Nell was trying out for a new job today, Canada Goose Fitness Instructor! We had an amazing run along the Bow and Prince’s Island and Nell and I ran into several flocks of Geese on our run. We would run towards them together and make them get off their butts and get some exercise! “Ok Geese, I want to see 10 Geese Burpees! Bark Bark Bark “. We ran the whole run today with only two pee breaks.

Miss V was all Vvrrrrmmm today. It is always great to see Violet. She is excited and always gives you a special welcome. Today while we were in the trees we hit a lot of ice, so we did some tree weaving which Miss V was spectacular at. Then we did some hills and the coming down part I thought we would try speed work. Violet was really engaged in this. She can be a very fast girl. Vvrrrrmmm. I think Miss V likes to be challenged when she runs, and she is really focused on her running companion. Thank you V for a great Sunday run. The Doggy Business Report: 1 poop, 2 pees.

Violet was so excited to head out for her walk today, she was ready and waiting right by the door when I arrived. She looked so pretty with her new hair cut! We did a bit of exploring around her neighbourhood; I’m not very familiar with the area, so I’m really enjoying taking some wrong turns and various paths with Violet. We cut through the off-leash park on our route, which Violet seemed to particularly enjoy, she was smiling the whole time! Violet had 2 pees, 1 poop.

Lovely Violet was thrilled once I opened the door and called her name. She was all excited this afternoon to get going and seemed so much more engaged today. I researched a better route for us to take beforehand so we did a much better run today. We sniffed out lots of smells and I guess Violet has a favourite trail through Strathcona Park as she led the way off the main street pathways and she had a little time in the stream. Once we got closer to where she knew she lived, she was determined to get home and have a bit of a rest. The

I’m so happy to say that I have discovered Mona’s happy place. Or at least one of them. We love going to Edworthy Park and discovering spots to explore off leash. Today we stayed on the south side and ran west beside the train tracks. Mona reached a point where she wanted to turn around. So then we crossed over the bridge and ran through the sports fields to Shouldice. Before I knew it we ran 8K. Mona was looking a little tired but still happy. So we took it easy for the last km. Right before we got to the parking lot we met Maggie, who is a bigger older version of Mona. They said hello and good bye. Then, we drove home. One poop and several pees for Mona today.

What a fun run with Sadie and Loki! Caitlin was home when I arrived and the pups were raring to go. Sadie was a little shy to say hello but once out running, she likes to take lead! I knew these pups are great off-leash, so we went in search of some big open fields to run around in. From there we found some single track trails and explored around there. Loki even found a tee pee in the middle of the woods. We were getting a little mucky so we decided to head for pavement to finish our run. Sadie had an appointment that she had to go to right away; so I kept Loki company for a few minutes trying to get the twigs and dirt out from his beautiful fur. I think you could say that the amount I pulled from his fur is indicative of how much fun we had. I hope Sadie didn’t have to be too clean wherever she was headed! No poops and 2-3 pees each for these awesome pups!

The best laid plans . . . Callie and I were going to pick up the pace a bit today. We finally made it to Griffith Woods – which had been my goal the last two outings – on this stellar day. But was it ever slippery! Hard packed snow, somewhat melty in spots. No problem for a quadruped with claws, not so great for this biped with no Yak Traxs. We made the circuit with no wipe-outs, but at a slower pace. Callie got to break a film of ice to get a drink, and even waded a bit. The Scoop: 1 poop, 0 pees.

Opposites can be BFFs. Today when I picked up Huxley, he was sleeping on the couch and looked at me to say “wanna have a nap too?!?!” We got to Huck’s house and he is so full of excitement he doesn’t know whether to be at the window or at the door!?! Just “get me out running” When the “H Boys” hit the trails they are all about running. They chase each other and run like the wind (and eat snowsicles) they are really fun to be with. When they are outside they are two peas-in-a-pod. The Doggy Business Report: lots of pees for both boys, only Huxley pooped.

When Domina and I started our run this morning, it was slow going. Lots of dead stops…I wondered how I could get Domina’s running spark back. We headed for an off-leash park we used to run to a lot with my dog, Marathon. We played chase, fetch, peek-a-boo, come tackle me – it worked! I saw the familiar playful, sprinting Domina and it was wonderful! I wondered if she would stop running so well once I leashed her back up. Nope. She kept a smooth, steady pace until we got home. I decided that run deserved 2 doggy treats. Domina agreed. The Scoop: 1 poop, lots of pees.

What a pleasure to meet this handsome yellow lab named Kenny. I do have a soft spot in my heart for labs so it was pretty easy to connect with this boy. He even sat on my lap while he let me pet him and I got acquainted with his mom. We had a great walk on the ridge overlooking the Glenmore Reservoir. He is a dream off-leash with great listening skills. Kenny also enjoyed some fast chase time with Lulu, a mini Airedale looking pup who tired him out. Kenny did perk up quickly when he found a huge stick. I am looking forward to more walks with this affable doggy. The Scoop: 1 poop, 4 pees.

ADORABLE!!!! I am talking about Olive. She is a little spit fire and very well behaved, I might add. Olive likes to run off the beaten path which is fine by me. We had a great time! The Scoop: 1 pee, 0 poo.

Nell and I continued our exploration of the Bow River east of downtown. We ventured upon a beautiful environmental art structure by Lorna Jordan which displays fabulously against the Bow River. Nell enjoyed climbing around the structure and she was a great model when asked to pose for a picture.

What a beautiful day for a run today! I was so looking forward to meeting Quinn as I’ve heard what a lovely runner she is. Also I was looking forward to revisiting my old stomping grounds. So upon picking Quinn up, I headed south towards Silver Springs. I logged many miles in the 90s up there. I love running in Calgary within sight of the Rockies! Also I couldn’t believe how big the trees of the birthplace forest had grown! We meandered through the neighbourhoods. I did encounter a couple dead ends in trying to cross Crowchild and John Laurie so we ended up going a little longer than anticipated. But Quinn was chill about the whole run. She was grateful for a couple snow snacking breaks though. Only one pee for Quinn on our run today.

A great trail run with Olive today! We found our way over to the trails beside Stoney Trail, just to see where they would take us. We found we were the only ones out there, which helped Olive settle into her running. So, we had some fun practicing changing directions, following commands and playing some games of speed up and slow down. Olive glanced up at me frequently, checking in with a great big smile. I could tell she was having blast, as was I!! Super fun day! Olive peed and pooped
