trail right by the lake. There was no ice and we had a nice walk. It was like stepping into some pagan book. Ravens were flying from tree to tree as we passed by. Some trees had 7 ravens on them. The pooches were very curious about them talking. Then, we saw a woodpecker.. i tried to take photos of them all.. Then, we ran into some kind of secret spot with a fire pit and chairs. As we walked along that path we saw some mini sanctuaries with photos, wooden cross and even a stone circle. We truly stepped into another world.. Haha The Scoop: 0 poops and 1 pee. for Conor. Leia had 0 poops and 1 pee. Runner: Fab DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE;6.1 km DURATION:1 hour 34 minutes The Boyzzz are reunited! When Huxley, Sully and Ennis realized that they were all going out together, the energy was on ‘high’. They completely forgot who I was. ‘Michelle who?’ The coulee was Doggy Disneyland for this gang. There was running water in the creek, muddy trails to rip up and down on AND still some snow patches for snow cones. After all that fun, the boyzzz remembered I was with them. ‘Oh ya, she is the one to drive us home’. The Doggy Business Report: Huxley had 1 poop, Sully had 2 poops and Ennis had 1 poop. Oodles of pees for each boy. Runner: Michelle Wow, what warm weather to have a lovely staycation with Bouvier Monty and Cat Saga. Monty had his lunch and then we did a quick stroll outside onto the green space for a potty break. Monty then decided it was time for a siesta. I like your style! Cat Saga was pretty social and came to greet me and show me her cat cave which is so cool! Unfortunately, Monty started experiencing some tummy issues in the early evening so there was a lot of time spent outside so he could rest his upset belly on the cool grass. Poor boy! It was a bit of an "in-the house" one second and "out-the-house" the next. I put on my best "mom with a sick child" hat and tried to give some comfort to Monty. I filled his real mom in on all the details and he may have a returning virus. We all know what that is like so here's to getting better sweet boy. Saga was pretty vocal at 4 a.m. last night so joined me in my bed for some snuggles. Saga also enjoyed drinking out of the kitchen spout. So cute! It was an eventful 24 hours for sure but life is like a box of chocolates. Get better soon dear Monty.
Pet Sitter: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.1 km DURATION: 1 hour Bridget was running circles around me as I hooked the leash onto her collar. She couldn’t wait to run! We made our way through the neighbourhood to the shady winding road that leads down to the train tracks. I kept Bridget nice and close so that cars could pass us. Then, we followed the Bow River Pathway towards Shouldice Park. We saw squirrels, geese and other birds along the way which all caught Bridget’s attention and made her excited. Even though she couldn’t chase them, she loved to just stare them down and observe their every movement. On the way back home, we made it up the winding road with no stops and were rewarded with nice and warm sunshine at the top. Great job today Bridget! The Scoop: 1 pee, 1 poop. Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 23 minutes Spring has sprung! Today's episode of Running with Sir Avi is called 'Trust Your Instincts.' It was a perfect morning run with my best boy today. We were light on our feet, had some pretty amazing sprints, and we ran into his friend Bear and they had a brief exchange of warm greetings. When we got to Willow Pond however, Avi stopped dead in his tracks and refused to do the loop. I know if he does this then his sniffer tells him there may be something up ahead he'd rather avoid, so I took his warning and we turned around and continued our normal route. When I suggested to him we add some distance at our local ball park he didn't seem to object, so I factored that in for our run today. Avi was curious, athletic, affectionate and hungry today. He couldn't get enough of his new cookie! It said Prince on it so he knew instantly it was for him. He drank all his water too so I am glad I filled the bottle all the way for him today. All in all, a very pleasant morning with this guy. The Scoop: 1 poop, lots of pees. Runner: Cheryl DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10K DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today, I got to do a last minute sub and run Bentley first thing in the morning. We both were on a mission to get 10K done and dusted. I knew today would be the day to get our longest distance to date and my Strava showed over 10K. The run started with the song "Blinded by the Light" in my head because the sun was shining right in our eyes. We then got treated to a symphony by the geese. Bentley had some good speed with seeing bikes passing by as well as a bunny hopping past us. I love the last action photo. Great job for athletic Bentley! The Scoop: 1 poop, 1 pee. