DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7K DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes On today's run/walk, we saw lots of wildlife compared to our other runs. We saw pigeons, ducks and a porcupine in the tree. Lucy didn't notice the porcupine in the tree probably because it was in the distance. I zoomed in to get a better photo. Lucy cared mostly about the snow especially because there's less of it. She looks for any opportunity to dive and roll right into it. The Scoop: 2 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Ginette

DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Today (Monday) is a Runway!! Who wore it better!? We have the wonderful and majestic Kona, wearing a lovely Snout Couture nose piece. Secondly, we have the adorable and quirky Winter, wearing a sleek and stylish 1 piece wrap-around from Dogue. Both models posed in the same spots and showed their individual unique and sporty poses. The monster really gave his touch in showing the size difference of these two best buds. The Scoop: 1 pee from Winnie, and 1 giant pee from Kona! Good girl Runner: Scarlett DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.2 km DURATION: 1 hour 8 minutes The girls started out very slow....all the yellow snow was like a Vegas strip with flashing lights that they couldn't ignore. I let them investigate a bit (or rather there wasn't much choice because they both set their noses on it). After that, we were able to get moving and make up a bit of time lost. We went into a new area that had a whole bunch of tree forts in a row. Lucky kids! Thanks Reba! The Scoop: 1 pee, 0 poops. Runner: Jessica DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3.2 km DURATION: 37 minutes I love meeting new dogs and exploring new areas of Calgary. Today, DGR RunnerScarlett joined me to meet Teddy; a very handsome Doodle. DGR has pet sat him before but now we are going to help him increase his fitness. We took it at a brisk walking pace to start but I can tell that he will be running in no time. We also got to see one of the coolest Free Library stands with a Dr. Seuss theme. We look forward to more outings with this cute teddy bear. The Scoop: 1 pee only. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 4.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 6 minutes On today's walk with Jasper, we heard a symphony of coyotes. Well, I am not sure symphony is the right word as the sound of 3 coyotes crying was quite unpleasant to the ears. I have heard it is mating season. Jasper and I took the high part of the trail past the dam to avoid the coyotes but we watched as 3 packs of dog walkers started to proceed towards where the coyotes were singing ( listen to video). Jasper and I were happy to stay a safe distance away. He had some snow rolling which is of course, one of his favourite things to do, The Scoop: 2-3 pees. Runner: Ruth Happy Weekend Girls. Sophie & Ellie came for a sleepover. It is always a pleasure having the Doodle Sisters visit. It was a rather low-key weekend and the girls seemed to enjoy less ‘buzz'. We did a bit of binge watching of current affairs and then some old fashioned TV watching that included cuddles. Lots of eating and cooking this weekend, which the girls thought was okay. We visited, for the first time, another one of our community off-leash parks and both Sophie & Ellie got in lots of sniffing. Always trying to keep something new for our adventures. Thank you girls for partaking in our lazy weekend.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE:6.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 16 minutes Wow, what a beautiful day it was! The sun was shining bright, the snow was melting and people were out enjoying the day. A beautiful spring-like day. I don't think I've seen another dog so excited to cool off and roll around in snow like Kali! I'd say she was having a lot of fun today and so did I! The Scoop: 0 poops, 2 pees. Runner: Anna DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.6 km DURATION: 1 hour Sometimes I love our Calgary chinooks but the headache that comes with it’s sucks - BUT today's run with Kismet was a perfect way to blow out the brain fog and get some Vitamin D! Kismet sure loves her runs and I couldn’t ask for a better girl to run with! There were not many people out running but we did see a lot of bunnies! We did play the game I call "Is it water or is it ice?" again and had a few surprises but we both managed and did great! Have a good weekend Kismet (and I can’t forget about Loki and Sadie too!!) The Scoop: 0 poops and 0 pees. Runner: Chris DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 5K DURATION: 1 hour Could the sky be any bluer? Today, I took Jasper out without Teddy as I was dashing from run to run. Jasper was in a social mood and directed me towards the Rockyview Hospital so he could greet a few people hanging out on the benches. He sure know how to brighten people's days. Jasper also has a passion for benches as he know there may be a treat involved if he pops up. I usually have to lift his hind legs but he has a nice sit for his photos and always has a big smile on his face. He was a dream to walk on this Friday lunchtime outing. The Scoop: 1 poop, 5-6 pees at last count, Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 30 minutes A pre-birthday celebration with my best boy called for doggy treats, hugs and kisses. This week's episode of Running with Sir Avi is called 'Three Times the Charm.' Well, we did it! Three weeks in a row Sir Avi and I charged up Cookie Hill without stopping and that deserved some extra high-fives, treats and congratulatory hugs. Today's run was a bit slower due to the recent snowfall and all the extra sniffing that Mr. McSnifferton had to do as a result. Yes, Avi, some other pups made it to this particular snowbank before you. Sure, it's fine that you let them know you stopped by here, too. Funny enough, Avi's Pawrkette was basically untouched and it was very pretty. Avi had a short lie down there and then we continued onto the pond. It was a casual day and it was enjoyable for both of us. Nice to see you again when the temps aren't so nutso as they were earlier in the week. See you soon for another adventure! The Scoop: 1 poop, and he's all peed out. Runner: Cheryl DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.1 km DURATION: 1 hour 17 minutes Bentley and I edged closer to Ryan and his running record of 10K. Today's run them was Purple Passion. Bentley was wearing his new purple Martingale collar with wizards on it. I decided to take photos of all things purple including purple donuts, purple flowers (they were next to the wreath photo but there was a dog close by so we moved over to the side), purple graffiti and of course, me in my purple jacket with my purple leash. We also ran by the Purple Perk coffee shop. Purple is the colour of royalty and Bentley ran like a king today. Great job! The Scoop: nothing to report. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3.9 km DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Marley and I had such a great run today! The sun was shining, and there was fresh snow on the ground. Marley was super excited about that! Every opportunity he could roll around he took! Haha! All the bushes looked like giant piles off marshmallows!! It was so great. When we passed through the dog park we saw a Bearded Collie! It is a pretty rare breed. It was super awesome. A squirrel saw Marley and did some pretty wicked acrobatics in the trees to get away. The Scoop: 437 pees and an extra poop today makes 3. Haha!! Runner: Scarlett DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.9 km DURATION: 59 minutes It felt a bit cold in the beginning of our run this morning just because of the wind, but once it was on our backs we were heating up. There were lots of dogs out today on the Bow River Pathways. We even saw one pup pulling their cross country ski wearing owner. Cool! That looks fun! Rossi and I made our way into the quieter neighbourhood across the road and completed the rest of our journey running along the snowy sidewalks. Great job today Rossi! The Scoop: 5 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Ryan Sophie & Ellie to the rescue!! The Doodle Sisters came for a sleepover and to brighten our household. Our Foster Pup Bert (AARCS Apoc) went to his forever home earlier this week and this left Aoife and us humans, very sad, but happy for Bert. Ellie walks in and gives Henry a cuddle immediately. Miss Sophie constantly gave me those beautiful eyes to say, ‘I am here to comfort you.’ What an amazing pair! They gave us all extra love yesterday. Today before the Doodle Sisters went home, we had to have fun winter party in the Tuscany Coulee.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.4 km DURATION: 1 hour 5 minutes Jade must have been having an afternoon nap when I got there because I had to call her name and she lazily came to meet me at the door. It started snowing on our run and continually got worse as we went along. Jade didn't mind and thankfully most of the sidewalks were clear. She stopped to sniff and pee a lot more today but we tried to run quickly between her breaks to stay warm. Thanks Jade! The Scoop: 3 pees, 0 poops. Runner: Jessica |
