DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes The wind seemed to follow us at every turn no matter what direction we tried to go. The best part of the run was through the cemetery, and I debated just hanging out and doing loops in there but it seemed a little weird. Haha. I added one more loop before we headed back but both of my shoelaces came undone and Reba stopped for a second poop so it turned out to be slower than I thought. The girls were fantastic passing other dogs, even big barky ones. Thanks Reba! The Scoop: 0 pees, 2 poops. Runner: Jessica

Time for some Lab Lovin’ this weekend. Sir Sully is coming for the weekend! I have not seen this charismatic character since Christmas and he has been missed. Our house was pretty full with doggies to welcome Sully. Sully has met all of these girls, DGR Sophie & Ellie and Aoife. He is friends with them. Who is that little munchkin in the pen? Sully, finally there is another male pup to balance off the energy in the room. This is our newest foster pup, Apoc (we call him Bert) from AARCS. Sully was good with this little nugget. Aoife & Sully had a fun and a sunny Sunday at Nosehill. Monday was really meant to snooze on the couch for everyone. Sully braved the wind and we went to the local off-leash but he was much more impressed with cuddles on the couch with his girlfriends. Fingers-crossed we see you real soon Sully.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute It was a bright and brisk Tuesday afternoon for a run with Gibbons and Toki today! The girls did very well with the chilly temperature and snowfall, proving once again they are more than capable of conquering winter. It was really quite a nice day to run, with the sun out and no wind making for perfectly good conditions once we got moving. And, with the girls armed with their thermal snowsuits, scarves, and, in Toki’s case, even booties, we had no problems at all! We had a great time winding our way through the neighbourhood, with it being very quiet and peaceful. I always enjoy fresh snowfall and the peacefulness it brings. When combined with two of my favourite dogs, it really makes for an awesome day! The Scoop: 2 pees for Gibbons, 1 pee for Toki. Runner: Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 8K DURATION: 1 hour 2 minutes Good morning Mira and Nova! The only thing that made it feel a bit cold today was the insanely strong winds. We started things off by running into the wind towards the river, and it sure pushed against us, but we pushed back harder. We were a fast trio for the first half of our adventure, and we almost reached the 14th St. Bridge before turning around. On our walk back home, Nova occasionally jumped all over Mira trying to get a rise out of her, but Mira stayed cool and calm as she strolled along like nothing was happening. Excellent job today girls! The Scoop: 4 pees, 1 poop (Mira) and 2 pees, 0 poops (Nova). Runner: Ryan I t was so great having the “little potato” stay with us this weekend! Each day saw morning and evening strolls around the neighbourhood where one night Bootsie met a dog named Rex. They excitedly saw each other from behind a vehicle and pranced to meet and get their sniffs in. She spent the mornings by the potbelly fireplace in between sets when she wasn’t spotting myself or Chris in the gym. Her favourite place to hang out is in the basement we discovered as she was reluctant to come up from there on the last day. She spent one afternoon resting with Brad watching t.v, and was perfectly comfortable keeping both Chris and Brad company in bed in the evenings before the last pee break and going to bed (separately). We can’t wait to see her again in a few weeks!
Pet Sitters: Chris and Brad Sophie & Ellie were a tad groggy when they walked through the front door early this morning. It was an early start! The girls got to meet our newest AARCS foster pup, Apoc. Sophie was so good with this 8-week-old guy. He would come up onto her doggy bed and wake her up to play. Sophie would let him lick her ears and then she would saunter off to one of the other doggy beds. Ellie was the ‘super puppy sitter’ and entertained Apoc full on. She did get a couple quick naps in while the little energy ball was snoozing. Thank you girls for all you help with our newest foster. Apoc will be waiting anxiously for your next arrival. You two set the bar ‘high’ for playtime.
Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 6.7 km DURATION: 1 hour 3 minutes I absolutely adore Kali. She is such a pleasure to run and she always makes my day brighter! We went on a round about run today; up and down new streets that we haven’t run before. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect! We ran past a bunch of sandstone boulders and a hedge that still had Christmas balls all over it. Kali jumped in snow banks and caught snowballs. Thank you for a perfect run today Kali! The Scoop: 3 pees, 1 poop. Runner: Michelle W. DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 9.8km DURATION: 2 hours 26 minutes Good Afternoon Kiddos! What a beautiful summer afternoon! There were so many people out on the path, it was crazy! Poor Conor, it was “Fear Factor. II." However, he was better than yesterday! I had to keep him ahead of me. With me as “buffer” between him and those mean monsters coming from behind,, he was fairly good! Because of the amount of people out, we had to walk slower! We got to watch something really cool. A coyote jumping head first in snow to find some lunch. He got a big mouse or something. It was devoured quickly! Mister Coyote wagged his tail while licking his lips. It was a beautiful walk.. The Scoop: Conor had 1 poop and 2 pees. Leia had 1 poop and 1 pee.. Runner: Fab ![]() DISTANCE: 6.6 km DURATION: 1 hour 1 minute Mira and Nova almost opened the door for me this morning. I think it was Nova who was literally pawing at the door handle from the inside and turning it. It reminded me of the scene in Jurassic Park where the velociraptors learn how to open doors. Clever girl, Nova! Today’s run was kind of “stop and go” but we did include a few 100 meter sprints to work out our fast twitch muscles. When I knelt down to take a picture of the girls, Nova came up to me for some attention so we snapped a quick selfie. By the time we started to walk at our half-way point, the leashes were wrapped around each other like a black and brown candy cane and Mira and Nova were two tired Huskies. Awesome job today girls! The Scoop: 2 pees, 0 poops (Mira) and 1 pee, 0 poops (Nova). Runner Ryan DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.8 km DURATION: 1 hour Happy Friday Bentley! I heard that you were full of beans after running almost 8K yesterday. You must be in peak fitness. I did hear that you had a bit of an upset tummy though so we kept out run at an easy going steady pace. I felt like switching things up a bit so we headed towards downtown and check out the colourful graffiti and wildlife (just kidding, it was a long horned sheep statue), Bentley was sporting his one red boot to protect a healing fingernail. We made one booty stop (oops - that sounds awkward!) to adjust his bootie and then we were back to running. Thanks for the pleasant Friday run! The Scoop; 1 poop, no pees. Runner: Ruth DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 3K DURATION: 1 hour 4 minutes Marley and I had a ton of fun exploring the park today. I let him lead the way, and he was going off the beaten path for sure!! We went through the trees and saw so many little birds and some squirrels. The sky was grey and gloomy but the air was still nice, fresh and welcoming for our run. At one point, Marley led me to an area where animals were going under the fence. He used his good old sniffer!! Did you know K9's actually inhale through the fronts of their nostrils and exhale out the sides! That's why dogs noses are shaped funny with little gaps on the sides. Silly puppers! Marley wanted to lay down a lot towards the end so we started heading home. As we were walking back, someone was baking cookies! And the smell in the air was amazing. The Scoop: 1 poop and many pees! Runner: Scarlett DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 10.3 km DURATION: 2 hours 10 minutes Good Morning kiddos!! It was another gorgeous day out there today! I think I am starting to love Calgary's winters. Did I really said that? Today was a “Fear Factor show” for little Conor.. A lot of things happened that spooked the little man. A skateboarder came up suddenly behind behind us. Poor Conor, I think his heart came out his chest. I decided that the rest of the walk would be about relaxing, and stopping and looking around so the little man could get over his fears. We stopped to let a group of moms with strollers pass us, I think Conor thought those were aliens. LOL!. Leia was there to comfort him. Kop, as his older big brother probably told him all kind of spooky stories… However, we still enjoyed our walk still so all was good. The Scoop: Conor had 1 poop and 2 pees. Leia had 0 poop and 2 pees. Runner: Fab All I have to hear is ‘Puppy’ and I am all in. Introducing one energetic 6-month-old cute girl….Echo. She is an absolute sweetheart with lots of character. Echo loves dogs, so she came to the right house for a little vacation. She and DGR Ellie played for almost the entire time they were together. Aoife tried to keep up with Echo, the tiny firecracker, but she ran out of steam after about 40 minutes each play session. I was absolutely amazed at how well this young girl does on leash, a real dream. She loved her time with DGR Huxley on their walk together today. Yesterday, I popped out to my Mother’s house and when Echo jumped back into the truck she was pretty sure she was going to drive. You have been a real delight little girl.
Pet Sitter: Michelle What an action-packed 24 hours!!. Ellie had a full day of play-time with her new DGR friend Echo. These two young pups, only a couple of months apart, played and wrestled non-stop the entire time they were together. Miss Sophie enjoyed her couch time while she watched the kids play hard. Both Doodle Sister were excited to see Huxley, a fellow Doode
they went for a walk with. Then it was back on the couch for Sophie and tug-o-war for Ellie and Echo. I have a feeling both girls will sleep very well tonight. Pet Sitter: Michelle DGR RUN OF THE DAY ![]() DISTANCE: 7.8 km DURATION: 1 hour 10 minutes Today, we had a lot of energy! Bentley and I jetted off right from the get go and didn't slow down. The sun was beating down on us as we stuck to the river pathways. At times, we were galloping down the pathway so much that I overheard some bystanders say, "Wow! Look at that dog running". It's like they say don't judge a book by its cover because boy oh boy Bentley can put those jets on! He was on a mission today!! The Scoop: 0 poops, 0 pees. Runner; Anna |