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.3 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes If I had to grade Ella's run today, I would give her an A+.. She was in her running mode and we pretty much only stopped for photos and for me to tie my shoes (3 times). I have to get a better lacing system. Haha! Ella's highlights included seeing a small bunny, 2 geese and a flock of doves. Time goes by so quickly with Ella when we are in the groove. Thanks sweet! Another half marathon day for me and you made it feel easy. The Scoop: 1 backyard pee. Runner: Ruth It took only 15 minutes before Harry and Lloyd were both eyeing my lap as a convenient resting/snuggle place while I did some work. Guess who won? It was Lloyd the tuxedo cat. I then took Harry out for a walk and we saw 2 cats outside so we just turned the corner towards the park. It was fun as I put a cute Abominable Snowman sweater on him. We watch Bridgerton on Netflix and Harry would always bark at any scene with horses. There were some short walks around the neighbourhood with Harry and he seemed to know which direction he wanted to go. Lloyd was very helpful when I was doing yoga. I also brought my mat to do some shadowboxing and that is when both Harry and Lloyd went into play-mode with their toys. One of the highlights was a visit from my husband Jamie to watch the Oscars. Both Harry and Lloyd gravitated to him so he had his lap full. Harry even barked at Lloyd to claim his spot. It was a huge pleasure hanging out with these boys. They are sweet characters as well as excellent snugglers and yes, Harry is an angel dog. He liked to sleep under the covers nestled against me. Lloyd would also make an appearance on the bed. He desperately wanted to go outside and I even brought over my kitty's harness but it was a tad small. I am sure he is going to be excited for outdoor play-time when mom and dad are home. Thanks again for the fun staycation!
Pet Sitter: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.5 km DURATION: 1 hour 28 minutes Today was "Bring A Friend" Day. I brought my dog Teddy for Ollie to have a buddy and I also brought prospective runner Shemar who is a good friend to my sons (Ryan and Eli). Shemar is an amazing dancer/instructor at Pulse Studios and he can also run! I think he even surprised himself! The day could not have been better with blue skies, coolish temperatures and great company. The geese are definitely out and about but we respected their boundaries. Ollie was great at showing Shemar how much fun running dogs can be. The Scoop: 1 poop for Mr. Ollie and 1-2 pees. Runners: Ruth and Shemar DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE:5.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 31 minutes I didn't realize how much I missed my puppy cuddles until I saw Winnie and Kona . The greeting was most exuberant but Winnie managed to contain herself long enough to get dressed and out the door. We took our old route and Winnie remembered all her favourite pretty picture spots! It was so good to get back to some familiar walkways! Kona got some extra time today as .it was so lovely out and she was such a wonderful walking companion . The Doggy Business Report, 1 pee for Winnie. Runner: Pat DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Back at it with Kona and Winter! It is so good to be back running for DGR and what better way to return then with two of my favourites Kona and Winter. I haven’t seen them since pre-pandemic times and boy did I miss them. Walking in, Winter greeted me with two years of enthusiasm and Kona with her signature snuggles. Out on the run, Kona was as always glued to my hip, unless she found something to sniff. If you have never run with a Great Dane glued to your hip I can’t recommend it enough it will make your day. Winter took off like a shot on her turn and only slowed down when she got tangled up in the leash due to the spring in her step. I can’t wait to see them again. The Scoop: 0 pees or poops for Kona 1 pee for Winter. Runner: Scott DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.7 km DURATION:1 hour 6 minutes Running with Reba! As always, Reba is amazing to run with! She came out of the door and immediately dropped to the ground so I could give her belly rubs. We took the long way to the park but once we got there I let her off-leash for a few minutes so she could show off her speed with hill sprints, and then a few laps around the ball diamond. Leashed back up, we detoured up and down the streets to cover as much ground as we could. She was right beside me, and at times behind me surprisingly as I was pushing the pace. We were stopped by a lady in a truck who complimented us on our run/pace. She said she saw us at the bottom of the hill and when she caught up to us, we were a block past the top! Coming home, we stopped for a couple more belly rubs, and were greeted by Reba's mom when we got there! The Scoop: 1 poop and 1 pee. Runner: Brad |
